It's due out this holiday, right? Unless this is some really old build of the game, they've got their work cut out for them, in that case.

@Ralizah I still feel like every Sony fan misses the entire concept of what xbox is. Which is why every conversation goes in circles. Everyone compares to Sony's 1990s inspired business model with exclusives etc. I wouldn't buy any console for the exclusives, with the exception of maybe Nintendo.... But they generally have so many and i have a nostalgia bias for their series which Sony doesn't play to, overall, as theyre more new ip focused. I buy the best PLATFORM, not the machine with an extra dozen games. Xbox = Surface Gaming. NOW theyre getting into exclusives more because they must. But the whole point of Xbox from the very start in 2000 was Windows in the living room..... It's a gaming PC for less with more convenience. Yes there's pros and cons, but to a degree it's what the pseudovaporware Steam Machine wanted to be but never was.

This gen is starting out to look like 7th gen. I think XSeX is a more straight forward design, with win10 DX support, so PC games are easily ported. Keyboard and mouse are supported. Amd Freesync of supported. I'm guessing despite being less popular at least at first developers will lead with xb/pc and port to ps5, with the net result that third party runs better on it on average.

I'll get a PS5.... Maybe early, maybe not. Maybe after slim is out and it's cheaper. Probably an all digital version for cheap for BC and atlus and Sony games. But that's just it. By generation end they're will be a dozen games. 2 dozen if it's a great gen that I'd need that box to play. Xb won't offer that many alternative games that are exclusive probably, but that doesn't matter if it's a better platform to play most games on overall. That's what ps fans seem to not understand as the appeal....

Now so for weeb material, that was my reason to favor Sony before. But while PlayStation dons ever more if the RIAA/MPAA/BMG/EMI/Columbia colors more and more, it's not aweeb console anymore. Nintendo gets that now. So between the two shooty pow pow consoles.... The better platform is my first pick.

Also, im not an anti sony person. I like their games, presentation, and the color blue.... Green is sickly looking, imo. But i don't have the "pride of ownership" of it I once did, and given the choice of buy game X on PS or XB, i have much less incentive to buy it on PS. And when picking one console.... They've trained everyone to buy the console with those blockbuster games on it, but that still makes up a tiny fraction of what you actually play. Humorously, be I've bought all the non horror Sony games, and still haven't played most of them more than an hour . And I'm holding out for ff7r on xb to go with xiii.

I enjoy the PlayStation when i play it. But it's still the mark Cerny console, not the Japanese console it once was. Japanese PlayStation was a different animal all together. And in that regard, it's an x86 non windows box emulating xbox, the actual windows box.

@NEStalgia Whatever Xbox started as, it's literally just another console now. Both PS4 and Xbone are walled-garden computers where you can only play games from one major company. And without almost any of the benefits of using an actual computer.

Anyway, exclusives make up a tiny percentage of a console's total library, but they're often the best and most important games on a system. And, for someone like myself who avoid 98% of third party AAA games like the plague, they are what I buy a system for. Even if only a few really good ones release per year, that's still enough alongside the few interesting third party games that release. I don't have endless amounts of time to play five games every month anyway.

Sony might have sold out to its Western branch and betrayed glorious Nippon, but, for better or worse, there is still a lot of love in Japan for the Playstation brand. Enough that the PS4 got almost everything Japanese this gen. Even if the marketing and the big sellers are all very Western, it's still, quite easily, the best weeb console on the market (although PC is quickly becoming the weeb platform to end all weeb platforms, since it's getting all the Japanese console stuff in addition to the flood of visual novels it always got, and many of which are easily playable in English now).

Anyway, even if they're a fraction of the library, if I have to pick between two platforms that are identical in most ways, but one is missing, like, 10 - 20 of the best games released that generation, it seems like an obvious choice to me which system is going to be more satisfying to own in the long run.

