SEGA is going to focus on tablet (and PC) gaming because it's more profitable. Can somebody explain to me how it's profitable? Most of the owners of tablets buy games like Bejeweled and Fruit Ninja. They're not going to buy SEGA's ones unless they're already fans that own a tablet and want to double-dip since they most likely already own most of them on console or PC.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Monument Valley yet. It's the only game that's worth the purchase on a mobile device if you ask me.

I don't have exact numbers, so what I'm about to say is anecdotal, but from what I've observed, traditional gaming properties do seem to have a following on mobile devices.

Some of the classic Square Enix RPGs (which are premium priced $10 - $20, without IAP's) seem to always be sitting high up in the list of best selling "paid" games in the Google Play store (can't speak for the App Store), and even moreso if you're in the RPG section.

Sonic games (whether they be F2P games designed for mobile, or paid ports of his classic games) also seem to have a perpetual high placing as well (same can be said for Pac-Man).

I mean, they may not be as profitable as whatever flavor of the month casual game is (such as Clash of Clans or Game of War), but they must be doing well enough I suppose.

People still like to play high-qualtiy games, regardless of system.

So I am thinking of picking up a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 here in a few weeks and I am wondering anyone have any experience with one of these?

The only game I play on my phone/tablet is Clash of Clans, way too addicting building your town and raiding other peoples villages for their gold and stuff. :3 Honestly, I prefer playing on something purposely built for games, my Nexus 5 just doesn't cut it, the battery dies way too quickly especially when I need it to last me all day.

I honestly would never touch a Samsung device again in my life, they're slow, buggy, full of bloatware and their UI looks horrific. I'd say put the money towards a Sony Xperia, Asus or Lenovo. They're all really well built (especially the Xperia) and they all run very quickly without the added on bloatware and horrendous slow down.

I have a Galaxy S3 and my wife has a Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab 3. I like them, have been thinking of getting a Tab myself.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I have a Tab 3, and like it a lot.

As for games, from what I've played, it runs FFIV, DQIV, & DQV (all DS ports) just fine. The most graphically intensive game I've played is Godzilla: Strike Zone (which is free, with no IAP's whatsoever), which renders with some bad textures & bad framrate drops (especially in the second level), but it's free & just designed to push the movie, so it could very well just be bad programming on the part of the developers.

As for video, I've had no problems whatsoever with Netflix, YouTube, or NHK World TV (though I don't think Netflix streams in HD, while the others do. This may change, and may vary between models).

As for reading applications, the only thing I've DL'd so far is this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, which seems to load up just fine, and is very responsive.

Also, I use it for the internet a lot (mostly for reading manga), and it seems to work great for that as well.

So I got a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 today and I am loving it, in fact I am using it right now to type this. I also downloaded my first mobile game WWE Immortals which I am enjoying alot. It's made by Netherealm Studios which is the same studio that did Mortal Kombat and Injustice: God's Among Us and is doing Mortal Kombat X.

It's a 3 on 3 group fighting game kinda like Marvel vs Capcom with WWE characters which have supernatural powers, like Kane can make gysers of flames erupt for example. Graphics are great control takes a bit to get use to for a fighting game. You don't move your character (at least that I have found) instead you tap the screen to do a light attack and swipe the screen to do a heavy attack and tap with two fingers to block. After so many successful hits a power move Guage fills and when it's filled you tap on it to do a Super attack. You can unlock characters with real money or coins you earn in matches which you win by knocking out the three fighters on the opposite team. Right now my team is the Demon Kane, Dark Sorceress Paige and Centarioun Roman Reigns. There is a bit of strategy to how you build your teams as each character has allies and rivals, and put rivals or allies together on the same team gives bonuses depending on what they are.

I high recommend this game for any WWE fans or fighting game fans best thing is its free to download and play.

Sorry for the long write up. Anyway just thought I would let others know about this game. It's available on Droid andiOS.

@Tasuki

Yeah, I was looking up photos of WWE Immortals the other day, and thought it was kind of humorous how they gave John Cena a Superman-eque outfit, since my dad has called him that for years (since they usually don't let him lose).

Anyhow, if you're into baseball, I recommend MLB.com Home Run Derby 2014. It's free & has two modes:

  • Home Run Derby - you can play this at least five times a day. The rules are the same as the actual derby, and you can play against the computer, or against others online.
  • Arcade - there is no limit on how many times you can play this, and it sees you hitting as many home runs as possible within a time limit (you get extra bonuses for doing trick shots, like hitting a certain target in the stands).

In both modes, you earn Coins & MLB Bucks that you can spend on better equipment & different characters (or you can spend real world money). Though, in about a week, I earned enough upgrades in game to be able to win the derby pretty much every time I played it (though I haven't gone online yet).

Anyhow, I'm glad you're having fun with your new device

@RR529: I did in fact download that MLB game and I tried it but I was having the hardest time hitting anything so I went back to WWE Immortals. Still might give it another swing (pun intended) tonight. Also thinking of picking up Dragon Quest next payday.

@Tasuki, Yeah, it took me a bit to get used to the swing timing as well, but it comes as second nature when you get it down. Personally, I have better luck when I start with my finger at the bottom of the strike zone, and drag it up to meet the pitch.

Heads up about the Square Enix RPGs (at least on my device). None of them seemed to be able to get past the license authentication screen for the first hour or so after I downloaded them. After that though, they all worked perfectly. I don't know if the authentication process starts as soon as the app is downloaded, or the first time you try to run it, so don't be alarmed if you can't get past that screen the first time you start it up.

@RR529: I will keep that in mind when I get those. In other mobile news I used my Note 4 to remote play The Walking Dead Season One for the PS4. Kinda a cool feature to have when the TV is in use.

They always seem to have one or two titles in the top grossing list at least on Android.

PC is profitable because of Total War / Company of Heroes / Football Manager (Everything else is a bonus like the ports of e.g Sonic / Aliens).

So, it looks like our favorite Nintendo characters are going to be officially gracing our mobile screens soon.

Scared - remembering the Philips/Nintendo deal
Excited - Nintendo has come along way since then plus they tend to learn from their mistakes.

Ok guys I got a problem here.

I want to get the new 3ds and a smartphone. The problem is that I can't get both at the same time. I know the smartphone that I want and its the Samsung Galaxy note 4. Problem is its too damm expensive. But here's the thing, my dad has the samsung galaxy s4 mini. So I want to know if his phone is good enough to run games smooth or do I really need to get note 4?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

My tablet (Galaxy Tab 3) was released the same year (2013) as the Galaxy S4 smartphone, and can run games like Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, Gravity: Don't Let Go, MLB.com Home Run Derby 2014, Popcork!, and more just fine.

You could always just go to YouTube and look up "Galaxy S4 gaming", as well, to get a more precise picture.

Also, I accidentally reported your comment when trying to hit "quote" the first time. Don't know how to undo that.

It may not have been the report button then.

All I know is that I thought I clicked on "quote", but instead of quoting his comment, I got a message at the top of the screen (in a green box) that said something along the lines of "thank you for your inquiry, we'll get to it as soon as possible".
