the one i posted looks exactly like red steel 2, just without cel shading.... the technical graphics look great, much better than the first, but man they are not winning me over with all this copying!
Mmm, I'm getting some TimeSplitter 2 vibes from this between the run and gun gameplay and all the different locations around the world. I'm getting really stoked for this... I just wish it was out in February instead of around the 3DS's launch. I want to play it already!
Part one (of 7) of a live online walkthrough of the game with Sega. SWEET CUSTOMIZATION
Also: "Sega's Conduit 2 has been delayed again. The Wii-exclusive first-person shooter received its fifth release window today, as the publisher pegged it with an April 19 launch date.
According to Sega, the slip will give the development team at High Voltage Software more time "to continue to balance and enhance the game's multiplayer."
I'm getting really tired of these delays. At least I'll have my 3DS to keep me occupied during most of the extra month this time.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
now that i've seen it i agree with the impressions at the bottom of that link. the levels and graphics do look better and there are a few nice surprises, but the gameplay looks very similar regardless (i'd also agree with his complaint about the frame rate issues). the voice acting is simply terrible, not that the story itself seems bad. looks like more of the same but slightly better, not the major overhaul a lot of people were wanting. at least the music is better, in that there is music this time
When are we finally going to have an image of Ford's female ally?

What's wrong with that? That was one of the strong points of the first game.

good shooter gameplay to me is made up of good level design, weapon designs, pacing of action, controls, and art direction to give you something stimulating to see, and most of those things were exactly what the first game got unanimously blasted over by critics. that first level doesn't look like too amazing an improvement, but the multiplayer videos do show some really cool looking environments, so maybe the good stuff comes later in the game.
i will say this, the splitscreen is not going to be the half hearted little affair it was in goldeneye. they let you create your own loadouts, adjust individual handicaps, regeneration speed, running speed... gravity? [youtube:95Bqr8gt95g&feature=player_embedded]
the multiplayer looks to be where the real improvements are going to come through.

Most people don't consider level design and art direction to be part of the gameplay.
Anyway, the first game already had the controls and weapons down (plus we now get even more cool weapons and alternate fire modes), From everything we've seen, the art direction looks much improved, and the level design appears better as well, although it's too early to tell with that. I'm not sure what you mean by pacing of action.

you don't think bad level design (walking through the same corridors for 20 minutes on end) has an impact on how well the game plays? you seem to be equating good controls with good gameplay. how well designed the levels are plays just as much of a role in a shooter as how well fun the guns are or how well the controls work in my opinion.
by pacing i mean how they arrange the enemies, when they throw big fights at you, when you face a boss or special enemy, basically anything that breaks up the monotony of the gameplay. the first game had never ending streams of annoying little enemies and that was about it, there weren't many surprises in how each level played out. that's one of the things they've obviously been working really hard on this time.
Well, sure it has a pretty big impact on the quality of the game, but it's not really part of the gameplay category, and neither is the pacing.
Gameplay is basically how well the game works with what your playable character can do. In a shooter, that includes shooting down your enemies, reloading, moving, the weapons, etc. Keep in mind that it's not strictly the controls themselves but also stuff like responsiveness, avoiding lag, not confusing the inputs, how well your onscreen character performs the actions, quality and quanity of actions, quality of hitboxes, how difficult some tasks are to perform, quality and quantity of available weapons/ammo/powerups, health system, etc.
On the other hand, the level design and pacing isn't directly related to the playable character's actions and would fit better under a design category. It's just a semantics issue.

Regarding the delay I suspect it's to ensure more people who may still be playing black ops or goldeneye will be more in the mood to try something new. There's not a complete overlap, but seems a shrewd move to me.
That's part of why the game was originally delayed from November to February. How do you explain the two delays since then?

I think they delayed it to allow 3DS to die down a bit.
