Some guy from Japan left 3 comments on one of my levels. They weren't text though, and he used the happy emote and tons of exclamation points. I sadly don't know what it means.

I am a HUGE Super Mario World fan! I have had a lot of experience making stages in SMW style with various programs that I wont get into
If you, like me, LOVE Super Mario World, I think you will enjoy my stages. These stages are intended for players who have got all 96 exits on Super Mario World, and who were left itching for more! The difficulty is in the region of Bowser World to Special World.
Some stages are long, I have made them with the intention of adding checkpoints, sadly we cant add them, but I have my fingers crossed for Nintendo to add that functionality in the future.

My stages are also available on the NintendoLife "Share Your Levels" App https://www.nintendolife.com/super-mario-maker/users/Dazran303
There never really seems to be much activity from users on there rating stages by stars or hearts.
I was first on the list for ratings ages ago, but the guy in first is walking away with it xD
My problem with paid DLC is I will feel obligated to use all the new stuff. Whenever I make a new level I will feel I have to use it to get my moneys worth. If it's free, making courses will feel a lot more natural.
I want DLC, but I am a hard sell when it comes to it. I have yet to buy any Nintendo DLC and I own every big game that offers it. It feels too much like being up-sold. If SMM paid DLC does come out, it will have to be a lot of good content at a good price for me to consider it, and even then I might decide against dropping more money into a game I paid full price for. Part of me hopes there isn't paid DLC at all because if I don't purchase it, the feeling of not having all the tools at my disposal could make me less inclined to build levels, and eventually lose interest in the game as a whole.
If they did offer paid DLC, they would have to make levels containing parts from the DLC unable to edit from people who don't own it. This makes things messy, and if they have a 2nd DLC pack, things get even messier in this regard. Free DLC gets around this, everyone has it, everyone can edit.
In this day and age, it doesn't sound to difficult to get some slopes in the game...
I don't understand why they didn't put them in the game in the first place. Slopes were essential in the games Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I hope there will be a DLC with slopes and checkpoints.
Super Mario Maker is getting an update on 11/04! Gentleman (and Ladies) - we now have CHECKPOINTS!!!!
Here's the info from Nintendo's press release
With the addition of mid-level checkpoints, users now have the option to add flags to their levels, allowing players to start at the selected point if they lose a life – rather than having to start over at the beginning of the level. Players can choose to edit and re-upload their own levels, or create new levels from scratch using this feature. Shaking an arrow sign item from the course parts palette will allow you to place a checkpoint flag.
Following the update, players can also insert power-ups that are dependent on Mario’s status. For example, by attaching a Super Mushroom to a Fire Flower and placing it inside a block, Mario will receive the Super Mushroom when he is small, and the Fire Flower when he is large.
The software update also introduces Event Courses in the game’s Course World online hub. Event Courses will feature levels from partner creators outside Nintendo. One of the first Event Courses will be “Ship Love,” the winning level from the “hackathon” event that was held at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park earlier this year. Facebook is the first outside partner in the United States to design a level for Super Mario Maker; employees had the opportunity to design and present their creations to a panel of judges before the winning level was selected.
The level that was featured in the final round of the Omegathon event at this year’s Penny Arcade Expo event will also be available for players to experience shortly after the update goes live. New Event Courses will be added to the listing on an ongoing basis, some of which may even feature new Mystery Mushroom transformations. Additionally, a new Official Makers section in Course World will be added after downloading the update, featuring specially selected courses, including some created by Nintendo.
I wanted to create some fun, short Legend of Zelda amiibo courses, so I decided to put them all in one level. At the beginning, just pick who you want to play as: Gannon, Link, Sheik, or Zelda, then play their short level styled just for them. Gannon against fire and power, Link being courageous against a lot of enemies, Sheik showing off her jumping skills, and Zelda using her wisdom to get past a few puzzles. You only have to play one section to beat the level, but to get the full experience, replay-ability is there and you can play it 4 times with a different experience each time! Enjoy!
@bezerker99: I actually wasn't even aware of Gnat Attack! I seem to remember hearing something about it, but I never found it in the game. I'll try shaking some Munchers and stuff, but don't tell me how to unlock it if that's not right. I'll figure it out at some point
Some stages are long, I have made them with the intention of adding checkpoints, sadly we cant add them, but I have my fingers crossed for Nintendo to add that functionality in the future.
I don't understand why they didn't put them in the game in the first place. Slopes were essential in the games Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. I hope there will be a DLC with slopes and checkpoints.
I think the reason for no slopes was were trying to achieve gameplay consistency with SMB, the worlds in the CourseBot have four levels per world just like SMB too.
I wonder if you actually need to use the checkpoint if you add it to your level.
Otherwise, people can troll by putting the checkpoint in a tricky area, and passing the level by not using it. Then someone accidentally touches the checkpoint, and then they are trapped, sort of what the video showed.
