I was going to wait until coming back from holiday in the States to pick this up, but given that retail is only going to be £34.99 (£7 over online) and I've got £10 in credit on a GAME card and £10 in points I think I'll get it on Friday. Don't know how much play time I'll get into it before I leave, but I've been looking forward to this game for a long time.
Well, I decided to pre-order it online after all and used my GAME points to bring the price down to £17.99 (I've still got the store credit for when Tenchu comes down from the lofty heights of £39.99; guess that'll be in another month or so unless it's flying off the shelves -- sorry Ubisoft!).
Got an email today telling me my order is being prepped for delivery in time for Friday. Excellent!
I wouldn't take the absence of the symbol as meaning that.
I got notified my copy has posted; if I'm lucky I'll have it tomorrow or Friday so I'll let you know then. I'd be surprised if it wasn't 480p, but we're seeing new WiiWare games (Equilibrio is 576i for whatever reason; Bubble Bobble Wii is 480i) that don't support it, so anything's possible...
This did arrive in the post yesterday and I can confirm that it does indeed run in 576i rather than 480p. It looks great, but for people whose TVs don't deal with interlaced resolutions over component the cable swap will be required, sorry! I honestly don't understand why games are still coming out that don't support 480p, but at least widescreen is the norm...
Fantastic game! I'll admit I haven't been following it as closely as most of you guys here, but I've really enjoyed the hours I've spent with it so far. It's a shame it's only in 50Hz as it would look amazing in 480p, but its style still shines through. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
I only played it for about 20min. before deciding that Fire Emblem must be the priority since I'm only on Part 2 after starting it a month ago, but it seems very accessible and the choice of music and overall look and feel are great. Anyone who enjoys questing/sim games would like this I reckon.
After reading your review I'm feeling compelled to give it another go tonight!
Well, I've gotten to the "controversial" part where Howser lays out his plan for your world domination starting with the "obliteration" of the Onii across the river. The game looks light and fluffy, but there's some dark undertones; the night before this happens we have two of your advisors putting up a sign where presumably a bridge will be built to facilitate this invasion via a cutscene with conspiratorial overtones.
I suspect a certain level of irony is intended and it is also "just a game," but I definitely think Little King's Story could be used in a university dissertation contrasting the display of war in Japanese and Western videogames.
I'm really keen to get back to this tonight; it's quite engrossing!
I'm still playing this, and still think it's one of the greatest games of the past few years. Every time I play there's something fantastic and new to discover, be it a new enemy, area of land, skill or character. I want to post everything I've discovered so far because it's thoroughly amazing, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't had chance to play it yet, particularly our American cousins.
I'm struggling against the Ballhopper at the moment, as he keeps mangling my squad by running them over. My grunts can't seem to get close, so it's hunters all the way. I love this game.
The ballhopper is easy just put your whole team on top of it all at once and see the poor ball get smashed. Then you have to fight the onii. It's really an amazing game i would say it's in the top 5 on wii. Maybe first when im finished with it.
Every time I rush my troops at it, they just get knocked away and damaged, even when I've stunned it using Cupid's Bow. I've tried using my Buff Lumberjacks, Grunts and more but I only managed to hit it with the Hunters. I'll have another go in a bit, though!
Tryin using the enviroment to your advantage, use arrowheads where the ball can't reach you. Then go in for the final blow. Which ball is it? Left or right LOL
You folks who already own this game are sooo lucky! I wish I could play this game right NOW! I hope the release date doesn't get pushed back again because right now June seems so far away!
It's an amazing game. An amazing, wonderful, relaxing game. At first it seems a little dull. But the game world, as well as the options at your disposal, just keep expanding. I'm seven hours or so in now, just beat the onii king, and unexpected things have started happening. Best of all, just when a particular niggle starts to bother me (like the way you gather citizens for your party to begin with), voila, the game suddenly presents me a solution/power up to make it super easy.
It is a much better game than Pikmin, to me. But then I think it's unfair to end comparisons there. Because it reminds me of so many different games at once: Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Dragon Quest, Settlers, even Zelda. It takes a bit of everything - the best of everything - and uses it in its own way.
I haven't enjoyed a game on the Wii as much as this since Super Mario Galaxy.
