The Ten Beetle-Towers
Winter is coming and so it's time to fly south again, little Para-Beetles. As our friends are leaving their home, the ten mighty Beetle-Towers (TM), Mario is cordially invited to hop on their back for a ride. Be quick, Para-Beetles are awfully impatient and don't like to wait. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/A826-000...
Another Jump on the Wall
Ahhhh. The fine art of wall jumping. Mario is going underground, to perform some beautiful jumps from wall to wall inside this gloomy cave. Jumping is highly infectious, so it's no wonder, that some walls are jumping, too. Wait, what?! https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/3C7F-000...
Bang Boom Boo
Boos are very shy and cover their faces when someone looks at them. Nothing new. But - a coward like a Boo, armed to the teeth? Well.. he is still shy... But Mario can use this for his advantage and get to places out of his reach. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/DD13-000...
@JonSpangler: I just played your new Mario and the Beanstalk 2. As with your first one, I like that the main part of the level can be played through with different routes which open up as I progress through the 'story'. It's given me an idea for a similar level where Mario starts in a 'base' level and has to visit another world a few times (with each visit accessing a different aspect of the level) in order to make progress in the base level. Your execution is very good so I gave it a star.
I'd like to have been able to grow the beanstalk myself, though given this a sequel I could assume that it is the same beanstalk from the first level . Also, there's a narrow corridor with gaps in the floor which encouraged me to sprint along it (from right to left) but at the end there was a red cannon which hit me without giving me much chance to avoid it. Perhaps this could be a regular cannon instead.
@Bosh_Factory: Thanks for the feedback. I did consider having the player grow the beanstalk each time again. But when first making the level Yoshi was going to go up with you. So i had the vine up with blocks as stepping stones. Yoshi turned out to be OP so i left him at the house.
The gaps on the floor are there to be able to use to duck under the cannon. I do see the difficulty in it though with you saying it.
@JonSpangler: The ending I got was me in the middle of two falling giant Thwomps. I went straight through the door before something fell on me so I didn't have much time to see what was there. I might have another look in edit mode to see what the alternatives are.
@Bosh_Factory: You got the "bad" ending. But nothing would of fell on you.

Bowser destroys your house and imprisons Yoshi for Mario being so greedy. Going for all the coins in the end sealed the deal.
But thats the end the third level will be based off of.
Finally unlocked all 124 costumes in Super Mario Maker. Here's the breakdown of how it happened:
14 Easy clears on 100-Mario Challenge
41 Normal clears
20 Expert clears
All Event Challenges cleared
Unlocked some costumes by scanning in various amiibo that I have
And beating that ***** of a mini-game, the Hard Gnat Challenge, and unlocking the fighter fly costume just proves once again that Nintendo are ultimate trolls. :3
I'd like to share another new course with you all. It's called Discover the Five Cloud Kingdoms. The main level is based around swinging platforms, but there are also five cloud areas for you to discover, each with a different reward. There's plenty of hidden things and a choice at the end.
I'm sorry for not replying sooner, but as you've probably seen for yourself, I played your level this morning. In fact, I actually played two of them.
As for the level you've presented here... I've got mixed feelings about that, actually. First of all, I really don't like the NSMBU overworld theme – which is totally besides the point, but whatever – but apart from that, I'm usually not thrilled about everything going on in the main area.
That's what I think the sub-area is made for. You could've painted the sub-area into the airship theme, because all these bonus areas are located in the sky, and maybe even added the Toad tune to it. That way you could've brought home another sense of accomplishment for having found these secrets.
Apart from that, however, your level was very fair – every Mario I wasted there was my own fault. The enemy placement, the fact that one could even find bonuses in the first place... it's the reason why I gave you that star. Because, as I've seen in your "Race Against the Star" level, you really have promise as a "legitimate" Mario Maker. You really value fairness, and I appreciate that.
Next time I'm with that game, I'll try out your "Underground Movement". It's your highest-rated course by far, and from what I can already see from the preview, that surely is not without reason.
~~~
Since my last post in here, I've reuploaded three of my courses:
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/DFC6-000...
While the other two are fairly standard, difficulty-wise, this level... is really not. The original course already had a completion rate lower than 1%, and I don't think the updated version will fare much better, in the long run.
The thumbnail summarizes the premise fairly well, I think. The underground portion of this course expects you not to touch any of the P switches. If you do, then you're pretty much dead. There's also an alternate route that I'd consider even worse because it also requires timing and some skill in P switch jumping. (Both ways have a checkpoint, though... so that makes it better, I guess.) =P
@DarkAero: Thanks for your quality feedback. I find that much of the fun of this game is the learning as well as the creating.
I'm not too keen on the NSMBU theme either as I sometimes do wall jumps by mistake, especially in technical sections. I used the theme here as I originally was going to use a wall-jump section to reach a cloud but I decided against it and didn't consider changing the theme.
I agree with putting the hidden cloud areas in sub-areas. In addition to increasing the feeling of achievement it would also give me more space to create something interesting, maybe a mini-puzzle. I'm going to modify this level to incorporate this.
My two latest uploads have yet to be beaten. If anyone here would be willing to give them a go, I'd appreciate it. They're not even that difficult, I swear.
After what feels like forever, I've just uploaded an all-new level. It's a SMB1 underwater course named "Pelagic Sanctuary" that, I think, values design over difficulty.
You begin this level falling to your doom, but don't skip just yet. Hold right and run, and you'll be safe. The rest is for you to figure out Warning: Even after mastering the beginning, you will die a lot. But there are no troll blocks or anything that you have to guess what to do. Sure it'll be too late once you see it, but next time you'll know. Hopefully you will succeed in overcoming the imposing darkness of "Stay Happier~"
I lead the way through the great unknown! Never knowing what I'll find...
I'm searching, expecting, exploring, connecting... So no one has to feel they're left behind.
-Wittgenstein, The Brave Little Toaster To The Rescue
@DarkAero: I don't normally like underwater courses as the slow movement frustrates me, but your course allowed me to get up some speed and didn't restrict me too much. I liked that there were two exits, and that to get the better one I had to take a harder route. That route was a bit more frustrating but it was my choice to take it so I have no complaints about it. The "?" boxes were well placed near enemies so I had to earn the right to get the prize - this makes the power-ups feel like a reward instead of a free hit-point (though maybe the first mushroom in a course should be easy).
That pipe trick - I should have known better
As a small suggestion, you could make the land section mirror the underwater section in some ways. I noticed that you have mirrored the green vine things but you could also use a pit of Piranha plants and the same coin patterns also.
GameXplain is doing another stream in 30 minutes...this time i just gave them my normal 1-1 remix. No clue how good Ash is, so...yeah. anyways it's on Youtube if you want to use Twitter to give them one of your levels to play.
