@Grumblevolcano I can't imagine. The box art always tells when that's the case, and Atlus, more than any company, understands the appeal of physical releases.
It's up on best buy and other websites as well. It's weird to see it vanish from probably the biggest online marketplace (on the US site, anyway) so close to release, though.
Yeah you know how on PlayStation you install the entire game on the console even if you have a disc? I now buy a few more multiplatform games on Switch because Nintendo don’t do that.
@TheJGG Nintendo Switch is the last true physical gaming platform left on the market. Everything else is either digital or digital with installer discs.
And even on Switch, that's only true for part of the physical library, considering some games require heavy patching and/or partial downloads to function properly.
Well, I'm one of those that didn't get the previous version, @Slowdive.... I'm sure it'll look pretty good on my Lite, anyway Seen a couple of early reviews giving it 9/10, too
Certainly what they've shown of it looked great, so I was never worried about that, anyway.... I heard it had some issues when it launched in Japan but one advantage of it coming here later is they seem to have fixed those
Japanese games have severe issues sometimes. For example, Bravely Second was extremely flawed in the Japanese release, and was so bad that the director had to literally apologize for it. The game we got in the west was better and fixed a ton of issues, but it was still not as great as the original.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Slowdive I mean it’s generally getting 7s which is a good score (even if it’s not a good gamers score) but it didn’t stop the review on this site for example being filled with hyperbole about cancelling pre-orders etc in the comment section.
I even saw regular posters in this thread saying things like they will only get it in a sale now after seeing the reviews.
Yeah, the PushSquare article was similar, in that regard. Lots of hyperbolic comments throwing around words like "scummy" and "anti-consumer."
Like I said before, groupthink and virtue signaling like that are pretty common in online gamer communities. Pretend to be shocked and offended that the game has paid DLC and/or isn't a massive visual overhaul, even though they've known the details about this remaster for months.
The internet has conditioned people to feed into self-perpetuating cycles of outrage.
@Balta666 You have to use buffs and debuffs. Matador is basically there to slap you to make sure you're paying attention to how the game is played as it's not like other RPGs where you just grind until you can defeat the boss.
@jump my problem is I miss 3/4 of my attacks even when I buff my evasion. I got to the fight at level 15 which I think is way too low. I have been grinding a bit to have some of the demons from this area in my team to see if it helps (also nothing on my team does weakness damage to him)
@Snaplocket noted, but I believe I will still try to beat fair and square at least for a while. I am having fun catching deamons and fusing to create a strong team and grinding my own abilities (don't remember the name of the thingy)
@Balta666 Buffing your evasion/attack rate isn't enough
Nocturne really stresses the importance of also debuffing your enemy's stats such as hit/evasion rates. That's why moves like Debilitate and Sukunda become incredibly useful. Buffing your own stats will only make you as good if not better than your enemy at avoiding getting hit, but you also have to make them worse at it, especially in the cases of bosses like Thor, Mot and Matador
I know Matador's pretty hard for an extremely early game boss but if anything the trial and error that you go through during that fight is only a sign of things to come
@Snaplocket I like to play games on difficulty intended by developers (aka normal mode). I am 100% in favor of difficulty options and I have use them on type of games I am particularly not good at (thinking on you Astral Chain) but turn base JRPG are my jam therefore I cannot say I beat the game "fair and square" if I have to use that option.
@Snaplocket I think "punishing but not difficult" is the perfect way to describe this game difficulty wise
It's definitely not as hard as has been dramatized by a lot of people. Hell I think the PS2 versions of Persona 3 and Digital Devil Saga 1/2 are actually harder, but it will definitely punish you for not thinking or strategizing through battles. Every move you make or attack your throw out will result in some sort of consequence or reaction from your enemy, as is also the case with the dungeon crawling in general
Easy mode is nice, but I feel you aren't really getting the intended experience just by going through the difficulty that lets you enjoy the story mode, since MegaTen's strengths have always been in its story and equally as thoughtful gameplay and mechanics.
