I agree with everyone that Sunshine is underated, it's the worst 3D Mario game, but that dosen't mean that its bad! I reall liked it. It's just Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy were just too spectacular!
I don't agree that it's the worst 3D Mario game and yes, it's underrated. It's a great game. I'm glad some of you mentioned Kirby Air Ride. Was just playing it a week ago. I love that game. Still can't believe how poor reviews were. When I rented it years ago, I found myself surprised at how inaccurate the reviews were. I finally ended up buying it last year off eBay.
buffalobob: Castlevania Judgment has gotten mixed reviews and I actually agree that it is a underated fighting game, but compared to Street Fighter IV, Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe (Not actually considered awsome, but decent, but I think that it is!), and the upcoming Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars. It dosen't hold a candle to any of them, but it is till good. As for Mario Kart: Double Dash, it has been considered the best of the Mario Kart series by several reviewers.

I have been curious about this since it can be had so cheaply. The main criticism seems to be repetitive combat and lack of variety in the enemies. I could live with this if the game simply had the emulated arcade original, but I suspect that's not the case...
I've stoppped paying too much attention to "professional" reviews and now pay more attention to the opinions of fellow Wii fans on forums such as these and Neogaf. There's way too many reviewers with a bias against Wii games, especially if those games fall outside of the type they're accostumed to. Obviously there are exceptions to this though, I'm generalizing here.
Unfairly reviewed games that I've enjoyed a lot:
Wario Land: Shake It (Awesome game, awesome art, awesome music. The main game is easy but really enjoyable. The secret stages, challenges/missions and treasure hunting are really hard and super fun. Bosses are great too)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Seriously, why was this game mostly slagged/ignored by the critics? It's a fantastic game. Sure, the visuals are not better than the Gamecube FE, but whatever; in a game like this the graphics barely matter. The music is amazing on the other hand and that counts a lot more, to me at least. And the people complaining about the lack of difficult in recent Nintendo games clearly haven't played this one. The only valid complaint with this game is that it could have used pointer controls.)
Excitebots: Trick Racing. (One of the most fun, ridicously bizarre games I've played in recent years. I'm not even a big racing games fan, but I love this one. It simply puts at the forefront the most important aspect of videogames: fun. Great use of the motion controls too.)
Excite Truck (Same as above, though Excitebots ended up better than this one in almost every way. Still a great game though that was mostly slagged when the Wii came out)
Wii Sports Resort (This game has a metacritic score of 80. This is a definite 9,5 in my eyes. The quintessencial Wii experience. Great in multiplayer and single-player, something that was a weakness of the original Wii Sports. And really hard too, when you start going for the stamps and high-scores)
WarioWare: Smooth Moves (One of my favorite Wii games, definetely in my top 5. I still have fun with it and two different people who had never played a Wii decided to buy one after I showed them this game. I love the crazyness of the microgames and this is my favorite WarioWare game. [I haven't played Twisted though])
Endless Ocean. (A breath-taking experience. I love exploring and observing the sea life. Sooo relaxing.)
No More Heroes. (This is one of the only games that I've played in my life which really had some underlying context and critic in it. It really is a reflection on gamers and games themselves and it's a step-forward in the 'games as art' argument. But of course that hidden depth in how the gameplay relates to the story so well completely escaped to most reviewers. An example of that is how almost all reviews mentioned the fact that the city is empty and lifeless. They've all completely missed the point of the game.)
Grand Slam Tennis (I'm convinced that most reviewers didn't even try understanding the controls in this one and that's supposed to be their job. I had difficulty with it in the first hour too, I almost regretted buying it. But I tried a bit more and suddenly it clicked. Now I can place the balls wherever I want. Best tennis game I've ever played and recomended to anyone who plays the sport. Just make sure to use the MotionPlus and Nunchuck controls and go in aware that the game has a steep learning curve.)
There are some more like the first Kororinpa (I still haven't played the second one; gotta get on to that!), the three ArtStyle games, the Trauma Center games, House of the Dead: Overkill, Klonoa, the Strong Bad games and even the Rayman Raving Rabbid games (pretty good party games). The Wii really has some unique games.
I still have Battallion Wars 2 and Tenchu waiting on my backlog and I'm soon getting my hands on Wii Music and Little King's Story, so then I can see if those ones will join the party!
The Wiiware version of Tales of Monkey Island: Sure it has gotten some good reviews by professionals but it's pretty muched slamed in user reviews and comments. I found the game to be extremely fun and had kept true to the style of the series, even with the technical hiccups (I had a glitch were Guybrush would not enter his movent animation so he would just move in his idle stance; looked like he was floating everywhere lol)
Batman Begins on the XBOX maybe because I was a huge Batman freak as a kid it got rated as average most of the time but I loved it.
Gundam Seed Battle Assault for GBA. I have been a Gundam fan since high school over ten years ago. I thought the game was fun and at least an 8 out of 10 where a lot of sites game it a 5 or so.
Rogue Galaxy ps2 got a few bad reviews but I thought it was one of the greatest experiences for its generation.
Call of Duty 3 Wii while it has its share of issues and its share of mediocre to bad reviews I still enjoyed it quite a bit even though at times my controls bugged out and my crosshair started spinning out of control.
@ Castro: Great list, but Grand Slam Tennis got more "mixed" reviews that bad ones. Some "got it" like IGN or gt.com and gave good scores.
I play this game A LOT, mostly online, but I still prefer the Remote/WM+ only controlls. Placing your guy with the nunchuck is as hard as learning the right way of swinging. Please dont give new player the advice of using the remote+nunchuck set up. Getting both right at the same time can be way too hard and frustrating. Even one of both can be. New players should concentrate on swinging only.
If you are playing in "top tier", you might need the nunchuck aswell.
Favorite Song from The Crow City of Angels: I'm Your Boogie Man by White Zombie Favorite The Crow Quotes: "It can't rain all of the time!" "It's not a good day to be a bad guy, huh?!" "Victims, aren't we all!"

