My experience with Ranked Battle Mode so far: Surprisingly positive!
I had avoided Ranked Battles because it seemed very stressful and frustrating. I leveled up to 20 playing Turf Wars, and have become quite adept at the game. So when I started ranked battles at rank C- , I crushed the opposition of players who were mostly between 10 and 15, constantly racking up 15 kills or more. One particular game, I had 19 kills and 1 death. Naturally, it'll get harder as I get grouped with higher ranked players. I thought I'd dislike the Splat Zone concept, but it works. Importantly, the maps with only one splat zone are immensely more fun than maps with two. With only one splat zone, the action is concentrated into the most intense experience the game can offer. Arowana Mall, which I don't like for Turf War, turned out to be fantastic as a splat zone map (in part thanks to that convenient extra platform that lets you take care of nasty snipers / campers). Port Mackerel, my favorite Turf War map, turned out as one of my least favorite splat zone maps. With one exception, no battles ended in a knockout (with the timer usually above 90 for both parties). Teams defended their own splat zone, and the area in between became at total quagmire of chaos. With single-zone maps, I've found my teams to have better teamwork, whereas coordination suffers greatly in double zone maps, with one or two simply camping the home base and the other players getting crushed because they don't get the backup they need while attempting to take over the opposing zone.
So far I have only tried Arowana Mall, Kelp Dome and Port Mackerel on ranked mode. Which ones of the remaining maps are single-zoned and which are double-zoned? Also, how is the win/loss point distribution in B and A rank?

Port Mackerel and Blackbelly Skatepark have 2 zones.
Man, callie and marie are really annoying, i just want to play the game
Can i kill them, please ? Whoever thought it was a good idea to hear some boring squids talking about the news report when entering a game should be fired lol

I had just the opposite experience. Jumped into ranked battles at level 15 ASAP. Felt like such a noob. Everybody was at level C- but there were so many level 20 and a lot of japanese players and everybody seemed like they were moving so fast and knew exactly what to do and I was standing still. A couple of days later went back to play w/ all the C- players and I felt much more comparable, many more players in the low teens. I'm guessing all the good players moved up in rank. It's still stressful, but I feel like I'm playing w/ people more my own speed. Up to level C+ and I'm still holding my own. Curious to see what happens when I make it to B-. Can't see myself ever making it to B. I'd rather play turf war w/ friends, but I want the B-.
I'm also opposite in that I much prefer 2 splat zones over 1, plays more like a chess match and I get to think about what to do. Too many 1 splat zones end too quickly w/ the first team to gain control winning. 2 splat zones tend to have longer battles and more non-knockouts.
Looking forward to the moving platform, that should be insane.
Someday we'll find it

I tend to start the game from the quick start screen, press ZL+ZR, mash A for a couple of minutes, then turn the TV over to the game input!
They don't bother me at all. It's Nintendo's way of saying it's time to take a break without those annoying should you take a break messages after 30 mins on other games.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Played on a Turf War session today with only level-20 players. The matches became very even and fast-paced. It's probably easier to play against/with random players on high levels, since their tactics show much more clear. Sub weapons were often used, but the specials were very rare for some reason. Great fun!
Hey guys, Uhmmmm just picking this title up today. I am super excited! But any words of advice from the way more experienced people?
FC !!- isss....4253-4623-9624 Thank you , u add me i will add u back !! :D
My NNID is NickStrife and my Mii is NickStrife so if you see me out there in either Mario Kart 8 or Smash or Splatoon thats probably me!
Is it me, or is Splatoon waaaaay less frustrating than Smash Bros.? Had a couple of fights online in Smash Bros. and I couldn't stop sulking... even if I won.
I absolutely love my Chargers. It's my go-to weapon in Ranked Battles, and my oh my am I so good at sniping others! The Aerospray MG is also cool.. now only if I can remember to do a quick turn(Y + Down) when I'm under attack. The Inkbrush... is kinda lame, to be honest.

1. use motion controls.
2. allow space to where your body reaction can move your arms to 180 turn with motion controls
3. find what suits YOU best, not what everyone else is using.
4. it can get frustrating but just try to have fun, yeah?
5. stay fresh. always.

Ink brush + Ninja squid = Squid Assassin

Yeah... No. I use the Ninja Squid and I still lost terribly with the Inkbrush. Maybe I just need to use the Inkbrush more... shrugs
well remember, you're faster running with the brush down. Clean getaways with that thing are very possible. Don't try attacking from the front. Do it from the sides or the back. Ninja squid is just a means to an end, not something you can do without it. It turns your stealth into a guessing game if they do track you.
BUT thats only if you have a bunch of your team's ink around you.
^^ I agree. It's actually very useful in maps with corners like like kelp dome. People forget to ink EVERYTHING and just do parts that get them to their goal faster(in splat zones). Just wait for an unsuspecting inking and BAM. you brush their life away.

I'm assuming you were playing against me earlier, @Spoony_Tech? If so, kudos! I was using the splat roller because it helped me rack up quick points in matches and I typically have no issue dealing with enemy players, but you provided me with an intimate reminder that roller users are sitting ducks for truly skilled players.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
So I just reached Max Lvl and B- ranking. I'm pretty happy with myself. Also, to the people a while back talking about the Aerospray RG, it has a high rate of fire and a relatively wide spread. Your only real options are to outrange or Jaws them. (Popping out of the ink and killing them faster than they can react.) On top of this, contrary to what some people have been saying, the gun is amazing at covering turf and because killing opponents gets them off the field so you can cover more turf uninhibited, it's really an amazong weapon for Turf War. On top of that, it comes witj Inkstrike, which means you can expect to be stuck behind filling in massive gaps at home base while your oppobent continues to ink ridiculous amounts of turf. Don't believe me? Then explain why Aerospray RG users are almost never under 1000? I got in a match with one that was consistently getting 1500 whenever they won.
(And for the record, my weapons of choice are the Splattershot Jr., the Custom Jet Squelcher, and now I'm gonna try getting into the Gold Dynamo Roller.)
