@Buizel Mario Sunshine should be a launch game for VC, especially now we know Mario Odyssey won't be out until holiday 2017. But I hope Nintendo are able to get out a steady stream of games this time instead of the random 1 or 2 per week if you are lucky as has been the case with the Wii U.

@Operative2-0 Yeah I'm also a little doubtful after that news. Guess we'll have to see.

@FragRed Hopefully. I'd be happy to see at least some games that weren't available on the New 3DS, e.g. GBA and N64 games, just for the novelty of having these games on the go. Although with N64 the most notable titles have had a handheld port already.

I'm really hoping for Nintendo to have a Nintendo direct in February that will detail more about the Switch's launch games, VC, features and online

@TomJ I actually forgot about the MLP movie. Thanks for reminding me.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

@Buizel
I agree, but I fear the reason they haven't said much yet is because the VC is going to be a slow lackluster trickle of repurchasing, so they want folks to make their preorder decision before they know that.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@Token_Girl Could be.

It's a shame because Nintendo's back catalogue is arguably their strongest asset, to the point I'd argue that they could probably sell a handheld based on virtual console alone.

If Nintendo even has a half decent Virtual Console lined up for the Switch AT LAUNCH, I will go see the My Little Pony movie. Hold me at my word.

pfft, MLP isn't that bad. Try to see an entire season of Winx instead without clawing your eyes out.

@Buizel You're totally right; just look at the success of the NES classic! (Btw, $60 for 30 games was kind of a slap in the face for those of us who bought games off of vc).

Anyone else think there is a high likelihood of seeing Hyrule Warriors on the Switch? I actually enjoy that game a bit and am curious to see it under the Switch's rendering capabilities.

Edit: Speaking of ports, I would also appreciate any speculation concerning Platinum Games.

Eurogamer's demographic is exactly the market of gamers that wouldn't be interested in the Switch anyway. It's not surprising that the website is so negative about the Switch.

I mean, Eurogamer routinely posts articles about the graphics wars, and they love the PS4 Pro. How did you think they would feel about the "underpowered" Switch?

The PS4/Xbox One crowd really irritates me for that reason. Why does a system have to be a powerhouse to be "acceptable"? No one's forcing them to buy a Switch. Each system has it's pros and cons, so I don't know why people can't just accept that the Switch can and will co-exist with the Xbone and PS4. However, I can't put the blame only on them. Nintendo fans can be just as toxic in their opinions of other platforms.

@JTMnM Not a lot, Kamiya's game just got cancelled. They have another team that works on NieR: Automata that will be coming soon to the PS4. Besides that they're also working on Granblue Fantasy for the PS4 (2018) and a mobile game that is slated for 2018. I believe that they have three main teams over at PG, so I don't think there's something in works for the Switch, maybe now that Scalebound is cancelled, or when NieR is done, time will tell.

I don't know if anyone has thought of this but I can see it being backwards compatible with ds or 3ds. The answer is simple....splitscreen!

@Octane Thank you for the information. The Switch being successful will definitely influence their support. I don't plan on selling my Wii U, so I won't be too upset if I don't see the Bayonetta series on the Switch. Others who skipped the Wii U (and those who wanted a sequel) may feel differently, though. Putting opinions on ports aside, they still add to a console's game catalog. Time will tell, indeed.

@JTMnM I think it depends whether Nintendo approaches them or not. I can imagine that PG is pretty busy and they're often outsourced by other companies, Square Enix approached them for NieR, and they worked with Microsoft on Scalebound, just like how they worked with Nintendo on Bayonetta 2.

You know, here's a thought I just had, and I don't think it will be popular with most of us: Nintendo should've held Paper Mario Color Splash AND Star Fox to be Switch launch titles.

As soon as they knew they were done with the Wii U, development should have pivoted to the Switch for both of those titles. Star Fox could've had its oft-hated control scheme scrapped for something more traditional AND been a launch title. People would've went nuts. And a Mario adventure pseudo-rpg title like Color Splash would've been a great secondary.

Both of those put together with Zelda? Nobody would have complained about the Switch launch lineup.

Grumblevolcano

@rallydefault I disagree, in fact the complaining would've been significantly more. Even the reactions to 1, 2 Switch are more positive than the initial reactions to Color Splash. Yes, Color Splash is a fantastic game but many still refused to even give it a go because of the initial "Sticker Star 2" impressions.

As for Star Fox, even after the controls debate you had the common complaints of no competitive multiplayer (e.g. dogfight mode), another SF64 reboot, etc.

What I think should've happened is MK8 Deluxe being a launch title alongside Zelda.

In terms of games - this'll sound ridiculous, I know - but I think they're trying to launch games of a series from Wii U in roughly the same period as they did on Wii U.
Mario Kart - April. Splatoon - Summer. Mario - Holiday.
I suppose if it worked on Wii U, it should work here. No idea what the sales were, but I remember articles about success for them.

I'm going to write off a new F-Zero this gen. No analogue triggers, it's represented in Mario Kart and Fast Remix and Redout seem to have the fururistic racer genre covered. Seriously, I am so gutted about the digital shoulder buttons. I cannot believe out of everything the Gamecube did right...they went with the handle!

I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
