about getting the headset, how many online games actually support it? if not all games let's narrow some down that I intend to get and play online.

And how does it work, do you establish connection beforehand or automatically get hooked up whomever you are facing/playing with.

@firk - damn near every game supports it. Can't honestly come up with a game that doesn't off the top of my head.

and at the online matching thing--yes, there is that kind of wii-style matching. There's also standard invite-friend-from-PSN matching and all sorts of stuff. If you have a mic and it's turned on, you can talk. oh and btw firk--I'm Swerd-Murd on PSN

Ok nice, will be fun to trashtalk random people while going head to head in some games especially blazblue/MvC2.

@Stuffgamer1-I was afraid of that. Looks like I was right. Square Enix basically lied and watered down the PS3 version of the game, just so that that both versions will be equal. Also Microsoft offering Square Enix extra money is coporate greed. Square Enix basically lied and does not care in cutting the game's corners. Wonderful Square Enix, just wonderful. I hope that FFXIII Versus and future PS3 exclusives developed by Square Enix do not go multiplatform. Because Square Enix will water down those games too if that happens.

Would you really set it to Japanese, anyway? I'm working under the assumption that most of us do not speak Japanese here. Even if you do like listening to languages you can't understand and forcing yourself to read subtitles instead of looking at the actual cinematics, it's hardly watering down the game. The game play itself is unaffected by the one change linked to the 360 version.

@Adam-That is not what I'm mad about. Cutting out the Japanese voice tracks is not the problem. When Square Enix cuts out so much content (like locations and possibly some bosses or enemies) that it can be used for ANOTHER game, that is riduculous. I will buy the game anyway, but I'm not please with Square Enix scrapping half of the game.

They never said it was half the game that I noticed. Major cuts are perfectly normal though, and unless they come out and say "We cut this material for the sake of the 360 game, not for any game balancing reasons as previously stated," then passing off your suspicions as fact here is misleading. I could certainly see why you'd suspect that, but it's still just a suspicion until someone posts a link where a Square exec says otherwise. The stuff they've cut seems (mostly) unimportant to begin with. Sounds like the kind of stuff that is normally cut. Like I was saying in chat the other day, games of this kind are like movies. You plan grand, but then you cut cut cut to make sure that it's not too long, not too unbalanced, and everything seems to fit well together. There are myriad reasons why they would have cut material, and it doesn't really help to assume the worst possible scenario.

It should especially be noted that Square plans to expand on the FFXIII "series" over ten whopping years (!!!). Considering this, and considering that they said it was enough content to comprise an entire game, it seems more likely that the material is being shifted over to a future title if they were not simply your ordinarily expected cuts. And considering all FFXIII games announced so far are for Sony devices, I see no reason to assume the 360 had anything to do with the decision. They were already planning to stretch out the series from the beginning.

I have to wonder why if they're going to make an entire series out of a single entry in a series why they don't just name it something else entirely, but that's Square logic for you, and that's another topic.

By the way, anybody hear about Nier? Evidently the PS3 version is gonna be longer and have a different story...but now it's only coming out in Japan, and outside the U.S., the PS3 is getting a port of the 360 version...I did not know that before typing this.@_@'

Truth be told, I only mentioned it because I thought it was neat that the PS3 was getting a totally different version that may actually be better, but after doing some research, I found out that they're not all that different, and the NA/EU Xbox and PS3 versions are exactly the same. Not really woth mentioning. I would've just deleted it, but the damage has already been done.

As for the game, I think it looks decent, and since I really like 3D Brawlers like this, I'm certainly looking forward to it. I mean sure, we already have Bayonetta, Darksiders, Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Dante's Inferno, Ninja Blade, Heavenly Sword, and God of War 3, but I figure one more couldn't hurt.

I'd just like to mention that I double checkerd the sources, and Adam was right, there never was any mention that those area cuts were made in order to balance the game on both systems, and I've added a disclaimer to my previous post regarding them. Sorry for the confusion.

Nier looks fantastic. I could care less about what is ported to what, who cares. If it ends up being a great game its a great game. Everything Ive seen so far looks very promising. If anything, one great thing about Playstation is that its able to play imports with no mods. So if the Japanese version of the game is different I will import it from Hong Kong as it will have English Subtitles and still get trophies support for the game.

Well, it's already been stated that it'll be almost exactly the same, just with a slightly different story and a younger protagonist. And a hermaphrodite...yeah...

That isnt unusual for things to change to fit different contries. Actually its quite common for small changes to fit cultural differences to fit contries.
