Someone made some unofficial bots for splatoon? Is this a new thing or something I've just missed before?

They're terrible (quite aside from the fact they ruin the game, especially for the poor person who ends up on a team with 3 bots). Recorded a video here: https://youtu.be/4qkUDdrXqaM It's much more obvious they're bots when you see it on the map, though sadly I don't have a recorder for the gamepad.

Anyone else experienced this?

Would this explain the player I saw today walking down the long ramp out of our base in Walleye Warehouse constantly shooting off the map to the right side of the ramp like they thought there was space there to ink? I've never seen anyone so out-of-touch before, and the lowest rank in the room was a level 7. Someone kept getting less than 200 points, and I assume it was that "person." I wound up leaving the room in disbelief.

Although I didn't watch the full video, all I saw were players spamming the A button at the spawn point to build up their special? Terrible tactics.

Could be, but I think what convinced me in my case was seeing 4 or 5 players all acting the same way in very coordinated fashion. And for like 3 games in a row before I quit.

It doesn't come across very well on the video, but the movement and coordination of actions in some cases would be incredibly difficult for any group of players to pull off. I watched these guys do weird stuff for like 3 games in a row. As in, I'm stood at my spawn watching 5 or 6 players bellyflopping in a tight group in front of me, jumping up and down in squid form on an un-inked patch of ground, then suddenly all zip off all at once. Or seeing 3 players frantically mashing A for about 30 seconds in their own spawn, then all do the same super-jump within half a second of each other or less. Fine, but seeing that happen two or three times in the same game? Watching the behaviour on the gamepad made me really convinced, seeing my other three teammates in a really tight group moving off slowly from spawn down one side of the map, but all weaving in and out of each other / doing circles round each other. For a human to do that, you'd have to have practiced a tonne and have everyone sat in the same room.

I played a lot of counterstrike back in the day and the bots from that game just had the same feel as these guys. They even had names reminiscent of those bots.

The other circumstantial factor was that this came not long after I'd had some network connection issues. It's plausible that someone had them all in a friends' only game, and left them to run. Then when they got hit by the same server disconnect as me, they all ended up accidentally joining a public Turf War battle.

Like I say, I could be wrong, but my gut instinct just kept saying "bots"

I won a ranked battle tonight on the seaspray rig where one of our players evaporated before the game started. I still can't believe it.

My other Switch is a WiiU.

I also had a game once where when it zoomed to us on spawn at the start of the game, we only had 3 players. I guess it must be an edge case of someone disconnecting between the match starting on the lobby screen and the actual level loading, or something like that.

Just had the laggiest match I've ever had by quite some margin. For at least half the match the ink wasn't showing,1 player who was jumping on the same spot over and over I shot enough to splat 3 times then disappeared and I got awarded the kill ten seconds later and then when the results came in 2 players from each side hadn't scored any points.

I've been seeing unskilled rollers not even paying attention to anybody just charging up their specials. I don't want them in my team playing like that. Also too many of them lately but most have some skill. That range needs to be nerfed a bit though.

I think they should be nerfed a bit too. For a more close ranged weapon, they have pretty good range, especially the Dynamo. The Dynamo's range is very good; I think it even rivals the range of some chargers. Then there is the added bonus that it kills you in one shot and covers a large amount of turf in the process.

Indeed the Dynamo have a scary range, in rank modes those rollers can be a true nightmare, hitting everything in a splat-zone or on the tower in a single hit, but to be fair, Dynamo are also REALLY slow, if you see a Dynamo user (in time) then it's one of the easier opponents to dodge and splat.

There is no friend's only mode in Splatoon (at the moment). All Turf War battles are public. Joining friends just give priorities to the groups where the friends are located.

Hmm, maybe that Direct rumour earlier in the thread is true after all. Xenoblade X only has a generic December release date but has just been added to the list of games you can register your interest on the Nintendo UK Online Store so a release date must be coming soon.

Does registering your interest actually do anything aside from being sent spam about the game?

@Grumblevolcano: It's been Dec 4 in the US since E3, so I'm guessing Jan 2nd in the UK. I told my kids the other day in the car I might have to give up on Ntineod after this as their lack of adequate dating is killing me. I know every AAA game these days seems to get delayed - well on PS4 anyway - but at least they usually give you a new time frame. Nintneod just skipped over Zelda U at E3 and that was supposed to be out in 2015. No date for Starfox either in any country that I'm aware of and it's their big holiday title. Too much nonsense, nto enough sense.

@rjejr: But, but what would you do with your time if you didn't spend it love hating Nintendo?! If Star Fox is indeed the "holiday title" then we already know the date within a week. Black Friday of course. I do hate they don't announce a date till a month or 2 before for whatever reason. That practice needs to stop under new leadership but I'm sure it's more NoA decision more then Japan's.

@Spoony_Tech: - It can't be NOA's fault, Reggie is a puppet. And while I may be uncontrollably addicted to posting on NL, really wouldn't mind liking Nintedo's decisions rather than hating them for a change. And while I'm worst than most w/ the negativity, you gotta admit it's been a little glass half empty around here of late. Splatoon is the bright spot for sure.

Yes. This is the map that interested me most out of the ones we knew.

That is also the last known map. So after Camp Triggerfish, all further maps we will know nothing about them, and will be real surprises.

Darn, I thought I would of been the first to spread the word of the new stage. Pretty ironic since I was playing Splatoon for most of the evening to even check my phone for the update.

In any case I am loving these weekly updates of weapons, stages, and sometimes Splatfest. It keeps giving me something new to explore.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.
