After previously just having a Sega Genesis, I was nearly 18 (in 2002) when I got my first Nintendo console, my GameCube, on the strength of their exclusive games [Super Smash Bros. Melee, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader, and Sonic Adventture 2: Battle (well, that one's not exactly exclusive, but the failed Dreamcast doesn't count )], and now I can't imagine ever getting a non-Nintendo system in the future, console or handheld.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

My Nintendo: Katara

You make some great points there, but I don't think Nintendo will be shunned. The sales charts for the Wii AND Nintendo DS systems are amazing! Sure, there are haters here and there, but their silly opinions and stupid complaints don't (and won't) stop Nintendo from selling big with their fans (which there are a lot of), and actually anybody else in general! Granted, I can't predict the future for Nintendo-kind, but right now, it's stronger than before! Worry not, fellow gamer!

Recently? Not really. The Wii has sold the least amount of systems for the past several months. Sure, the PS3 and 360 don't have a chance in hell of catching up this generation but no company is bulletproof. Just putting that out there.

I mean the sales charts as a whole. The reason why the Wii isn't selling as well these past months is because almost everyone has one already.

Not quite. If you're referring to America, which is usually referenced the most, while the Wii has been outsold by Xbox 360 the past few months, that was really only due to the 360 Slim and the price drops and such. 360 will probably have one more month because of Halo: Reach (the 360 sales exploded the month Halo 3 came out), but I think Wii will overtake it in October when Wii Party, Kirby, and NBA Jam all come out. Meanwhile, it has continued to beat the PS3. As for other territories, in Japan the Wii and PS3 have, admittedly, sort of been going back and forth lately, with the 360 lagging behind severly. Europe and elsewhere don't seem to give regular updates, but it seems Wii continues to dominate there too.

So, the point is, Nintendo consoles aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

I to thought Nintendo might be in trouble with this current generation of systems. With the continuing downfall of the gamecube (and a DS on the horizon that some thought was not going to be good) things didn't look so good for the future. Then the DS quickly gained success and that helped paved a way for the Wii. But lets face it if it wasn't for the casual gamer both systems might be in serious trouble. The hardcore Nintendo fan have been waiting for years to really have something to look forward to. That time is now and only 4 years later then it should have been. Don't get me wrong there has been plenty of good games in the recent years but few and far between. This is why we are seeing multiple releases of our favorite titles from games we only see once a game generation. Not sure if Zelda counts but two Mario's 3 if you count new smb for the Wii two metroids and so on.

I've been a Nintendo fan boy from the very first system and will be till I die cus no one makes a better game then Nintendo. As the original fans like myself get older we must pass on the fact that graphics aren't everything and game play is where its at. I also own a PS3 and love it but only own 4 games to 20 Wii games and that's cus I like their games better.

This comes to one other problem third party support. For whatever reason no one is buying these games. A few have made a dent in the top 20 from time to time but not enough of them have which discourages them from making sequels or trying something new. Yes Nintendo games always take the top spots and rightfully so but third party games have to compete with Nintendo games and lose every time. That has has been and will once again be a problem till the current gamer realize that Nintendo is by the gamers for the gamer. Leta hope with the 3ds that heads start to turn towards Nintendo for the future of gaming and not a once was company. Competition does bring out the best in everyone though so we still need the PS and x-boxes.

One last thing is Nintendo has sold a lot of DS systems cus like the 360 many people had to rebuy their system from hinge failure. I've even heard of some Wii problems also so that factors in to all their success. The next generation of gaming is still a ways off but it will be interesting to see what Nintendo has in store for us! 3DS FTW.

I'm the opposite. I used to be a Nintendo Fan-boy but that's completely over now. I like my PS3 better and barely play the Wii anymore. Just better games on the PS3 as a whole.(IE:Multi-platform and exclusives together).
The Wii is not a bad console but the support it has is laughable from the 3rd Party developers compared to the other consoles. I have both consoles set up on one TV so it's not like I've thrown the Wii into a closet. Just don't feel like playing it much.

I hate to say it because Nintendo is my favorite games company out there but next gen,I'm not going to get their next console first. It will be either the PS4 or Xbox 3. Then Nintendo's next console.
Every Nintendo console has amazing games thats why I buy them every gen.

Nintendo's handhelds kick ass. I love them. The DSi is awesome. I wish I had one.

