Well Nintendo's not so good decisions continued with Mario Odyssey, given their focus on the Metro Kingdom at events I expected it to be early on...

@Dezzy I'll definitely finish X either way. Good to hear you like the ending. I'm enjoying how much more grounded the story is than the one in XC.

Uhm. I need to read up on this game. Seems like the game to have next!

So I've watched basically everything that's been released. It's quite clear they've heavily restricted how much people can in terms of being up to a certain point in the game, which is fairly early on.
Given that they've said repeatedly that it's just as long as XC1 (i.e 70ish hour story), I don't think we're at risk of many spoilers.

Game is out in 10 days and this thread is dead almost 3. Where is that hype train?! 😁
Preordered mine yesterday and now considering to buy Xenoblade pro controller. What concerns me is that d pad issues people have even with Splatoon pro controllers. That means Nintendo don’t care for people complaining and didn’t do anything to fix it. Let’s just hope Xenoblade 2 combat isn’t heavy depending on d pad.

@DiscoGentleman You don't really use the D-Pad much in that game, just the occasional This Way/Ouch or Booyah.

That said, Xenoblade's combat, despite being real-time and demanding awareness of the situation and positioning, isn't exactly fast-paced to the point where an occasional fumble of d-pad input will immediately cause you to fail. Pre-planned strategies work much better than instinct, especially since in this game you can't auto-attack while moving and arts become stronger after a sequence of the former. And you could always just use joy-cons if the d-pad is a real issue for you.

Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

@DiscoGentleman like too sensitive when pressing left or right directions. It’s easily to accidentally press up or down while pressing left. Same goes for right. Something like that. Maybe it’s not a big deal in Splatoon but for some games like Puyo Puyo Tetris it’s game breaking. Considering pro controller high price that’s unacceptable imo

@Dezzy I'll confess Famitsu is probably the game reviewing publication I trust the least as they are occasionally way too leniant. They always seem to give reviews ranging from Good to Amazing but never below. I know some reviewers blow their negative experiences out of proportion but sometimes certain games are poor or packing.

Not saying this one is though; I have very high hopes and if their last 2 titles are anything to go by I will enjoy XC2.

@FX102A

They also have a pretty strong JRPG bias though. Giving FF13 39/40 and FF15 38/40.

Both those scores are clearly silly. Besides FF15 isn't even out yet.

@Dezzy Uhhhhh... FF XV has been out for almost a year. (Also, I think it's about the same quality as XC 1)

I was being facetious. Pointing out that without all of the DLC they're adding, it doesn't really feel like a complete story.
The Ignis DLC contains pretty key story points. Even the Comrades multiplayer thing contains some key story points. Like how did Noctis get in that cave and where did the boat come from.

What Famitsu puts as a con depends a lot on the player, though. Xenoblade’s battle system has always been complex, but for many is one of the joys of the series, the level of customization available is just astounding.

And long battles? Those are the best!

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

@Dezzy Seriously? I knew the game had development troubles, but come on. The fact you had to watch a movie and anime AND purchase DLC to get the full story is just utter b**********t.

Yeah the movie was good though. No way would they have ever fit all of that into the game as well as the DLCs.
I think the most you could've expected is that the 3 character DLC were part of the original game.

@Snaplocket
I'd rather they'd ditched things like the hidden dungeons and the incredibly detailed food feature. Cut both of them and finish the story or the rest of the open world

@Knighty_IX Eh, even considering how Disc 2 turned out, it's still a complete story.

Eurogamer's preview of the game. Mostly positive, but one portion worries me immensely:

"Played in handheld mode, where the resolution frequently drops until the world is but a smear, and it's all a bit reminiscent of when Monster Games tried to squeeze the original Xenoblade Chronicles onto the 3DS."

This game looks great, but if portable mode is THAT bad, then I'm not getting it. And that would really disappoint me.

@Snaplocket BotW is much more recent and looks and runs great on the tablet.

A game designed for the Switch has no excuse for looking bad on the handheld, as it should be optimized to run well in either mode. It's not like this is a port from the PS4 or something.

@Snaplocket There's a lot going on in terms of the environmental design and physics in BotW. And the slowdowns, even at launch, were limited to a couple of problem areas. The game actually ran smoother in handheld modes during these sections!

A game looking bad in handheld mode is inexcusable, considering the hybrid nature of the device. Hopefully these complaints about handheld mode are largely hyperbolic.

@Ralizah

A game like this really needs to be played on a big screen anyway. You can't appreciate the massive landscapes on a small screen, so that wouldn't bother me.
I'd only play it in handheld mode to do a bit of grinding when I had the time. Not to experience the main game and story.
