lol, once I ask I get the answer on the game itself. XD
I actually "repelled" him and got to the part where you actually fight him. Ran out of time after that though and only managed to break off one of his horns and noticed I could buy some of his armor now, go figure huh?

Ive now beaten the Gigginox offlline and finished all the 5 star quest. On the 6 star quest now. I tried to fight my first Rathalos and got royal owned for the first time by a monster. It kicked my butt royally. Ive got my Barroth Armor all up to Lv 4 and was using a Lagiacrus Blade and figured it wouldnt be too bad as I need the Rathos down for items to get a fire damage GS for the Lagiacrus Capture to make it easier.

I got pawned so bad it wasnt funny. He hits me for 50 percent damage at times and whats with the getting pinned down? Is there a way to get out of that without having my whole health bar depleted?

@Machu: Yeah, I did the Great Baggi and 20 Baggi quests once more and I managed to get enough. So tedious though! Argh! Also the long sword is badass - I'm worried about not being able to block with it, though. Seems all of the best combo weapons don't offer any sort of defense. Oh well.

Hey Mackerel, if you're on, I'll be hopping on and making a Gigginox+ room in about 10 minutes. (Putting some laundry away)

Everyone else is also welcome to come- Farming Gigginox for the full set of armor, so there should be time for everyone to hop on and get what they want from them if you'd like. :]

Quick. Which should I upgrade to, chieftain`s great sword or carapace sword?

Oh, and I made an MH MSN group while I was waiting. Like I said, planned to use it mostly for friends, but figured it wouldn't hurt to see who all I can get in it. The more the merrier, right?

@chucko.. chieftans GS had a much better upgrade paths, go with it.

@Alex... you need to get it and start killing some beast with us man

Chieftains definitely, it leads to electro-goodness. I've taken both paths and omg the Carapace path is ugly. I doubt I'll ever use it but I take all weapon-paths just in case.

@pix: Tedious? :/ Never!

@slapshot82: When Rathian or Rathalos pins you and starts to munch, slam a dung-bomb or two in it's face, it'll soon think twice. And yeah, Rathalos was a real step-up, he's one angry mofo, epic fight.

I've only got one more Urgent Village Quest to do. I need to kill a certain someone, instead of just repel. Traded for some UW Ballisto Ammo, which I'll take with me for that extra bit of help. Here goes....

Your gettinggood advice. If you already hav`nt gone with it the chieftains looks to be the strongest of the great swords. I have several GS and dont have the items yet to forge the chieftains any further. It looks to have over 900 attack points!

@pixel: You can block with at least one type of sword (Great Sword?)

@ltg: Yep, I know you can block with the great sword, but you can't with the long sword, switch axe, or hammer.

What`s the deal with rustshards? I`ll send them to my item box, but they don`t appear to be there.

I just started!I got 0:49 on my time so far!It's a great game but the begining quests are quite boring.I want to fight something big!But I guess I have to train first.

Definitely stick with it...it's worth the wait. You'll be battling the big boys before you know it.
