Wow, in 20 comments, not one of them is giving thoughts on this game. I guess I'll be the first as I did take the 6 dollar plunge.

Ghost Slayer in short is pretty good and I can't understand the storm of hate that has rained down upon it. Anyway, the game controls very well and very close to 1-1. The controls are very similar to those found in Wii Sports Resort sword fighting. So the way the game works is you travel through 10 different locations, all on rails and fight ghosts as they approach you. You must have a good balance between offensive and defensive because the ghosts will attack you and you have to be ready to block them. There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of replay value but there is a hi score taken for each level on each of the three difficulties. The difficulty does seem to ramp up fairly quickly, I lost twice on the 5th level in the novice difficulty. The sound definitely could be better but it's not bad how it is. The graphics are nice but there is certainly room for improvement. Overall, a good addition to Wiiware and a great use of the Wii Motion Plus accessory.

No, not that I saw. The brightness isn't really as much an issue here as it is in the videos though. My TV makes it look just fine and if certain TVs don't, you can always fiddle with those settings on the TV itself.

I figured as much. Thnx for checking!

This game is just "so-so" i think. i downloaded it with mouse house this morning. but it has great control over the sword. it has both WMP and w/o WMP.
the setup was a joke i thought, and i don't see why a "highscore" is there i thought that was stupid. but this game is pretty fun.

I'll wait until someone else blows their money so they can prove me wrong. If I see some good reviews I'll hang my head in shame.

Link, people LIKE DIFFERENT GAMES...as for me i enjoy this game as for mouse house.

Is there true hit detection and parrying abilities, or do they go with the more accessable style of constantly switching between offensive and defensive modes that they use in Wii Sports Resort? If they do have true swordfighting control, I'll probably get this, otherwise I'll probably stick with WSR and pray that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 doesn't use this baby style of sword fighting.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

The sword does ake on the same style as WSR. You still have to press B to go into block mode. I'm not quite sure how the game controls without WMP, havent tried it yet.

If that's the case, is there any reason why this is superior to the Showdown mode of Wii Sports Resort Swordplay, especially when the graphics are so creepy?

wait, what? Let me get this straight you want "true hit detection" because its not "baby style" like you are some kind of real life sword fighting master who needs more accurate video game sword play, yet the graphics are no good because they are too creepy for you? Are you, like, a 12 year old prodigy fencing master who's scared of the dark or what?

I didn't say I was scared of the visuals. They just don't look very good because of how creepy they are. Have you seen the trailer? The graphics are creepy for any age. If it doesn't have any gameplay advantages, I'll stick with the nicer looking graphics on the game I already have.

Well if I had the choice, I would choose this over WSR. It just has more of a direction to it and I'm personally a fan of the evil atmosphere. It is very satisfying slaying those ghosts. Oh, and this game definitely has the difficulty edge over WSR. This game is getting really difficult, and I'm still on novice!

@bboy,
sweet thats what I wanted to know. Thats all I play WSR for anymore, I'm still curious how it might do without Mo+ though. (I know, why bother? but I actually don't have my own resort/mo+ yet so I"m just borrowing one from my friend so I wonder if it'll be any fun with standard remote controls).

What Ren said

I get turned off by games that use wii motion plus because I don't have the accessory so is the game still good without it?

Ok, so I checked the game out without using Wii Motion Plus. I'd like to say the game controls fine without the attachement but.......sadly it doesn't. It just ends up feeling very awkward. B is still used to block but in order to change your sword position for swings from vertical to horizontal, you must hold B down, change the sword's orientation, depress B, then make your swing in the position you want. It just feels un-natural and glitchy most of the time. IMO, someone shouldn't even consider this game if they lack a motion plus.

Yes. I got addicted for awhile, especially on swordplay and archery. Ping pong can be fun too. Dogfighting is good for multiplayer.

Yeah, it's good. It's appeal wears after a while but I've gotten more than enough hours of entertainment out of it. Plus if you think about it, It's really a 30 dollar game.