I feel like next-gen might have an interesting dynamic, though. PS5 will obviously be the better buy in a longer sense in terms of having a better library of games to play, but XSX will actually be more attractive early on in terms of offering a lot more to play right away, between extended BC with older Xbox gens and, of course, access to many, many games with GamePass. Microsoft will hopefully aggressively price their console in order to establish dominance early on. Even if I obviously prefer the Playstation brand, I do think they need a black eye every now and then to teach them some humility.

History teaches us one thing: the initially cheaper console almost always wins a generation. That won't happen with Series X, though. Bring out the 1080p, $349.99 PS5-slaying Series S, Microsoft!

@Ralizah yes, a walled garden computer. Still, you haven't owned an x1 but owned 360, right? 360 felt like a ps clone... It was the weird xb that way. Og and x1 feel much more like "surface gaming"as i described it. It's the little things. But if you do get a 1080p XSeX..... You might find you really prefer it as an environment. Or since you still play pc you might find it redundant but worse... But that's sort of my point.

If both xb and ps5 are 100% about 3rd party aaa. Xbox always was. Ps went that route when they chose x86 because ea,acti,2k,ubi wanted it. The exclusives are a block Friday doorbuster to make you choose their box to play cod on. Nintendo isn't different by choice..... Nes didn't make money from Mario, Mario made you buy duck tales and marble madness on there. If you personally aren't interested in the third party aaa games, honestly, both ps and xbox are best avoided.

Probably the most economical route is buy nintendo. Buy a previous gen ps just for those few games, and ignore xb that's not really about selling the few games as much as it is about being and ecosystem for all your gaming.

As for Japan, remember For Honor was leading the sales charts they're for a while. They make the weeb stuff for the West now. It's an export. There was about as much point putting it on x1 as there was wiiu...... But that's been changing.

But we definitely are looking at 2 different things. You're looking at "where most of the 20 best games" are. I'm looking at where if rather play any of the 500 games i may be interested in at any point.

@Ralizah It's ok, you can just say "i really love Bloodbornes lore, anything a David a Cage, and there's just no camera like Naughty Dog Camera (TM) and would never choose the platform I can't get them.

Ralizah

@NEStalgia It's telling that you describe Microsoft's most wildly successful console as being the "PS-like" one.

If I get a 1080p XSX, it'll be for the few Xbone games I can't get on PC (Rare Replay ;_;), cheap access to next-gen exclusives, GamePass, and so that I have a suitable console to play Cyberpunk 2077 and my physical Xbox 360 games on (because the 360 has an amazingly bad controller).

Actually, that's a lot of reasons, innit? I probably won't get BOTH a Series S AND a PC upgrade (I've seen some cute cases, but I mean substantial, meaty upgrades for the occasional fancy new game I want to play), so we'll see what happens. Watch Series S be digital-only and throw a wrench in my plans. Or, worse, be a shell of a system designed for xcloud streaming!

Honestly, after seventh gen, I was all but prepared to abandon home consoles. That was a pretty awful gen, all things being equal. But Japanese console gaming has significantly rebounded since then. It won't go back to like it was in the good old days when everything worth buying was Japanese, but it's still significantly improved. With Personas and Resident Evils and Dragon Quests and Final Fantasys coming out that are actually good, I can't afford to go full handheld.

Anyway, while I buy consoles with exclusives in mind, the 1000 other games you keep mentioning will be on both systems as well. It's not a choice between good exclusives and everything else.

You say weeb stuff is primarily an export now, but Japanese companies still look to how those games are received in the motherland, and with smaller companies like Nihon Falcom, the West is still a secondary concern at best.

@NEStalgia
Xbox 360 in my opinion was the last Xbox machine with cartoonish casual games exclusively on Xbox 360.
Kinect games were the selling point for casual gamers like me who want to play different games.
On my list, i have between 10 - 12 Exclusive Xbox 360 games with most of them are casual Kinect games. And of course Dance Dance Revolution Universe series.

I didn't see Xbox One as something worthy to buy as most of the games were exactly same as PS4 have + PS4 games could be play offline straightly without online checking.
I really never understand the appeal of Game Pass, powerful specs of Xbox Series X and all about AAA games talking by majority of adult male gamers here.
I didn't see those Gigantic specs are selling points for me.
The things i only care from every consoles are just about casual and kiddie games.
Forget AAA, forget OMG Realistic graphics, forget boring racing games, forget shooting games, forget Game Pass, forget about BC by license update, forget about powerful specs ever.

