Don't give Nintendo too much credit for the idea of spreading up this game over the whole summer. I think they did it more because of the lack of games coming to NA then anything. They just got lucky it was a good idea and will probably do it again in the future because of the warm reception it got.
I'm going to guess we get the new game mode next Friday here as it makes sense being the last day of July and the big update next month.
Tell me again besides allowing friend to have private rooms what this update will bring? I want to see a level increase, 3 rotaions maps, and the choice of what ranked battle I want. They say match making will be a problem but they also didn't predict this game selling so much. I'm sure pretty soon it will hit 2 million!
@Spoony_Tech: Exactly, Nintendo would've been in a really bad position if Splatoon wasn't so well received with the next game being Super Mario Maker in September.
@Spoony_Tech: Yeah. It was a very smart move on Nintendo's part. They handled the situation perfectly, so I would've been surprised if it didn't work. I really hope this doesn't become a habit as the novelty of that method tends to wears thin really fast, and more people begin catching on.
Only for you yanks, the rest of the world has Yoshi and Devils Third inbetween Splatoon and Mario Maker.
I've had enough of Splatoon, I've dropped to A- after 8 communication problems during a run so I'm leaving it for abit as it's really yellow liquided me off lately. I don't get no where near as many problems with any other online game.

I rarely have communication problems. Maybe it has something to do with where you've situated your Wii U?
Almost any match I have that is troubled in terms of connectivity will cancel out before it begins.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
So what kind of features or designs would you like to see in some in the future maps?
I would like to see more dynamic and lively maps, that constantly change so they feel less repetitive and more unique. Maybe based somewhere in Inkopolis, because I would really like to see more of the Inkling's world; especially since most of the Maps so far seem rather secluded.
Looks like Japan will be getting a special Splatoon demo again like the Global Testfire. Since a lot of kids are usually free in the summer, Nintendo will allow those who have the demo to play it from August 3rd until the 9th each day from 9-10 am Japan time.
@Spoony_Tech: If Zelda U comes out episodic like one of those Travelers Tales games it's all your fault now.
@Grumblevolcano: Well the voting does count for 1/3 of the score so technically you did do something, you voted in a popularity contest. And if the winning team gets more sea snails then the losing team not only are you rewarded for voting but helping your team win as well by voting for that team. I don't know which team won, but if non-playing winners got 4 and losers got 2, or loses got 4 and winners got 8, you did do something and earned your snails.
So is Camp Trigger fish Friday or Saturday night in the US? I think Friday but Damos article was a bit confusing.
We're the C.I.T.s so pity us. The kids are brats the food is hideous. We're gonna smoke and drink and fool around - nookie bound - we're the North Star C.I.T.s.

Hook line and sinker. Nintendo is going hard for this game and why not. It's been a surprise hit and get as many on board as you can. This demo will be more even leveled players to sink then in. The problem will be playing for real against seasoned players.
@rjejr aka Donna tonight 9pm Pacific. It's always that for us but it's tomorrow for the UK every time as well.
Also at this point I'll take one dungeon at a time like one ever 2 months. I actually might get through a game that way!

Normally it's the odd connection problem here and there but yesterday and today it's been fudging hell whilst my other games have been perfectly fine. A change could be good, I've got a backlog to get through and there's a few games I want that are due out soon.
Online games can be hell on one's backlog progression. I'm using howlongtobeat.com to create a list of my games, from longest to shortest, so that I have a better idea of what I can reasonably tackle. My problem is that I'll start multiple 50+ hour games at the same time. Most of my games, especially on Steam, are fairly short, though, so I'm going to start knocking out my shorter games to lessen my backlog.

@Ralizah: I'm at the last boss in Teslagrad and have been there for months. In also at the last boss on Puzzles and Dragons as well and have been there for a week. Its like less then say 5 hours of grinding or practice to beat yet I still haven't. I'm horrible when it comes to things like that.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
@Spoony_Tech: I'm pretty sure the updates are always 7PM Pacific, not 9PM. And I understand the time zones, but I still don't see why people in the UK writng about the US would use "tomorrow" instead of a day of the week to help avoid confusion.
This is what was posted THIS morning by Damo on NL, which I think was 10:30AM this morning his time.
"The map launches in North America at 7PM PT tomorrow, too."

Don't give Nintendo too much credit for the idea of spreading up this game over the whole summer. I think they did it more because of the lack of games coming to NA then anything. They just got lucky it was a good idea and will probably do it again in the future because of the warm reception it got.
NoA is also the real reason for having the current 2-map rotation system, the shop rotating system, and no voice chat. Never believe what developers say.
Furthermore, there seems to be a tease for playable Octolings or something similar in the August update. This tease is clearly also caused by the NA release schedule.

It would be amazing if we could play as the Octolings. I love their designs and it would be amazing to see more from them.
Why is Splatoon in Japan using Twitter and Spaltoon in the west using tumblr? Can't they just pick one? Or have an app w/ constantly annoying updates? Or make a website? Or use FB? Point is, just pick one. Preferably not tumblr b/c I don't even know what that is supposed to be - FB, twitter, Instagram, Meerkat?
"each day from 9-10 am Japan time" Glad to see Nintneod still has a sense of humour when it comes to demos. The demo is up in the kiosk in Tatget, last time I checked it didn't have a time limit, nor a day limit like those Best Buy demos. Advertise games or don't, why keep inventing new ways to limit demos, demos are fine just the way they are. Have an unlimited online demo but don't let people gain any rank so they are always at level 1 w/ the starter weapon. They'll buy the game or stop playing soon enough. I played all 3 hours of those betas and I don't recall ever gaining nay money or points or anything, it was like each battle was new.
