Ah, yes I have also rescued them from the large enemies on the world map before, forgot about that. One more question: is the Toad-rescuing bit available in 2-player as well? If so, I can't wait to try to team up with a friend later this week and bring him to the goal safely.

No, it isn't. They only appear when one person is playing.
Why does everybody say that world 3 is hard? It took me longer to get past world 2.

Question: Do the different color Yoshi's have different abilities like they did in Super Mario World????

I don't think so, but unless my perception has been scrambled, I think the color affects what type of powerup they produce when they plop out an egg.

^ Yeah, the Yoshis seem to be the same. Not sure on the power-up differentiation, as i didn't really pay that close attention. But come to think of it, i think i was riding an orange or red Yoshi when i got a Fire Flower via egg, so that may be the case.

Ah, I didn't notice that, but now that I think of it, you are likely correct. If so, this almost makes up for your loony Pokey theory.

True, the game just throws lives at you, and there many opportunities to pretty much rack up as many as you'd like, but the game is still relatively difficult when viewed from the standpoint of how many attempts it may take for you to get all the special coins in a level, save Toad, etc.

"Almost" is closer than I ever expected to get, so thanks! (Also, I feel Loony Pokey Theory should be in caps. You know, so they can refer to it in textbooks.)

Yeah this game is pretty brutal (the world 5 fortress made me want to stomp forcefully on the Wii remote). But it's fun brutal, you know?

I agree that World 2 was harder but world Three had that castle with the moving block platform, right? THAT was a pain.

As far as the "Pokey Theory" goes, no you can't kill them when they're sprouting leaves, however; it does have significance. If you notice, the enemies will dance to the music of the levels. Same goes for the Pokeys. Whenever they sprout the leaves, that is their "dance," so you can time whenever it's about to happen. Whenever they do sprout leaves, if you eat them with a Yoshi, you'll swallow all of the Pokey instead of just part of them, and Yoshi will immediately lay an egg.

I am stuck on the last fortress in world 2. I haven't figured out the maze yet. I was surprised there is a maze this early, but it is very welcomed. This is a great game. The coin battles are awesome as well. My mom and I played them for 3 hours the other night.

I agree, the game is a bit more difficult, but I felt the DS version was too easy. As far as coins go, I know there are a few where the only way I was able to get them was to jump in their direction, and then pop into a bubble (floating back to safety). Thank God for the bubble feature! Multiplayer makes the coin collecting easier, but sometimes it gets tedious to traverse the levels without bouncing off each other and dieing. >.<

Damn, ignoring all these New Super Mario Brothers Wii threads is hard.

I had to skip world 3 and go to 5 (using the cannon in world 2). It was much too hard at world 3.
Just wondering has anyone gotten the secret worlds? Like world 9?

I don't know how you get there, but I'm trying to avoid all secret exits and such until I've beat the final boss. Then I'll find all the shortcuts later (that's just how I roll, you see). I'm assuming you unlock world 9 by getting all the gold coins?
