Topic: NINTENDO is alienating its hardcore audience

So what is "Hardcore" then?

Macho? Because "Macho" is just "Macho" not Hardcore. Hardcore is where you can Speed run MegaMan 2 without dying in Hard Mode, Hardcore is where you play Ikaruga, using each hand on a stick and pilot both ships! Handcore is where you play Tetris long enough to enter the hexidecimal levels! Hardcore is where you figure out that in order to beat Super Ghouls and Ghosts you have to beat the game again but making sure you possess the wisp! Hardcore is where some plays FF7 and beats Emrald Weapon in only a few seconds relying on lucky sevens.

im not judging it by the graphix i dont want to play as little insects and animals and u cant compare mario to excitebots

I'm comparing the style to Mario. Honestly, transforming robot giant insects is pretty badass. Oh well, you're missing out on a great game.

How? Both games have the same crazy ape-shit character design, so how can you not compare them? Why can't a game be a game where you docrazy stuff, or is that not allowed because Sony and Microsoft said so?

The term "hardcore games" is extremely subjective, so you need to have some kind of definition of what you're talking about on here, or the result is confusion. Just read Wikipedia - "Hardcore gamer is a widely used term applied to describe a type of video game player. There is currently no unanimously agreed upon definition for the term." - yes I know this refers to "gamer", but there's nothing on "hardcore games", so there's an even greater need for a definition.

I agree and disagree with the topic creator on this issue. I thought from the console's launch in November 2006 into April 2008 the Wii had a pretty solid lineup but then May of last year until March of this year was pretty terrible aside from a few cool WiiWare releases. Fortunately things seem to be improving again though. I know some people like MadWorld, I just bought Klonoa yesterday and that's a great game, Punch-Out!!, which is sure to be awesome is just a couple weeks away and then there's TMNT coming out later this year and hopefully Sin & Punishment 2. Hopefully Nintendo will also announce something at E3. It's going to be a bigger event this year than the last two so maybe we'll get more than a casual game reveal.

Casual, to me, does not mean family/party games being played by soccer moms and retirement home occupants, rather it means people who don’t have hours on end to devote to gaming. In the same way “hardcore” doesn’t mean that every game has to be rated “M” for Mature and be filled with profanity, severed limbs, and suggestive themes – it’s a term referenced to people who like a challenge, and don’t want the game to be helped along with answers to every puzzle given by a NPC.

But that's the point though, we think that you have an incorrect definition of what "Hardcore" is, therefore making your argue on "Nintendo Alienating Hardcore gamers" useless. The answer is no because your defition is skewed because of all the gramer BS seen and heard on XBox Live. Sure I bet you play hours of Halo 3 and think you're the GrandChampion of the game, but I'll tear your ass on a session of Tetris. The truth behind what's hardcore isn't really to do with the game themselves, but more to do with the people in the gamer Community. The only reason why people whine about this shit is because durring the late 90s and early 2000s, Adult based games became popualer as the gamer demographic became smaller compared to what it was durring the 80s, but since the mid 2000s and the release on the Wii and the DS, the Gamer Community start to feel opressed purely because everyone is gaming and not just them.

I'm sorry to say this, but video game companies want to make MONEY, and the only way they can make more money is by seeking out a bigger audience. This is where your problem kicks in. You don't like the look of ExciteBots becauseyou think it "Looks" like something that a kid would play, but then again you play Super Mario Galaxy, I bet in the 80s a Jock would say the same thing about Super Mario Bros on the NES, "What?! Mushrooms!? Pipes?! Turtles!? this game is so... bogus!" (sorry I had to had 80s flair into that, I just had to ).

The truth is you're whining because the rest of XBox Live is whining because Nintendo is now popualer, and everyone wants to jump on the band wagon because they can.

Slight problem... Ever even tried to see if ExciteBots provide a challenge? Renting would be a way to find out...

EDIT: Actually more to the point, how can you say Excite Bots isn't a challenge when you haven't even played it!? You look at a few pictures and go "This is for kids! PAH!"

well if i see a game that dosnt look apealing to me i make a decision that im not gonna play it

But why? this is what we don't get, You play games with Plumbers running about Stomping on Turtles and flying in the sky, but not a game where you drive vehicles that can transform into robots, no offence that sounds awesome to me. More Applealing than any FPS can provide.
