It is much easier with 2 people. By yourself you're asking for a beating. Fantastic game, though. I love eating my brother with Yoshi and throwing him into enemies.
Best thread ever

I like how the levels are challenging, but the Super Guide and the very high amount of 1-ups make up for it, balancing the game. Best 2d Mario game. GOTY
lol.... good to hear, Honestly Ive waited so long to play a True Mario 2D Game its not funny. NSMB DS was just too easy to be true to its roots. I cant wait to play NSMB Wii.

I've died like a million times already, but part of the difficulty for me so far is janky controls.
Holding the Wiimote sideways makes waggling tough, but allows for easy 1 and 2 access for running and jumping. It allows for easier platform tilting but it's then annoying to use the controls while having the controller tilted at a 45 degree angle. Also I don't like holding the 'mote sideways in general - the left side has the indent where the B button is and that bugs me.
Then my preferred control style is Wiimote+Nunchuk. It took me a while to figure out how to tilt platforms but now I prefer it to the NES-style tilting. The Z/B/A button system gets kind of confusing sometimes. Especially when it was just B and A and I didn't yet know that the Z button will also work for dash. The WiiMote is too sensitive to waggle in this setup. And the in-game directions assume that you are holding the wiimote sideways.
Certainly harder than the DS game. Of course, anyone who knows me that my two biggest archenemies in any game are spiky things and bottomless pits -- which Mario games thrive on. But there's something weirdly satisfying about falling to your doom in a Mario game, like its supposed to happen.
I haven't had any control issues beyond my usual complaint of the d-pad on the Wiimote being slightly too small for my large hands. But not anywhere near an issue. I've definitely been developing some old school "Nintendo-thumb", though!
I spent 1hr 15mins on world 1 (not because i kept dying or anything like that), but i was always rescuing toads i find it to be a very good single player game too
I need to rescue some more Toads -- what do you get from doing that, besides the immediate 1-ups? Will Toad eventually appear on every level to be rescued, or just selected levels? If you screw up and kill him (which I've done quite often, and it's usually in a hilarious manner), will he reappear on that same stage again?
Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense. Wii FC: 8378 9716 1696 8633 || "How can mushrooms give you extra life? Get the green ones." -
you get the 1ups and then a house appears that you can go into and get extra items, if a toad dies they will eventually reappear just have to wait until the toad symbol appears over the area again on the world map, also you can rescue toads by running into the large goombas on world 1
