You know those blue highlighted, underlined portions of text that you can click on? Well, there called links, and they are a magical entity that sends you to other sites, containing alllll the information you're looking for.

In otherwords dood: I already gave you multiple links that has the info you're looking for. Just click them for frick sake. Or just type them into a search engine - pretty much every browser comes with one installed these days.

@slapshot82 I always thought this thread was informative and very friendly until recently.I'm not going to comment further on this.But as far as im concerned this will always be a good thread. Just like blackdragon stated, we need to ignore the ones who want to ruin our thread or get it locked.

@odd..... Thanxs man, and gotta give Adam the credit, as it all started with him, dang near a year ago I guess. But yeah ignore it and if further discussion needs be, move it on to another thread as Mickeymac did. Not trash this tread or the 360 thread with it for that matter. Done deal!

I originally just wanted to make a thread to share PSN names. Then people started going off topic with all sorts of PS3 discussion, and I didn't want to be rude, so I just went with it. No need to give me any credit, haha.

If anyone is having slow down on their PS3 games or XMB,i will help you out if you want.
I can show you how to kill corrupted files and defrag your PS3 to make it faster

I just did it on my used PS3 and it killed so much corrupted data from the previous owner and now it runs really smooth!

Ok, i got my ps3 now.

I've made 2 PSN users, one for US(for US store) and one for EU(where I live). Is there any risk involved in buying for another region? Seeing as it's cheaper I don't think Sony intend for people to use the other stores than their own..

I mean could they use it against me and ban my US account maybe even erase all the games i've bought because i've gotten it from the US region store? Or is it safe.

@Fikraag.... no worries man, as The Official Playstation Magazine had an article on how to make the accounts, Sony is actually really cool about things. If you do want to purchase anything you will need to buy a PSN Network Card for that region online.

@Sean.... I would like to know how to do that as well. I know a bunch of little tips that the PS3 can do I will post if anyone likes (I bought a mag on it lol). I imagine my PS3 would love a good defrag.

I can not GUARANTEE This will work but it did for me. My PS3 is used and this is good for either a used PS3 or a PS3 that is over 1 years old.
Also if your not sure about something on the menu:Let me know and i will help out. Please do not choose the wrong option as it can delete your hard-drive lol....ouch.

1)Switch the PS3 on from the back. The red light will turn on.
2)Hold down on the "on" button until you hear two beeps,the ps3 will reset itself and red light will come back on.
3)This time hold down on the "on" button until you hear 4 beeps(the last 2 beeps are fast so listen out)
4)The PS3 will turn on and ask you to plug in your USB charger cable to your PS3 and PS3 controller.
5)There will be a number of options to choose from but today we will be looking at option 4 and 5. -Continued.

There are two options called "Restore File System" and "Rebuild Database"

Restore File System:Is basically when your PS3 searches for corrupted data on your PS3(this could be from any download you got on your PS3 from updates to games to themes from the web browser) Basically its like a virus scanner.

Rebuild DataBase:The PS3's personal own Defragger. If you do not know what defrag means,i'll simple it up:It will make your PS3 faster by putting files and codes into their right places on the PS3 thus making it faster and easier.

Doing this will LOSE:Your recvieved and sent messages on your friends list,your playlists on the video,music and photo will be deleted...i repeat PLAYLISTS. Not the actual videos or photos or music.
You won't lose any music,videos,settings,saved data,game data,trophies etc. Stuff you use on the PS3.

@Sean007s: That sounds pretty handy. Why did they hide it so well, though? I can't think of any good reason that stuff isn't actually somewhere in the XMB.

I wouldn't be surprised if my system could do with a "Data Restore." I use the PS3 browser EVERY DAY as my main browser (no computer; sigh), and it's probably accumulated some junk by now. That might even be part of the reason the darned thing's been freezing up on the browser more and more lately for all I know!

Now, I want to be absolutely clear on this: Following your instructions and performing "data restore" will not delete ANYTHING (not even system settings) except for playlists (of which I have none) and message records (which I routinely purge anyway)? I need to be 100% certain this is true before I attempt it, 'cause I've got a LOT of stuff I do NOT want to lose.

Went and got madden 10 now, and disgaea 3 came in the mail today so, basically i'll probably have games to last me for awhile. I've never played a madden before, but if i get into it maybe some of you want to go head to head or maybe even co-op games.

You're really good on Resistance 2. I tried the co-op mode a few days ago as a medic and it was insane! Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are my favorite online shooters. I just couldn't get into Modern Warfare. Maybe 'cause I would keep getting killed within seconds of respawning.

Did any of you guys see this article on pushsquare? Japan is apparently getting a PS3 DVR and they will be getting trophies for things like watching tv shows. Not too sure what to make of it just yet.

@Stuffy.... Just back up all your save data on a flash card, I do anyways just in case something ever happened to my PS3.

Oh, and today they stated that the Timed Release for Modern Warfare 2 for PS3 will follow X360 by only a few weeks. It kinda sounded like a Fallout 3 DLC deal but its in fact no big deal. We will be playing the new maps not too long afterward.

The browser sucks due to the limited ram and the net-scape codec is just plain crap. The browser is ok for watching youtube vids tho...its a 6/10 browser,the PS3 browser freezes on everyone so your PS3 is not broken or anything.

No the system settings will not be deleted. Only playlists,and message records will be deleted.
Yes this is true,i have tried it myself 2 times now to make sure. Just pick the settings i told you to choose.
Restore file system and Rebuild DataBase.

Do not get it confused by other settings please.
Just choose ONLY THEM options,i cannot make it clear enough. The other options can delete your whole HDD.
Read this message and do not get it mixed up.

The reason it is hidden is incase someones PS3 could be bricked,corrupted etc so they put this in as a backup.
This may help you get rid of the disc read error's and other so called PS3 error's(not YLOD as you can't even turn the PS3 on at that stage)
Anyway i hope it helps and like i said,i cannot guerantee it will work for you but for my used PS3....it worked like a charm and killed some corrupted data and now my PS3 is fresh and running very smooth. Enjoy lol just remember to be careful......also this only took me 3 mins to do even tho the message says it will take an hour or more to do lol

Me and my roommate both play it and he is even better than me. You can also add psn = nukacola101 that's my Europe account i play resistance 2 with. If you see both user names online then we are actually playing split screen.

Uncharted 2 might be getting some new multiplayer skins! Not sure if it's true or not:

It's sale time again on the PSN! They do that quite a lot lately, don't they? Well, that's just fine with me, seeing as I don't have the money to download them at full price most of the time! Check out the full list over at the PlayStation Blog. I personally recommend Braid. I played it on Xbox 360 at release, and it was excellent! Maybe you thought $15 was too much, though...how about $7.50? SCORE!
