What is better about the Saturn version when compared with the PS one? Just load times and graphics? I have Alpha 1 on PSN and enjoy it quite a bit. The load times are regrettable but not much of a bother. I'm pretty patient.
Just looked it up... so that's where Morrigan's from. Looks awesome. Reminds me of Guilty Gear how fast and agile everyone is. I sure missed out on a lot of good-looking fighters by staying loyal to Nintendo for so long. Between the SNES and a year ago when I got a PS3, the only new releases I really had to look forward to were Mortal Kombat games, which have gradually gotten worse and worse since MK4, I've found. I hope they remake Darkstalkers using the SFIV engine like the developer said he'd like to in the IGN interview.
As one final derailing (sorry, OP), how do 3 and EX compare to the other Street Fighter series? I've played all the SFII games, IV, and the first Alpha (eagerly awaiting Alpha 3 on PSN, if it ever comes out). EX looks weird, not graphically, but how characters move. Think I need to take a trip to the Gamestop and load up on old fighters, with Darkstalkers at the top of the want list.
street fighter 3 is ridiculously legendary. while it has a good amount of stuff that separates it from other street fighter games, most notable is the parry system it has. its totally sick. the ex games are cool but not really the best street fighter games out there and kinda bank on the whole graphic gimmick that doesn't really play out well these days (or at least have the same effect it used to.) personally i loved the ex games, they're lots of fun. but where as street fighter ex is a novel take on a 2d fighting game, street fighter 3 is a work of art. i used to actually like SF3 the most out of all the SF games. but than i got The New Challengers on the VC and was like "oh yeah, this game is possible the best fighting game ever..." i love street fighter 3 so much though and the only copy i have is on my ps2 anniversary collection and im not about to get my ps2 going. i really wish they would put Street Fighter 3: The 3rd Strike on the Virtual Console Arcade....buuuut i doubt that will happen. as for a XBLA/PS3 HD Remix, i think that we could actually see that. That Seth dude who is like the american capcom internet mega bro once twittered about people asking for it....so who knows...
SF3 is indeed legendary. The best part about it though.....Q! The mysterious man(?) in the metal mask.
and Adam, make sure to check out the Darkstalkers thread I made here https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/virtual_console/show_your_... Theres a big movement at the Capcom boards to get Darkstalkers to return, theyre up to like 1000+ supporters. Every little bit helps.
@Adam I think the Saturn has better animation, this is certainly true of the sequels. Zero 3 on the Saturn with the RAM cart is pretty much arcade perfect - 'Street Fighter Vs. X-men' on the PSX even removed character switch during matches, the Saturn includes this and has almost non-existent load times due to the cart again. Saturn was built for 2D and it really shines in Capcom's ports.
World warriors: original game, the 4 devas are cpu only Champion edition (arcade, upcoming vc release?): 4 devas are playable, more balanced and a little faster Turbo (snes): speed selection Super street fighter 2 (snes): 4 new characters, based on the cps2 arcade, new artstyle, best street fighter on the snes IMO Super street fighter 2 turbo (arcade): best gameplay, extremely tough AI makes the SNK bosses look easy

Heh. Took me about 30 attempts with Sagat following a working pattern I watched on Youtube to defeat Akuma in HD Remix. On the easiest difficulty setting.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Not losing a continue is one thing. Also getting some perfects and super finishes, I'm not sure how many. I tend to get him almost every time unless I purposely set out not to get him.

No matter what difficulty I'm on, I always lose at T. Hawk. One day I will admit that I suck at Street Fighter games, but I'm not ready to do that just yet.

admitting you have a problem is the first step, bro.
But he takes up practically half the screen with his enormous size and range attacks. Poor Zangief, the poundings I put him through when all he ever wanted to do was piledrive everyone.
@Adam, wait are you saying you roll Zangief? dang no wonder you say you suck at street fighter games, that dude has one of the hardest move sets in the game!
Some of the moves are different, some of the excecutions for moves are different, the speed is different, the characters are different, the graphics and character portraits are different...imo, there's quite a bit of difference between versions. While I don't have every version of the game, I'd like to have them - I love playing around with different versions just get a feel for each particular game, and see the differences between them. Plus, I just can't get enough of Street Fighter!

Yeah, I could never beat that guy in Super Turbo. Granted, the computer in that version was nearly impossible to begin with, even on the easiest difficulty, but T-Hawk is just some unpenatrable wall that instantly counters your every move. I beat him once, by luck. That, and I was playing as Ryu, and his Dragon Punch and Spinning Kick thing seemed to really help. And Fireball spamming, that works too...sometimes.
Zangief is so cool though. He wrestles bears! Bears. When I pick a character in a fighting game (or any game really), I choose based on the personality / design, not how good or difficult he is, and I still for whatever reason think Zangief is one of the coolest video game characters around (though he's no Flint or Hinawa, obviously).
I wasn't aware that his moves were particularly hard. I find most of the characters pretty difficult to use. Dragon punches are bizarre, and the moves that require full circles always just end with me jumping (fortunately HD Remix changes all full circle moves, I think).
EDIT: Starboy, those were my back-up characters when I was a kid, actually, so it's funny you suggest them. My dad used to always pick Chun-Li though and then make fun of me when he won because I was beaten by a girl... so now I have a grudge against her.

Dragon Punch - just do a fireball while walking forward and you'll hit it pretty much all the time. (Fireball is quarter circle forward and punch)
Full circle moves - jump towards, and start the circle move in the air, so as you land you are finishing the circle. No need to worry about jumping then. Walk up spinning piledrivers are tricky.
I know the moves, Starboy, but thanks. There is an operations manual for both the original I have on VC and the HD version I have on PS3. I am just saying I find many moves difficult to pull off, Zangief's included, though I've gotten used to his through much practice
