killing people gets boring after 5 minutes because there are only a few ways to kill people (put a tire on them, shove a pike in their face and chop em in half.)

The number of ways to kill people is only limited by your imagination. One of the things you have to master is keeping the people alive long enough to do the most damage. Removing limbs one by one and putting different objects into each of their orrifices. This also makes the game a lot harder to master if this is your personal aim. However if you only use the basic moves that you learn in the first few minutes of the game (the ones you mentioned) it is possible to fly through the game in a matter of hours but all you would do is miss out on all the fun.

It is one of those simple games that seems shallow on the surface but if you try to master the game it can be incredibly deep with plenty of replay. Just like trying to collect all the fruit bonuses on PacMan it can turn a simple game into a nightmare challenge. I personally like to replay levels and master as many kills on those levels and in short bursts its fantastic fun.

PAL gamers beware. The game runs in 50Hz only, which isn't too much of a problem unless you're playing it on a 16:9 (i.e. not widescreen) TV - you are forced to play with HUUUGE black borders and it looks teriible and detracts from the game

Can't say Ive noticed, Anyway I think in a generation or two from now (in consoles) Mad World will be remembered fondly, perhaps even as a classic.

I liked the art style but the idiotic humor, childish violence and monotonous gameplay made me get away from the game. If you enjoyed No more Heroes I bet you will enjoy this one a lot.

That's a dig at No More Heroes isn't it?! Oi, nooooooo!

I love NMH (uber cool), yet Madworld bored me (despite being uber cool). So they can't be compared (in Machu's brain at least).

I've played exactly 47 minutes of it(just got it today for 30 bucks) and it's pretty awesome so far. I think No More Heroes is better but it's just so much fun to brutally kill your opponents. Little Eddie and Jude the Dude were awesome too. Can't wait for the next boss.

I haven't had the time for the game after fighting Twirlenkiller, but I still reccommend it.

@Raptor78: I never thought of that! kudos on the creativity, I'll have to figure out how to do that

MadWorld is horribly repetitive, so I wouldn't rate it as being that good. However, in small doses it's manageable - then again, just about any game is manageable in small doses so I don't know whether that's a good thing or not.

As for No more Heroes - I'd suggest avoiding it at all costs and going for True Crime: Streets of LA (or even New York if you can cope with the bugs) if you're after a half-decent over-world driven task based kill-fest on a recent(ish) Nintendo system.

No More Heroes was sluggish, dull and truly uninspiring as a game. If anything, only the cinematics save this game and even then they're piss-poor. In fact it's the perfect example of aiming a product at completely the wrong audience and screwing the mechanics up well enough to make it totally unappealing to most people who might be willing to give it a try (unless they want to play a game that's pre Gamecube in design and content)

I don't agree. No More Heroes was one of the very few games that actually made me not want to quit. I just had to keep playing and playing since the fighting is a blast and the bosses are very fun, creative and unique. I've replayed through it 3 times now, and it still isn't boring.

Both of the True Crime games are horrible GTA rip-offs. I've played both of them on the PS2 and it was fun for the first 20 minutes, but it got really dull after that. You just do a bunch of really boring missions, and occasionally arrest some people. Hooray, let's chase someone for 5 minutes, punch him to the ground and put some handcuffs on him. That's really neat. It was a good idea for a game but came out short. But I don't know why we're talking about No More Heroes and True Failure here, this is a MadWorld topic.

Anyway, I've played about 30 minutes of MadWorld again and I keep loving it more. I'm currently in the 2nd stage of Asia Town. That Bloodwatch Challenge where you put champagne bottles into your opponents' mouth and make 'em shoot into spikes was very creative. And hilarious.

@calculon: Aside from them being similar Genres, you need to realize that True Crime, No More Heroes and Madworld are different games with different aims. Your cross-console, cross-generation, exaggerated comparison is no more valid than blaming Street Fighter 1 for not being more like Soul Calibur 4.
