@rjejr I watched my son plow through the final boss today. Wow that's a long and stressful battle just watching it. He failed the first time but made it his second time. He would've beat it the first go if not for jumping off a couple times.
Yeah it was surprisingly long! I was really glad they didn't skimp out on the final boss fight, but I kept telling myself I would not like going through this again if I died.That's gotta be rough then rjejr, good luck!

I actually just beat the singleplayer today, and I guess I should avoid spoilers, but I'll say there were a lot of neat little surprises, although I'm a little disappointed with the sunken scrolls.

Ugh, I've barely played any of this game's single-player mode. I need to plow through it so that I can get the weapon unlocks!
You get most of your weapons while ranking up. You get a new one with each rank. The weapons for the most part available in single player are tied to the sunken scrolls.

Beat it on the first try after dinner, down to my last life, was a wee bit nerve wracking. I think I'll purposely not buy the amiibo now so I'm not tempted to do it again. Happy to have beaten it though. Being at rank 16 it didn't really do much for me but I needed to get it done. And I do like all the little extras Nintendo usually manages to put into it's games. I do think I'll ell anybody else I know who gets this game - well if anybody I know ever gets a Wii U - to play the single player first. Well maybe get to level 4 to get the feel for the game and go shopping, then single player, at least thru world 3, but it's worth finishing the single player I think. And leveling up your gun to Max, even if @Spoony_Tech kid didn't have to. I think Pong had just come out when I was that age, and all our tvs were B&W.

Guys I think only the boss sunken scrolls give you more weapons, btw. Also, singleplayer is the only way to get the Aerosprays, I believe, unless there's one in the last 3 levels, but it didn't look like it from the shadows.

had a blast playing with @Spoony_Tech & @Megumi Unfortunatly a few games had some player disconnect. Managed to splat an aerosprayer user with a roller a few times by been extra sneaky .

You did get me Megumi once i think. My infiltration strat was working great but eventually it became a lil too predictable in this one game i just couldn't bypass Spoony XD

I'm pretty sure Splatoon doesn't play through servers during the actual matches. There would be nothing to access from the servers anyway, and it would be expensive with all that server traffic on a free-to-play online like Nintendo provides. So it's P2P during the matches, just like MK8. The lags during matches are caused by the internet connections between players.
