Or maybe it's because Nintendo barely knows the internet exists and doesn't have a single game, let alone 10 or more, that would be demanding on their servers...

slow clap Old news still entertain you, huh?
Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 7 and Pokémon X/Y heavily disagree. The Kid Icarus community might fade slowly (during the first year, online was filled to the brim), but Mario Kart and Pokémon burst with activity - seamlessly, that is. Add to that Steel Diver (which is already well underway), and you already have a handful of games which work great.
Also keep in mind that they'll soon add Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. to the list, with X rounding it up by the end of the year. But they still won't charge for it, because they know how to do it right.

I was referring specifically to the Wii U. I can sort of see your point, but it kinda goes back to what Shinji said: Nintendo simply wouldn't be able to get away with charging for online. They just don't provide enough services, features and games that would require it.

One would argue that the VC would be the perfect way to foster online if they teamed the Roms to support multiplayer and leaderboards.

Problem is Nintendo is pretty damn in consistent. NES Remix supports stamps like 3D World, but it doesn't have any leadeboards despite being a score attack game. Stamps are cool but they can only be used in games, instead of miiverse as a platform. Super Luigi U and Donkey King (to my knowledge) .

Its funny they're at the Sam juncture that Sony was with their online interface around this time with the PS3.

I know, and I certainly hope Nintendo can pull themselves out of that rut the way Sony did...

So are we making progress or has this become a thread for venting?

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Argument are simply evolving into something new all the time. It seems weird, but this all pertains to the topic still.

Okay, that's quite true. Miiverse, eShop, and most other online services outside of gaming itself really feel like a chore. They have long loading times, stiff navigation, and are somewhat unorganized. It's not really fun to browse through those, and when I think about how the eShop would work with a library comparable to PS3, I really can't help but frown. Miiverse has the benefit of doubt, since there's nothing comparable on Sony and Microsot's end (yet), but it still feels unfinished.

I was thinking of more things on top of that. The Wii U lacks features like cross-game voice chat, universal accounts, achievements, media features, etc. I actually didn't mind paying for $50 a year for Xbox Live because it was a fast and fully-featured service, and while I don't care about Games for Gold, it's a nice perk to have as well nowadays. Nintendo doesn't currently offer stuff like that, and some of that stuff I don't see happening even by the next console. You certainly have a point with what you said. I wouldn't want to pay for PSN simply because Sony tends to have slow download speeds, and while I haven't seen the PS4 PSN, the PS3's store is a chore to navigate.

I've never had a problem with the PS3 downloading wise, I was not long in the DKCTF forums. One person was saying thay've been downloading DKCTF for over a day which only 11GB, now is that the Wii U fault? More like "there" internet speed, I agree navigating the PS3 PSN menu is sluggish as hell but I'm not surprised as it is free. The PS4 PSN makes the WiiU feel like the PS3 PSN and that's no joke, unlike the WiiU there are no loading times waiting to get into the PS4 PSN.

Art direction for this game is pretty imprrssive. Hasn't been this excited for a JRPG since Braverly Default and Persona 4.

The 6th man from the right looks like he was taken straight from Assassin's Creed.

To be fair, Random guy wearing a hood isn't exactly the most original of designs. I was thinking more like a monk or something, personally.

Man, no way the Wii U can handle this.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

CanisWolfred

I like the art, but then again, it's supposed to be a "fantasy based on reality", so it looks realistic while still having some fantastical flair, and that's something I've kind of always wanted to see. I'll admit that my second favorite artstyle in a Final Fantasy game was FF8, since it took a similar approach. (Granted, my favorite is FF9)

To be honest even if it were put on the Wii U, I would still get on the PS4. I mean, I don't see how the gamepad could even be used outside of an unwanted add-on. Also Square-Enix isn't in the spot to be trying to reach an audience that might not even exist. At this point in time if you want RPGS just buy a Sony console.

...nothing. Giana Sisters, and Candle are all confirmed to have Direct X11 level graphics. That KH3 and FF15 not being able to run on Wii U was just a rumor that people fell for.
They are using DirectX 11 to develop those games, but they ultimately pair it with whatever specs are available for the best results(this only applies specifically to how SE is handling their games, as far as I know).

EDIT: My mistake, I don't think Ubisoft ever said anything about Direct X11; only that they were adopting their engines to better utilize the Wii U. Project Cars uses Direct X11, though.

I like Kingdom Heart's 3 art direction way more than FF XV's.
Sora looks wayyy cooler than Noctis to me.
I'm actually more excited about that new Tales game than FF XV.
