@GrailUK It won't be. Whether they like it or not, E3 is what will make or break the Switch. The launch may be bad but as Xbox One has shown, things can be turned around. Nintendo just need to drop loads of games coming out between Summer and end of 2018 and they have a better chance of a good holiday season.

@Octane I was pretty hurt by that segment as well. I am hoping that they were pointing to the fact that the gamecube was second in the graphics race so they are implying that the Switch is a powerful (to scale against handhelds and capable of playing games that are normally featured on consoles...which it is), portable device.
Otherwise that is just cold.

@FragRed isnt that a problem? Unlike Microsoft, Nintendo has less of a leeway to make mistakes. Microsoft has way more money and they are always assured of 3rd party titles regardless of their 1st party output. On the other hand, i think that if Switch fails to sell and compete with other platforms for marketshare by its 1st year then most likely most 3rd party supporters will abandon it.
Nintendo dropped the ball for the reveal and unlike Microsoft they dont have the luxury of mainstream games to pull them out of their mistake.
People online are stupid and love extremes. In no reality is this gonna be an NES or Wii but it's also super unlikely to be a Wii U or even Gamecube. It's gonna succeed in a boring "on par/better with Xbox One" way, is what I've gotten out of this. It has too many issues (and nothing to instantly grab a huge casual audience) but it also has too many strengths (especially its impossibly big first party first year titles). I'd be shocked at anything else.

I think this is pretty much spot on. People get overly...let's say..."passionate" about Nintendo and like to speak of things as absolutes. Sure, Nintendo didn't blow us away on Friday, and some were left disappointed, but I'm actually seeing people say that the Switch is doomed / DOA. Completely ignoring that there's actually quite a vocal group of people that are excited about this console.
I've seen too many random people say they've pre-ordered for it to be another Wii U. No idea if it'll be another Wii or even PS4. But I think people saying it is doomed are either blind or delusional. That much is very clear even at this early stage

@BiasedSonyFan Let's not kid ourselves here. The lineup could have been a lot better. However, I wouldn't say it's bad or dismal like a lot of people are saying. Breath of the Wild is gonna sell like hotcakes. It even has non-Nintendo fans hyped. I just hope it lives up to all the excitement so that it truly can carry the Switch into the following months in a big way.
@BiasedSonyFan Although I'd say the launch lineup is a little disappointing, I'll agree that people seem to set different standards for Nintendo, and if they don't meet these standards they're doomed for failure.
One thing I find ironic, for example, is that although Nintendo seem to be getting up-to-date with Switch's online functionality (voice chat, sharing, etc.), I've seen people commenting that it's " years too late" or "outdated". So even by giving people what they've asked for, they've opened themselves up for criticism.
@Buizel I think people are saying that about the voice chat because it's on your phone and not on the system itself. The rest of the online service is too early to judge, seeing as we know nothing about it except that we need to pay for it.
@KirbyTheVampire Ah, perhaps a misunderstanding on my part then, but no-one has explicitly said that in their complaints. Generally I'm seeing these criticisms more at face value.
@Buizel That's just what I've been seeing, anyway. There's enough idiots out there that it's totally feasible that people would complain that Nintendo added a voice chat function, no matter how good it was.
We're always going to have these "product not even out yet will suck" claims. All I know is I'm excited for it and the launch window games are already 10x stronger than the wii us or even 3DS's IMO.
What I don't look forward to is losing the controllers... I search under my bed for my wii remotes enough already, now I have two joycons + a screen Dx I haven't been around for much talk, has nintendo confirmed any solutions to this yet or nah?
@Araquanid Not really any solution except keeping track of your JoyCons, lol. I can't imagine they'd be lost too easily for one reason, though. The fact that they charge on the tablet when it's docked. Most people would just pop them on the dock after they're finished gaming so that they're fully charged for the next session, so I can't imagine they'll be nearly as easy to lose as Wiimotes, which can just be thrown anywhere.
@Buizel I think people are saying that about the voice chat because it's on your phone and not on the system itself. The rest of the online service is too early to judge, seeing as we know nothing about it except that we need to pay for it.
I think even that portion of the system hasn't really been described. There's a short little description about some of the things that what will come with the paid service. People are reading into it and assuming that stuff not mentioned won't be coming. Just because they're highlighting a mobile app that allows you to add friends, create groups and use voice chat doesn't mean you can only do it on your phone. Just like them highlighting parental controls via an app doesn't mean that there's no parental controls on the system itself. Or how them not talking about the VC doesn't automatically mean that the VC is dead.
It's also worth noting that Nintendo hasn't explicitly said that they won't have these things included. Compare that to MiiVerse and StreetPass which have been confirmed to be gone.
There absolutely is a double standard. I'm not gonna candy coat it: the PS4's launch lineup was dirt poor.
Knack was both critically panned and almost universally rejected by gamers. As with any game, you'll find a small enclave of people who stubbornly say they enjoy it, but the controls were clunky, the story uninspired, and it ultimately failed to deliver.
Killzone was Killzone, and it was short. If you enjoy Killzone games, you enjoyed it, and then it was over 2 hours later.
Its best game was Resogun, and it was only available to PS Plus members. Could you imagine the backlash if Nintendo made BotW a launch title, yes... but only if you paid another 50 bucks a year to Nintendo right out the gate? Just roll that around in your mind for a bit. Just picture how the gaming websites and forums would react to news like that, given how they've already reacted to stuff like the accessory prices and the totally incomplete information we have on the Switch's online system.