@NEStalgia I don't think every game needs to be a graphical showcase. But Halo is their biggest brand, and their launch title. So I expected more of it. It's telling that the Series X patch won't even be ready until 2021. And I'm not just talking about graphics alone. Even the gameplay seems to go back ''to the old days''. It's just another Halo game. Maybe it's open world? Maybe not. Maybe only partially? The wording on that is a bit confusing. We shall see.

@NEStalgia The biggest benefit of PC is the competition. If Xbox wants to be a convenient PC, it needs to have GOG, Steam and EGS on it

But I don't think it matters how they want to be seen, or what they internally think of themselves, because at the end of the day they are competing with other consoles for a spot under your TV. I certainly don't think the average customer views them as anything other but just another console. So this idea that Xbox transcends consoles sounds nice on paper, but you need to convince the general public first.

@NEStalgia Do you get a dollar every time you post a smiley face?

Credit where credit is due. On Xbox you'd never see a ''Pikmin 3 Deluxe''; a full priced port of a seven-year-old game. They'd just let you play your old games on a new system.

@Octane I Hope So! Is it Working?

Yeah...and when they do a re-release they give you a total remaster of 3 games plus 2 more as a cheap DLC. And include it free in your sub..... (Just wait for the PS4 Classics re-releases, too.....if it works for Nintendo.... )

Unless Nintendo does something amazing, or Sony's really keeping quiet and holding the goodies back, it's looking like Halo Infinite is the best full size new game for holiday 2020, even if it looks like a Saturn game.

Oh, and Cyberpunk.....(assuming it's not just an imaginary hype monster.)

Getting close to the end of Gears 3. This is definitely my favourite in the trilogy. The gameplay and pacing has just been near-perfect. Even if Gears 2 is maybe a bit better in its atmosphere and story, Gears 3 is just a bit more fun.

Lol yeah you nearly forgot the ACTUAL main holiday game there. I hope Halo is good and sells well, but I think Cyberpunk is going to completely own it. A lot of people super-hyped for that, and it comes out on more platforms.
I'm almost definitely getting both though. Those were 2 of my 3 main anticipated games of the year. The other being FF7.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

I have written on my shopping list in the future at least 4 or 5 PS5 games i want to play since from the weeks of PS presentation and some games trailer.
1. Astrobot Playroom (1st party)
2. Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart (1st party)
3. Planet Coaster (3rd party multi machines)
4. Overcooked: All You Can Eat (3rd party remastered)
5. Crash Bandicoot 4 ??? (Still not really sure about this but the cover looks nice though)

I guess those are very good starter PS5 games for me. 😛
I still haven't found at least 1 Xbox series X exclusive game that stole my attention yet but i keep my eyes peeled on it just for curiosity.

With Nintendo bogged down in ports and remasters and Microsoft releasing... erm... Halo... Cyberpunk has a good chance to just sweep the holiday season. The hype for that game is monstrous, and all of the previews make it look really good. I just hope it runs well on PS4, since I don't really want to have up upgrade my OS for one game on my PC.

@Anti-Matter Yeah, several of those are on my list as well. I don't count overcooked. I own 1 and 2 on x1 and switch already.... That's enough for me! Xb exclusives, yeah, no ori 3 yet, but an ori 2 patch for free (cough see that nintendo?).

There will be family games. Yes not Microsoft's strong suit but they won't ignore that market. We'll see what the next showcase has.

At least nintendo is busy releasing games we already bought..... Makes it easier to justify the others.

Actually, i miswritten Crash Bandicoot 4 as PS5 game. 😅
It should be Earthlock 2 for PS5.
Btw, i found the cover of Xbox series X game was a bit mess with some notifications on the cover.
Almost like USK rating and PEGI rating on the cover.
Overall it still looks identic with Xbox One game cover.
