@DiscoGentleman Fair enough, I know a ton of people hated Camilla and how they made her, but that's also part of the FE fanbase, I guess. I'll be happy to have Pyra speaking Japanese, as I really don't like her English.
@DiscoGentleman While the "protect the mystical waif" is very much present, for someone who's been sitting in a chamber for who knows how long, Pyra's common sense around people is surprisingly not lacking. The pitch of her voice sells it, too; not so high that she sounds childish and naive, but also not so deep as to be a no-nonsense entity that only cares about reaching Elysium until getting several friendship lessons pounded in her head.
Very cool commercial.
They'll probably do some heavy promotion in Japan. This game could easily be the best selling in the series simply on the grounds that Japan can play it in handheld.
@Dezzy i think people are really underestimating this game. For the first real JRPG on the switch, this game is going to be huge on sales... everybody is really underestimating how good this game is going to be too.
JRPGs are still pretty niche for the most part.
There's really nothing except Final Fantasy and Pokemon that sells over 5 million units, to go with an arbitrary metric for being mainstream.
(not suggesting that you need 5 million to be successful, but to really make an impact on the industry at large you do)
The original Xenoblade Chronicles was regarded by many who played it as a real genre-defining game. And yet 7 times as many people played FF13, a genre destroying game.
So as someone who for whatever reason hasn’t played the series, I have pre ordered it. So I kinda want to play one of the other games from the series, which would you suggest, Xenoblade 3D on 3DS or X on Wii U?
@Snaplocket no.. its the biggest pile of stank a$$ **** you will ever play in your life.
edit... ok if you pretend its not a final fantasy and ignore all the gameplay and only try to enjoy the graphics and story.. its bearable.... but thats it.
@Hughesy
XC1 is the more simple one. It's linear progression with huge worlds to explore that straddles the line between linear and open world, and XC2 is modeled after this. The combat is really good, blurring the lines between simple and complex very well once you actually start playing.
XCX is an open world game that is as hardcore as you can get with a lot of customization and combat potential, but the game drops a lot of QoL (quality of life) stuff like viewing what a status effect does instantly from the menu.
In terms of story:
XC1 has the better main story. Sidequests are pretty garbage though.
XCX has an unfinished main story (not "bad" as people would tell you, but you can clearly tell it was unfinished, especially clear when you realize they had to rewrite the plot just because of the customizable avatar and they opted to not focus on story, but the world) but the sidequests are actually pretty good. You still got XC1-tiered sidequests, but thankfully they're very easy to scope out and find and don't require much in going out of the way.
Now both play out very differently as they set out to focus on different things. Since you've preordered XC2 already, XC1 is the closest you can get to prepare for that game. XCX is way different in its approach that can turn off people that did like/love XC1.
And I don't know how you managed to get XCX for cheaper than $20 - when I bought XCX off Amazon (which was back in October) it costed $40, whereas XC1 on the Wii U eShop is only $20. Either way, both are absolutely amazing games. You won't regret spending 100+ hours on each game.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@EvilLucario Xenoblade Chronicles X has a much more grounded and interesting premise than XB1, imo. A desperate struggle for survival against hostile alien forces is much more interesting to me than Attack on Titan with cockney robots. I think the problem people have with XCX is how undeveloped the main story is in comparison to the original, and how it proceeds in fits and starts. This is due to the singular focus on creating a fleshed out open world, and is the same issue some Zelda fans have with BotW.
XCX is definitely my favorite of the first two games. I really wasn't feeling it with XB1.
I'm conflicted with this game. I'm interested in it, but at the same time, it sort of looks janky. Some parts such as the environments look nice, but then things like the characters and enemies look stiff and lacking. Hmmmst.
If i purchase a download code of xenoblade 2 from amazon japan, i will be able to redeem the code in the japanese e shop right??
the only language on the european cartridge seems to be english so..^^
@Snaplocket C+ for a main FF game is totally unacceptable... you can equip 2 items. 1. weapons that are never worth upgrading and 2. accessories of which all basically suck and you never find anything rare.
The level design could have been done by a 4 year old and the combat is... ok now im just mad at you for making me remember how ***** bad the combat is just to explain to you why its so bad.
