Does anyone here like edutainment? For some reason, I've always loved edutainment.
My favorites are: Mario is Missing (although I've never owned a copy, I've seen an LP of it and I wish I had the DOS version) Ecosaurus (a game heavily emphasizing recycling and conservation) Oregon Trail Series (I prefer OT1, OT3, and OT5) Carmen Sandiego (I prefer the Learning Company remakes) Amazon Trail Yukon Trail (although it got too easy)
Apparently I played one, it was a LONG time ago though...I'm guessing they're education games and stuff, which I tend to avoid, lol. Whatever, I did love that Oregon Trail.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Don't forget Number Munchers. We had that and Oregon Trail. I didn't know back then that Oregon Trail was so popular across the country. I thought it was an Oregon exclusive growing up, seeing as I live in Oregon lol. But yuck no not Mario is Missing or Mario's Time Machine. Those games were pretty terribad.
Lessee, Number Muchers, Oregon Trail (Nice to see one other person on the Internet from Oregon), I quite enjoyed the first Math Blasters, the first Carmen Sandiego on the PC, Mario is Missing on the SNES honestly wasn't that bad, nor was Mario's Time Machine, though MIS is the better of the two.
One terrible one I remember from School was called Tumbling Tetrominos. It was a Tetris clone. What set it apart? The pieces stayed in the air; you had to manually press down each space you wanted the piece to move down. They never moved on their own.

Actually, Oregon Trail (as well as Number Munchers) was originally developed in Minnesota by a state-funded company (before it was sold off to private investors). I'd guess it was popular because it was the only game with violence that they'd let kids play in school. And because they could name their characters toilet words. From what I've heard, Mario is Missing for DOS (with its bad art) is responsible for "Weegee".
I did score for my high school Scholar's Bowl (known as "Quiz Bowl" to most people) team by answering a question I learned from playing through the campaign. "What is the name of Germany's capital building?" thinks back to mission objectives for last chapter of CoD: WaW... "Storm the Reichstag!" Answer: "Reichstag!" "Correct!" 5 points for me!
Learning is for neeeerrds. Joking, I am a bit of a nerd. But I only like edutainment if I don't know it's edutainment.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I loved the Junior Field Trip series as a child when I had them on the PC. They were pretty fun to play while it lasted. Too bad I ruined the computer by accident. >_<
