@mamp, if you mean a certain dragon thats a dark shaded color, hehe then I see what you mean. Well no hard feelings I guess, you just came off as short at first.
Even though I liked both R/S and D/P, I personally preferred D/P because of the introduction of Wifi battling and trading, plus I found the story far more interesting in D/P
So the two worst generations of games are pitted against one another... Fortunately the third generation is still excellent, unfortunately Diamond and Pearl are nearly terrible (the same cant be said of Platinum, but I lack experience with it, but I know tis not nearly enough to match gen 3).
Mechanics wise they both had some major mix-ups, natures and limited EVs in gen 3, while gen 4 made typed attacks able to be physical or special, although it also had stealth rock...
I'll vote for D/P. It was my introduction to the series though so I'm biased. I stil have a fondness for my first pokémon ever, piplup. Really liked my dialga too.

I'll join in to save the day! Ruby and Sapphire. Had some of the best Pokemon (Tropius, Gardevoir, Metagross, Aggron, Rayquaza, MUDKIP!!!), and I had a blast when I first played it. D/P felt like a chore to play at times.
