It's an awesome puzzler with really smooth controls, a fun two player football mode, a full level editor and 500 levels, and is a great, innovative take on the old "get the ball on the same coloured space" genre.
At only 600 points, it's well worth a purchase and is easily my most played VC game to date.

Funny that you mention this one. I downloaded it when it came out, but didn't really start playing it until recently. Talk about addictive! I'm lovin' this game.

One of the most overlooked games is probably one of my favorite SNES games: Super Turrican. This gem from Factor 5 had awesome power ups, tons of hidden items and passages, and a superb soundtrack.

I thought wrecking crew was a great game, just not worthy of the name Mario. You actually have to plan what you're going to break first, its not just mindless wall smashing like everyone thinks.
PS. I hope you don't mind me taking this topic from the grave.

  • Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
  • Ecco Jr. - how can y'all be hard on this poor, innocent game?
  • Kirby's Dream Land 3
  • Super Turrican 2
  • Space Harrier II

super turrican is sick. i think not many people give it a chance cause it looks generic but its aesthetic is really fun and keeps you interested. the level design never gets old and i love the platforming. my only problem with it is limited continues. i can't freaking stand limited continues in a platformer. but i bought it on a whime cause i wanted to play something contra-ish and was totally surprised to find what this game has to offer. i can't wait to beat it and get the 2nd one. i hear its even better!

now, my pick for most over looked games would easily be the granpa shumps of the vc:
1. Star Soilder (nes)
2. Zanac (nes)
3. Star Force (vca)
and kinda even
4. Galaga (nes)
maybe its just me but i love all of these games soo much (especially zanac and star force). i would love to see more old OLD school shooters hit the VC.

Ys I and II

So how is Ys I and II
Is it as archaic as Phantasy Star II or is it better

Ys is really really really really good. Given that I'd never heard of it until a couple months ago, I'd say that's an untinted review.

@Adam: I certainly will not fight with you. Zelda II was fantastic. I wish they made another game like it. If we wish real hard, maybe Nintendo will make a 2.5D Zelda for all us Zelda II fans.

I think the Master System is overlooked, even though it has some fantastic games, such as Phantasy Star, Fantasy Zone and Alex Kidd.

Currently playing:
Red Steel 2
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes
Pokemon HeartGold

Golden Axe 3. But that's only because it was only officially available in Japan until 2006. Why so hard on this game? I think it's very decent.
