@DoctorOverbuild Did you manage to get a copy?

@Charlosa No problem; glad you were able to change your order. I wasn't sure which size T-shirt to get because the Super Mario Maker shirt (size M) is long in the body yet has tiny sleeves. It's almost as if Nintendo think their fans have the same bodily proportions of a videogame character.

@Monkey_Balls: Yep I got one way before any were sold out at first!

@Octane: But the world map has branches through portals this time. I don't think the complete world map will be revealed in any other official place than in the Prima Guide.

You gonna buy the original version of Star Fox: Zero?

You gonna play the game that inspired Star Fox: Zero Originality?

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Well I know nothing can be as original and clever as that comment so what's the point in going on?

A fantastic video about the recent 'hardcore gamer outrage' in relation to Star Fox Zero's invincibility mode. I don't laugh at many people, but these 'hardcore gamers' lamenting this deserve everything they get for outing themselves as the selfish, elitist, whiny little s**** that they are.

Watch and laugh at them together!

EDIT: profanity warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hate to point it out but unless I've missed something, this seems to be one of those cases where the "outrage" is almost entirely imagined by the responder for the sake of making their point in a more snarky way.
The worst I saw was just a few people saying "well that's a bit annoying". I saw no petitions, no death threats, no hashtags being created etc etc. Outrage has to actually mean something. It can't just be "some people politely disagreed with this idea and said so in the comments"

As for the actual issue itself. I personally just prefer having a difficulty hidden away in the menu or something. The problem with Nintendo's invincibility thingies is that they tempt everyone to use them, even the people who would've ended up enjoying it more had they forced themselves to persevere.

I haven't watched the video but I have seen people pretty passionate about how this is ruining the industry and making games less fun.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

The fact that half of the comments Jim used in the video were just perfectly polite disagreement with the idea seems to suggest there's a very limited amount of outrage. I'm sure there are a few people who REALLY care about the idea, but that's true of everything.
I think what we're just seeing is what I heard called the "Outrage Industrial Complex" the other day, which is a perfect description of what happens. People in the media deliberately overexaggerate this stuff and try and generate controversy for the sake of clicks.

That could be true. Like I said, I haven't seen the video. It could also be that every time we hear about these features there are people arguing against these options. This issue is not only affecting Star Fox but other games as well.

@Dezzy: well if you want to see a specific and personal example, go and have a look-see at Gamespot's post on Facebook that they did yesterday about Star Fox Zero's invincible mode. There you will see a post from yours truly with a Lugia profile picture about a potential easy mode in Dark Souls. What happened for those of you who can't be bothered to look at it? I was insulted, called a 'Nintendrone' (lol) and grouped together with the problem that is 'a casualisation of videogames' by one particularly passionate Souls fan.

What a charming individual from what I assume is an equally charming and welcoming fanbase. I assure you that Jim hasn't pulled this out of thin air, and if you're still unconvinced stick around for if that time comes when Bloodborne 2/Dark Souls 4 has an optional easy mode. It will be impossible to avoid the outrage from that.

For some reason, because, as the video states implicitly- so what? Yet here we are, people getting insulted for daring to suggest such a thing.

-_-

'Hardcore gamers'...

@TheLastLugia:

Ok well you just seamlessly grouped Dark Souls into the same category as Star Fox. That seems to be the problem there. The argument over an easy mode in Dark Souls is different because difficulty is what was used to sell Dark Souls as a product. It's in many ways its defining feature.

You really can't say that about anything Nintendo have ever made.
So whilst I disagree with the idea in both examples, I don't really care that much about it in Star Fox or Mario. Whereas I'd be much more against it with Dark Souls. I think that really is a bad idea. It completely demolishes the sense of a community based on a shared struggle.

I disagree with that, people say the same thing about Star Fox, and Nintendo has made very difficult games.

@DefHalan:

Well some people saying that of the game retrospectively is different than them deliberately selling the game on that premise.

And with Star Fox, finishing the actual game wasn't difficult. It was unlocking all of the other routes that was. Whereas with Dark Souls it's the entire game that's difficult.
That's a fairly clear difference with anything Nintendo have ever done. They've had plenty of hard parts of games, but it's rarely at the expense of a more casual approach. Whereas with Dark Souls there just is no casual approach. It's a game that's designed to only be for enthusiasts.

DefHalan

@Dezzy: But why would it be a problem for Dark Souls to include an optional easy mode? Just like with Star Fox, it is those that enjoy playing these games with that higher difficulty that would have a problem with it being easier. The part they are ignoring is that it is optional.

You are basically saying how there is no one complaining about optional easy modes in games then saying how an optional easy mode in Dark Souls would be a problem. I am getting confused on what you position is on the subject. Both series have their difficulty and both series have people that love those games for that difficulty.

Also, Nintendo was around during arcade design times, they have made some very difficult games. They have even decided not to localize some games purely based off how difficult they made them. Don't try to lump all of Nintendo into a tiny package to fit your argument, I am surprised people try to do this with a company that has been around for so long and have tried many different things in the industry. lol
