It feels much more like a way to have more control on how people play the game at launch. Which would fit Nintendo perfectly.

The idea of focusing on a brand new game at launch seems ridiculous to me nowdays so this seems perfect for me to stay interested in the game quite honestly.

You can check the manual once you download the demo to learn about things like the controls by the way. It appears to be the manual for the full game too.

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. Does that 8 player custom match thing mean up to 4 people can play on the same Wii U? I really need more local multiplayer for my wife's sake, and I hope this is the case.

Nope, it just means you can do 8-player matches online with friends.

8 people through online. I would look into other games for multiplayer like smash or Super Mario 3D world

I swear I read somewhere that stated you can play 2 player locally online (like Mario Kart 8) on the same Wii U.

I've actually already got both of those games, I'm just hoping Splatoon could be a part of our multiplayer rotation pretty much. I've already got it preordered along with the amiibo. I just hope it's worth it. I'll play on my own anyway, but this kind of game looks like it would be a lot of fun to actually play locally. Nintendo usually doesn't just leave out local like that.

That's true most other objective based multiplayer games suffer from the problem of 2-4 out of 12 gametypes being the popular ones.

I just noticed that the Super Sea Snails are based on Mario's Super Mushroom. They even have the same face.

I loved that Direct and I pre-ordered the game and all three Splatoon, the guide and it all came with a beanie very excited for this game! Now I just need to add people to my friends list....

I was so sold on that direct I went to Gamestop today to pre-order. Told the girl behind the counter about the direct and she said no wonder we got so many pre-orders today!

I already pre-ordered this game a month ago, it's nice to see the game will be pretty good with more content on the way during the summer. It's a nice birthday present from Nintendo.

Well.... you can read the manual that came with the demo because its literally the manual that will be used for the real game. So you can study the controls and other stuff before the game even comes out!

I would have done it from gamestop, but day 1 delivery was 10$ more than amazon, and I hate walking into a gamestop.

Still crossing my fingers for a Wii remote option. If the game can work with just the right stick, it should be able to work with just pointer controls.
