Yeah I don't think the consoles will really get delayed. Maybe a delay from September until November at the very most. I don't think they'll want to miss the holiday spending season though.
There's also no way the world economy is still gonna be shut down at that point. That really would be a case of the cure being worse than the disease.
I'd guess that not pushing the launch out (as we can assume they won't) is going to result in serious stock shortage for both consoles, beyond what could normally be expected around launch.
Highly doubt either will get pushed out of November launch however I don't think it's unreasonable to expect both will be pretty scarce for a few months into 2021. Get your preorder money ready!!
90% or higher. If they're true to their word about each disc essentially being their own complete package, with minigames, sidequests, and their own story arc, I see no reason why it wouldn't be an instant classic after everything I've seen, heard, and played via the demo.
It's happened before with series that were more blatantly episodic, so I don't see why that alone would be an issue. It depends more on whether or not what we get feels more like a complete product. If they structure it more in the vein of, say, Trails in Cold Steel: where yes, it's part 1 of the story, but few who have played it would say their time felt ill-spent - rather than Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 1, where it more noticably felt like a full game that was chopped into pieces - then I think it stands a chance of earning those high marks based on its own merits.
@CanisWolfred The original FFVII wasn't though, that's what I was meaning. I think the decision to split the full FFVII game into multiple episodes spread out over years will hurt review perceptions slightly.
Going to go with 87 for a meta/open cryptic prediction. Really wish more game had demos cause the one for FF7R absolutely sold me on it. Can't v wait to dive into my first Final Fantasy game!!

Yes that's what I've been thinking.
If it was a brand new game being written for the first time, maybe it would be different. But the fact that we've all played the original, so we know its not the end of the story, I think will mean that you don't get a sense of closure with the story.
I mean they're not going to want you to feel closure anyway are they? They're gonna want you hyped and eager to play the next one.
@Dezzy that's awesome! We started with the NES back then. I actually didn't play much in those days, being the youngest of 4 I didn't exactly have a lot of say in that lol.
I too am glad it turned out good. Sitting at 87 (nailsed it!) on both MC and OC. Looking forward to playing it in a few days!
I just checked, 87% is actually the highest score for a numbered Final Fantasy game since FF12 in 2006. I thought FF14 was higher than that, but it actually wasn't. It was 86%.
So the best they've done in nearly 15 years. Very happy for the good folks at Square, who've really turned the company around a lot since it's incredibly rough 7th gen.
@Dezzy However, I love (the Royal version of) XV. I'll wait until they release VII Remake on Xbox and also the other parts (VII-2...) because I still have some Final Fantasy games to play, all but the few I have played already.
Yeah me too. XV Royal Edition is my favourite game in the series since FF10. I dunno if this will surpass it. I think the fact that the story isn't finished will probably mean I don't truly appreciate FF7 Remake until it's all out, in 10 years time probably.
