Kinda interested in this, but it doesn't quite grab my attention for some reason. I do like the fourth screenshot that Adam posted. It sounds like the game has a sense of humor.

The DS one certainly had a good sense of humor, though it only had a chance to shine rarely as the story was pretty minimal (not that I mind). The new game is much more story-focused, so it looks like we'll see a lot more of that humor.
On a tangent, I never really liked NetHack too much. It doesn't help that I play on a laptop whose keys aren't aligned properly for diagonal movement so that even basic movement is always a challenge. But I find it is too complicated for me. I stick with Rogue myself, when I'm not playing Shiren or the Zelda and Castlevania fan roguelikes (which are awesome).
its great to see more rpg games on the wii even if its a a type of mystery dungeon crawler and this will be a day one buy for me but its a shame that atlus clams its to hard to add the online features that the japanese one had but at least all the dlc dungeons that been out in jpn will be added in n/a release
I read up on Versus mode. All it is is multiple players playing through the same dungeon in a race. You can't see each other in the dungeon, and what you do in your "copy" of the dungeon does not affect the other player(s)' dungeons. Importers generally say it's not worth it. The lack of rescue feature is really the only lamentable omission.
Nice Adam thanks for posting this. We were talking about this a ton yesterday. Glad you found some more info. Instant purchase for me once this hits NA.
Oh man, I cannot wait for this game to come out! I am a bit disappointed about the lack of the rescue feature but the bonus dungeon sounds like a really great addition to the game. I am going to miss rescuing you in this game Adam but if you ever need help in the original Shiren just let me know. Thanks for starting this thread Adam and getting the word out on this awesome game.
If $9 is too much, consider checking out the genre's starting point for free. They call them roguelikes because of this game, the grand daddy of them all, Rogue. Considered the first "graphical" adventure game, it's really just ASCII, but that's a huge part of its charm. Most PC roguelikes stick to ASCII to this day. Be sure to read the directions on the page and press ? for help info. There ain't no tutorial in this game.
Shiren would be the much more accessible game to try though, so if you have a DS and want a good cheap game, you really can't go wrong. And if you ever need rescuing, let me know! I've still never gotten to rescue anyone... Damn you guys for being so much better at this.
Man, I love the move toward cheaper games. Wii is the best when it comes to getting the most game for your buck, though PS3 is starting to pick up on this (3D Dot Game Heroes and Super Street Fighter IV also being $40 titles coming next year).
