Super Mario Galaxy is clearly the best game on the Wii. It looks great, it's fun to play, sounds amazing (best score on the Wii by far), and really there isn't anything to dislike about the game.
Yes, there is: the camera.
The camera wasn't perfect but I have yet to see a non-first person 3D game that has had a perfect camera. The camera can get stuck behind objects, it can show a wall when you want to see the path ahead but those problems are just a button away from being fixed.
I would also agree that the spherical worlds can get a bit disorientating especially when forward suddenly becomes backwards but its a minor issue considering what removing it would do. Without the spherical worlds Galaxy wouldn't have anything much new at all and the camera would be worse rather than better. The only time I ever had problems with the camera were on the traditional flat levels.
In short. Galaxy, like any game, has its flaws but none of them really get in the way. Its biggest problems are the same problems just about every game that attempts third person 3D struggles with. These are hardly "that's why Super Mario Galaxy isn't the best game on Wii" arguments.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I love Galaxy, and I suppose what confused me was that they chose a game that uses the same idea as the past two Mario platformers, but I guess it has improved notably. Also, I like sports games, it's just that I've been turned off by their planned obselescence. I'm sure I'd like the game. Heck, I might even give it a try since there obviously won't be any Mario Golf games on the Wii any time soon.
