@NEStalgia Not connected to the cloud. If I was the Xbox would have uploaded them. But I am 100% sure that MS did not warn me about that and after that I searched the internet and many people complained that their captures just disappeared.
I see zero reasoning in that. ALL other consoles that support captures are not making such shenanigans.
@Zuljaras Yeah, deletes shouldn't be automatic. Switch has the hard 10k limit but it warns you and stops you from taking more. Not sure about PS4...I honestly haven't taken many screens on there.
Since there's now a share button on the SX, there's at least some reason to be hopeful there's a better focus on it. Though if there is, that update would likely apply to One now as well.
@NEStalgia On PS4 all screenshots and videos are separated. All screenshots are further separated by folders for every game and inside chronologically. Nothing is deleted.
On the Switch you have 1000 limit of you do not have SD card and (as you said) 10 000 if you have one. And you get a warning when you reach both limits.
Currently on my One X I purchased a USB Drive specifically for this purpose to keep my captures. Because I had a whole game captured with screenshots for memorable moments and they were deleted (RIP Arkham Asylum journey! ).
Still the Filtering in the Xbox UI is NOT working as it states Filter by Game and the filter field is empty ... but I still see the damn captures from my games below. And on top of that they are all scrambled.
I really hope that MS focus on improving user experience because the things they fail at the competition has it on day one.
PS: I still Love my One X and will not sell it for Series X to replace it
@Zuljaras That almost sounds like you have database corruption for your screens. The filters work as stated, for me. Always have.
I DID get a corruption scramble back when game folders were new, and the whole thing got corrupted if I put too many in one folder. I had to delete them all and start again to fix that. Maybe something like that happened with your screenshot data?
@Zuljaras The PC naming makes sense with the filenames, but the filters on the console should be using the metadata. I'll check again on the SX tonight....it's possible they made improvements. You'd think so with the addition of a share button.
Someone needs to make a list of games that have not been officially optimized for the Series S/X, but get a massive boost automatically due to dynamic resolution and uncapped framerates in the original game.
I noticed that GTA4 on the 360 had an uncapped framerate, but never got anywhere near to 60fps on the original console. So now it's pretty much flawless 60fps.
Other games like Doom and Titanfall 2 were 60fps from the start, but relied on dynamic resolution that often dropped quite low to maintain the 60fps. So both of those will now probably be 1080p constantly.
I wonder what gaming would've looked like if Microsoft gave up on Xbox. An interesting article I saw on Pure Xbox says Microsoft were considering ditching Xbox as a whole after the initial failure of XB1.
@Grumblevolcano The industry has been rockier than it looked. Shu Yoshida confirmed years ago that after the dire straights of "But it won the generation after the generation ended!!!1" PS3, if PS4 had not done well they would have closed Playstation. And now Phil confirms what we already thought at the time, after X1 they would have closed XBox. If either of them were to have vanished, we'd have been stuck in a morass of a monopoly vs. PC. Plus Nintendo who would not have moved to fill that void and take one or the other on head-on.
Maybe another company would ave emerged, but I feel like the only thing any company wants to get into is digital subscriber services, not consumer electronics. Maybe Apple would have launched iPippin.
Ok so I just marathoned through Gears 4, purely because it took up 100GB and I didn't want to waste that much hard drive space.
Pretty great game overall. I dunno why it never got a very positive (or loud) reception. Not quite as good as the original trilogy, but not much difference.
The main negative was probably just the new characters are all a bit flat. They desperately tried to recreate the Uncharted vibe where they're all a bit sarcastic and making constant witty quips, but it completely fails to land.
Well, after owning a fair few consoles over the years, I'm now the proud owner of my first XBox! Series S arrived yesterday evening (DPD are delivering on a Sunday now apparently!?!). Unfortunately I'm not allowed to open it until Christmas
I don't think my wife will budge on this; I even tried to bribe her with one of her presents early, but she's not having it. Oh well, will just have to work on that Switch backlog in the meantime...
I can't overstate how much I love Forza Horizon 4. I'd only played it for a few hours on the Xbox One, so I knew it was great, but now I've spent a lot more time with it on the Series S. This is probably the best first party Xbox game of the generation. Although I haven't played Gears 5 yet, so that might overtake it.
Makes me really excited to see what they manage in Horizon 5, which I assume will be coming in a couple of years. Also makes me excited for Fable given that it's the same developer.
Oh, I'm expecting great things from Horizon 5. There'll probably still be a bit of location bias in saying 4 is my favourite when 5 releases (same of which has happened with Watch Dogs) but I'd be surprised if 5 is genuinely worse.
@Zuljaras Hm, sounds a bit all over the place, going by the updates. But provided the worst of it is actually true, then I think they may have made a very big mistake, again.
I was gonna say that it might also be a good idea to post this/report this to Fraser over at PureXbox, but then I found you had already done that.
