Topic: Damn the new Super Mario Brothers Wii is hard

about the super guide, if you use it to beat a level for you, you can go onto the next level, but the level you used it on will be flashing red instead of solid blue on the map because you did not tecnically beat it.

so yes peach, you can count the number or flashing red levels to know how many times you used it.

I've heard about this trick for all of my 17 years of existance (okay maybe not ALL my years) but I still have no idea how to do it!

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that you throw the shell into a small, tight space, and then just repeatedly hop on it. Seriously, I've never done this either.

No, but you're close. It involves stomping on a koopa shell on one of the ending staircases, right before the flag. Just watched a video of it on youtube and I still don't quite get it

I beat the 9th world and got all the star coins. but i only have 4 stars on my profile. how do you get the 5th star?

Weird trick! I've gotta try that out.

Actually it's the only Mario game outside of Mario Bros. that I unreservedly enjoy (I am feeling a bit nostalgic for Super Mario Bros. because of Pole's Big Adventure, which is generally a superior game), however as Mr. Brutus says, not be able to beat even one of the shadow races to get the last 8 stars needed to play the game as Luigi really irritated me to the point that I couldn't bear to look at the game again. I'm definitely getting Super Mario Galaxy 2, though!

Ugh, some of those shadow races were killer. They get even harder when you play as Luigi! I remember that I was only able to beat a few of them with the "sprinting start" trick, and even then, just barely.

Dem races in SMG were difficult, but it was that Luigi's purple Coin level where you have to collect all the coins on the old school sprite of Luigi with all the falling platforms that had me foaming at the mouth.

There is nothing in NSMB:Wii that even comes close to the difficulty of those races and Luigi's purple coin level, yet I haven't heard people complaining about NSMB:Wii being easy. I think the difficulty in these levels comes down to the fact it is a 3D game and having to change direction and jump about like a mad man with split second timing is a lot harder in 3D than it ever will be in 2D.

Right. For those players, there are medals awarded for not bringing up a hint block that are displayed on the title screen.

With that feature, it now means that if you bring up a hint block even once, you'll want to wipe all your save data and start again from scratch.

So basically, if you slip up eight times, you start again from zero! (laughs)

Right. You go back to an earlier save game and try again! (laughs) A lot of the staff does that, and it's actually an exciting way to play. If you've been coasting on autopilot up until then, this will make you refocus and give it your all.
