Is there anything you can do in the demo outside the prescribed one hour sessions? I won't download it only to maybe end up playing it for one possible timeslot as they're all rather inconvenient for me.

Well.... you can read the manual that came with the demo because its literally the manual that will be used for the real game. So you can study the controls and other stuff before the game even comes out!

Looks like I'll just wait for the release then. Perusing a digital manual isn't enough for me, I'm afraid.

If I beat you online... Don't be surprised. HEH

There is no such option. The full control scheme is described in the online manual to the Testfire demo.

So much withheld content. I'm really annoyed by that. I get it extends the life, but still.

Also, those idol squids are CREEEPY. Did Nintendo really need to encourage that side of the internet? Am I the only one who immediately thought they were Panty & Stockings?

Overall this direct made me hate Nintendo ever so tiny bit more and dislike Splatoon more. Siiiigh. Yes, I'm exaggerating and will be over it.

I am a little confused over the hate for the future events and content in Splatoon. Should the game be delayed for this extra content to be there at launch?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Personally, I don't care too much, but yes, that's what I think the sentiment is.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

That's disappointing.

I would rather get the game now with special events in the future and more free content than get the game in august with nothing special to look forward to in the game.

I think most of the content is ready, but they roll it out gradually to build a solid community for a new IP.

Which also isn't bad. I am glad of that. It feels great to boot up a game and get a notification about some new content that was released for the game FOR FREE

Of course content will be coming over a course of time! Nintendo is trying to turn this into a big thing with a loyal fanbase! Jeez! They wanna announce stuff for the game later to keep people playing!

That would've worked better if they gave us a full game and added even more to it instead of giving us a shallow game that gradually expands into a full game over time.

Ignore me I'm just being salty. But here's a post I made over at squidboards being more sensible.

"Really disappointed. There is SO much being withheld from launch to "extend the life of the game."

We have already seen two of the stages being released later. Why are they not available at launch? They're playable. The rest I understand since they could still be finishing it.

Online match making and lobbies coming later is BS too. That's Nintendo being so behind the times and out of touch with gaming trends today, that they barely started working on it after the outcry for it following no voice chat. And they can just play it off as "WE'RE EXTENDING THE LIFE OF THE GAME!!!" and because it's Nintendo it's considered ok, they're just "finally getting with the times." It's annoying.

All the Direct did was made me question why I should even buy at launch when so much is coming out around August. It killed all hype for me honestly. :/"

Okay, okay. Don't buy the game then. Just don't. While everyone else is having a good time with the game when it comes out, you can get it later or not at all.

Online matchmaking and lobbies aren't coming later. Online matchmaking and lobbies will be there from the start, as far as I know. Later they are adding a 4 friends vs 4 friends matches and 8 player custom matches. I don't think they are removing content just to release it later (still for free) they are just releasing the game now while they finish the content which will be free. Basically they just aren't charging us for a Season Pass, we get that content for free.

5 maps and 2 multiplayer modes is a lot of content?

That's not exactly a good thing. Sure, they're not ripping you off by overcharging you for the game, but they're still putting out an incomplete experience only to update it later. It's not really worth a Day 1 purchase.

We won't know exactly how the game feels until it releases but I don't see how the experience will feel incomplete. It looks like it will enough content to justify the $60 then the free stuff later looks like it will just increase the value. If you don't want to buy it that is your choice but trying to create reasons not to buy it sounds weird to me.

Is everyone completely forgetting the single player mode?

I am not. The Single-Player Mode, 1 vs 1 Mode, Challenge Mode (plus additional challenges from Amiibo), Online Multiplayer mode, Character Customization. This game feels super full to me.

It's incomplete because the multiplayer is so shallow, 2 gameplay modes and 5 maps is a pathetic amount of content to start out with and it's definitely not going to hold people over until August.

No, but single player and multiplayer are likely going to have different audiences. Also, the multiplayer is what they're marketing the most, so for it to be so lacking is a huge letdown.
