I missed the TMNT in time re-shelled game when it was re-released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and trying to get hold of an original snes copy will cost you an arm and a leg!! Please can someone release this again as I am sure it would sell loads of copies (physical and digital) on all formats, especially the switch. If you feel the same way, between us all let's try and get this to happen. NL, if you feel the same way too? Please sprinkle some of your magic dust on this potential project??!!!

The real project is the licensing issues.
Viacom/Nickelodeon controls the franchise and licenses out who can do what with it. Ubisoft would need to either get that license back or get permission from whoever does hold it (I don't know who currently does). But, then Konami may also need to be involved as the Re-Shelled game is a remake of their original arcade game. So, we're looking at potentially needing 3 or 4 different companies to both want to do this and to agree to it.

As far as the originals go, seeing as how Konami doesn't seem to have any issues releasing their old games as collections, I would assume the licensing involved here is what's keeping them from releasing their 5 notable beat 'em up TMNT console games from that era.

I played the demo back in the day for Re-Shelled and I sadly wasn’t very impressed. It’s been a while but I remember the visuals as being pretty dull and the redesigned Turtles weren’t very appealing compared to the colourful sprites of the Konami game that were very faithful to the ‘80s cartoon.

However the main problem with the game was one that most (all?) 3D sideways scrolling beat ‘em ups seem to have, namely that the fighting occurs in 3D space, so if an enemy was a little bit further up the screen you needed to turn to face them to hit them, making combat quite fiddly and requiring lots of exact lining up to land a hit. In older 2D fighters when enemies were slightly above or below the player they could still be hit without having to fuss over exactly aligning yourself with the enemy sprite.

I think Shadowthrone’s suggestion of a Konami compilation of their NES, SNES, GameBoy and Megadrive Turtles games would be a an insta-buy for me. Or even better, how about a Turtles in Time 2 done in a retro style? Foot soldiers dressed up as Roman soldiers, Nazi officers, medieval knights, mafia mobsters, etc. There’s just so much potential in the time travel concept.

@Shadowthrone Yep, unfortunately you are correct, doable but difficult. Well, here's hoping that maybe one day they can come up with something between them to make my dream a reality??!!

@BulkSlash I did hear the re-shelled version was not quite up to the standard of the original. As for your ideas on TMNT in time 2, that sounds interesting and I agree that there is so many places they could take this and in a Streets of Rage 4 remake style, well I think this could be a real winner?! I just hope somebody somewhere can make this happen!!

Throwing this into the mix as well, apart from a 1 player campaign mode, there could also be an online 4 player campaign mode as well as an online 4 player vs 4 player Super Smash Bros style arena battle mode. Yep I think the possibilities are endless with this game? Here's hoping!