Enemies are recycled, and it can get annoying at times. There's a bit of RPG elements and lots of weapons. There's armor upgrades and the like. The occaisional fun minigame. There's some impressive boss battles, but nothing too amazing. It's a pretty good game, but it's kind of repetitive. The story is alright. It's nottoo great visually but it desn't bother me. There's fun multiplayer and if anyone you know has it as well, they an use their upgraded haracter in your multiplayer. It's a neat little feature.

All of these got great reviews! Battalion Wars is really good, but at th ewnd of the 3rd campaignand especially at thestart of the 4th, it can be extremely brutal (I'm still stuck). Tenchu is great fun. The controls ca be a bit wonky at times, but nothing frustrating. The final level is very epic.

WM+-only controls didn't work for me because the game would constantly position my player at the wrong side. Sometimes I wanted to do a backhand but the player would be positioned for a forehand, and vice versa. It was frustrating me a lot and was my main problem when I started playing the game. I solved it completely by plugging in the nunchuck. But if it works for you, that's fine of course. I wouldn't really recommend playing without the nunchuck though.

For some games I mentioned I was going also by the (in my opinion) unfair points reviewers brought up in the reviews themselves, not only the scores they got. I read in my many places that Wario Land is a game with no challenge at all or that WarioWare only lasts one week, so I wanted to refute those points. No More Heroes was completely discharacterized in many reviews also. I've played a bit of Batallion Wars already. I had some problems with the camera, sometimes it would spazz out and go all crazy on me. But I want to give it a more fair view and plan to play it more when I finish some other games. Tenchu looks really cool also, even though I usually suck at stealth games.
People really like to not like Wii Play. I had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed it more than Wii Sports. Cow racing, Tanks, Shooting range and Air Hockey are all ridiculously fun and I would happily buy it again if I could go back.
Same with the WiiWare Dr Mario. I haven't once had a problem with its online matchmaking (unlike Bomberman Blast), it doesn't try to stop you playing the game you really want to play (this is where I would complain about Tetris Party but they paid me in Wii Points so I won't) and it has a really nice look about it. What more can you want out of a Dr Mario game?
Oh, and while I am here.....
Super Paper Mario, don't get it. Pick up Paper Mario on VC
Klonoa is totally worth the effort
if you ever want to try a GBC game... Mario Tennis (trust me)
The NES/GB game Mario & Yoshi (Yoshi in the US) is good... but that might just be because it was the first game I owned
