Why do people always get hyped up over High Voltage Software titles? It really doesn't make any logical sense to me because I've looked them up and I only found three decent games that I've played made by them (Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Family Guy, and Harvey Birdman) but the only reason I think I enjoyed them was because they made good use of the liscence. Yes, I've also played the Conduit and Tournament of Legends which were both very generic for their genre and also quite boring.(Though I did enjoy one a lot more then the other) And if you look at their list of games on Wikipedia it is full of shovelware. (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Iron Man 2 anyone?) So I just want to know what people see in the company, and I know a lot of you see their games and think they have potential but if you look at their games their highest rated original game that wasn't a content port remake or made with another developer has an average review score of 72/100 and it is the Conduit and Go Diego Go the videogame. Please tell me what in the world the you guys like about HVS because I don't see it.
Conduit and Conduit 2 are the only games they made that I have interest in. Conduit 1 had plenty of sequel potential, and if it can iron out the kinks in the sequel, it could be very popular among Wii gamers.
I guess their games get hyped because they're about the only company that is genuinely trying to make good first-person shooters on the Wii. I think they're a lot like WayForward in that they make a bunch of liscensed games so that way they can make a few games they want to make, which happen to be first-person shooters instead of retro revivals like WayForward. I feel they're doing their best, but their games get torn to pieces by reviewers whose FPS pallates have been spoiled by an endless stream of Halos and Call of Dutys that when a FPS shooter comes out on Wii like Red Steel 2 or The Conduit, the reviewer compares it to 360/PS3 shooters instead of other Wii FPSs like Red Steel 2 or Metroid Prime 3. That's my opinion.
Because they're one of the only developers who are supporting the Wii with games that we, as traditional gamers, might give a toss about.

HVS made the mistake of trying to make a FPS game for Wii that was like PS3/360 games (I believe their actual words were something along those lines), rather than playing to the Wii's unique strengths. So what they ended up with was a buggy and somewhat ugly game after hyping up an experience comparable with the PS3. Basically, they're popular because they managed to generate a lot of hype for a game which ultimately didn't deliver.

The only one of their games I've ever played was LEGO Racers on the N64.
Same here; it was a pretty decent game...

I like HVS because I look to the future, not to the past. Sure, their games may be mediocre, but most games they develop always look to have potential, and making sequels to games such as Conduit helps them to iron out problems from the first game. Look at their games list. How many sequels are there? Not a lot, right? Sequels are a way to make games better than their predecessors. Since they haven't made a lot of sequels, they aren't able to reach their full potential with the software they have already made, and thus haven't bee given a chance to get the credit that I think they deserve. Hopefully Conduit 2 will change that.

Most people don't pay them attention at all and most people certainly don't hype their games. Me personally, I don't hype them but I check them out. I enjoyed their hunter games and The Conduit and Tournament of Legends. None of them were extraordinary, or even great, but they were well made and I think I got my money's worth.

I think they listen to what we're saying and I respect that. I agree though, they haven't made a lot of good games (although I actually really enjoyed the conduit) but they listened to the problems and are fixing them for the conduit 2.
The conduit was solid and the sequel looks better. Games like Tournament of Legends were ruined by decisions to make it less interesting and more mainsteam/casual.
I get the feeling there is someone there always shouting "needs to be more generic!"
They got a lot of attention because The Conduit was ambitious for a previously non high profile company as well as ambitious for a wii only game. The art could be more consistent and creative and the online bugs are annoying but otherwise a well made game with some very nice graphic effects.
Personally, and I know this is kind of harsh, I hope the Conduit 2 is bad so people will finally see High Voltage can't do anything right. And there is a difference between Wayforward and High Voltage, when people hype a WF game it usually turns out good, and when WF says their game has great graphics, it actually has great graphics. I have yet to see a game that HVS trys to hype up their fans about turns out good, and when they were trying to make people believe the Conduit had great graphics, the graphics were just meh.

Have you even played the Conduit? It has some graphics that I haven't seen other wii games take advantage of, like the blurring effect when aiming down a gun's sight. It's the small graphic effects like that which made it quite unique.

Exactly, Conduit was a rushed to market incomplete buggy demo of a game, & everything I hated about the 1st game seems to be returning to the 2nd. What I don't get is why people think it will be different this time.
Flandre Scarlet, she's cute, she's colorful, she can blow up entire cities, she's also a vampire. Start running sparklepants.