@Sean007s. Lets not forget the ps3 started out rough for the first 3 years or so to as the the original price coupled by the lack of quality games plagued the first couple of years. It wasn't till the last 2 years that there has been games I have to have for the system. Yes there is more games I would like to have this CHRISTmas but games like Goldeneye Donkey Kong Country Metroid and although not this year Zelda and pikmin are all higher on my list then say Gran turismo 5 or Fallout New Vegas. Time and money are what's making my choice in some of these games. I no longer have endless time to play ps3 games as a lot of them will take forever to beat or play endless hours on Gran turismo. Though I wish I did!

Dude, I feel the same as you, im 15 years old, and I hate when my friend talk that the Wii is rubbish, I love the Wii, it is one of the most awesome consoles with the best variety of game I have ever seen, it gots the pure and best clasics like mario, zelda and kirby, PS3 and Xbox360 only got games like blood and first person shooters. Nintendo starts making videogames much before the other consoles, and it is just much better. Idk why some people like so much games with alot of blood and first person shooters, I really dont find they to be really funny. And your right, who cares about the graphics, what makes a game god is the GAMEPLAY, and nintendo got the best of that, also it got the most originalyti of games.

You know, for me all first person chooters are the same, 1 guy, some weapons, and blod. What is the difference? Ok ones got more bloos than others, and beside the history, is just the same experience one or the other first person shooter for me, in the Wii you can have completley different experiences, hey dude im angry now, I really don't like these new "generation of gamers" sadly, it looks that almost all my friends are so like, and about the small consoles, now my friends and almost everyone preffers a ipod than a DS, WTF??? the DSi just kick ass, and the 3DS will be totally amazing. Ohhh I hope that wit the new 3DS and in some years the new Wii, everyhting changes, and people see that NIntendo owns the best games and consoles, and that other companies just copy their ideas.

Man's worst enemy is laziness.

While I'm certainly not arguing or even hoping for Nintendo consoles to go anywhere, I'd say the PS3 and 360 are probably going to start beating the Wii more and more frequently this generation, not less. The Wii is far closer to the saturation point that its competition.

Quite a few teenagers play Wii too. It's just only the real gamers that are into it. And the Year 7's.

If it makes you feel any better, Im 19, I own all three consoles, and I still play mario, metroid, zelda and the like. I have little interest in Halo, Gears of War, and NONE in GTA. I do have a love for God of War and other mature games, but not for why others do. I appreciate the story telling, and how much like greek mythology it is in it's story progression. No, Kratos was never in there at all, but it is accurate spiritually for greek tragedy. People who typically play it just think "Aw snap, he got his head ripped off!" or something of the like. (in fact, my english teacher in high school had to go back and research the mythos when a student wrote his mid-term on it but never mentioned it was a videogame)

My point is, everyone has their own tastes, and no two generations will understand each other completely. My tastes in things rarely fit in with others, and if it did, like god of war, it was for the "wrong reasons". Rather than force fine games from nintendo on them, let them discover it in time. You don't want them to think "Mario? Sorry, my teacher likes that, so there is NO way it could be good"

I have A LOT of games, if you want to play something, just email me jangonov&#...

I think it's just a phase kids of that age (elementary and middle school) go through where all they want to play is violent games because they think it's cool and rebellious. Really you shouldn't judge how well Nintendo will do in the future off of kids' opinions like that. When they get older they will appreciate games that aren't ultra violent.

Some kids today are just so fickle and I hate games that are quick, shoot em up style games.
I am not ancient! I am 23 years old and remember my parents buying me the NES - it was fantastic, since then we have had all the consoles and I have only had the PS1, I find it so hard to consider buying another console when I am such a Nintendo girl!
Nintendo is fantastic and most people have become loyal to nintendo and realise that it brings out fantastic games, games like Zelli that are worth waiting for, consoles that are worth the wait! They don't just knock games and consoles out left right and centre, they are truely there for THE RIGHT type of customer satisfaction (IMO) the enjoyment of playing a fantastic game, not get through as may games and consoles as possible (businesses!)
Oh and if the kids actually tried playing the kiddie games such as Mario, Zelli and Okami they would soon realise it is harder than they think and NOT for kids! Maybe they just can't play them? Good on the ones that can, ones with intelligence and tenacity to complete puzzles and enjoy that style of game rather then shooting everything in site - no wonder our society is rubbish at times!

Nintendo will most likely release their next console in late 2011/2012 though and stay massively ahead and MS and Sony will struggle to follow, both are still in the red for this generation and need to keep their systems in the market to recoup their losses and they can't afford to do a significant boost in power for the next gen. I'd reckon MS and Sony could launch their next systems as late as 2014.
