An Nvidia leaker has basically just shared the internal SoC model number for the next Switch, and it’s consistent with the Orin line. Obviously treat as rumor, grain of salt, yada yada, you know the drill. But dang. If this turns out to be the case, it’s going to be a massive leap. Even if they restrict clock speeds it would still likely be in the ballpark of a portable PS4… at least, when docked.
This isn’t the first time a leak has pointed to Orin, but I’ve been hesitant to accept it because it’s just, almost too good to be true. Nintendo hasn’t really focused on power for so long I don’t want to get my hopes up. But the Iwata era is over, and the switch is a clear break from the fisher price approach of years past. Maybe now that they finally found a foothold that can give them a permanent niche in the market, they are realizing it’s time to double down and start focusing on improving the technology. There’s a lot of games that struggle to run well on switch and I’m sure Nintendo sees that. I’m sure third parties have expressed their desire for hardware that can at least allow their games to run with satisfactory performance. So I suppose it’s not that far out in left field.
Of course, it’s possible this is not for the revision, but the successor that comes a few years later. But even if that’s the case, I’m extremely excited for the next generation Switch.
If Bayo 3 isn't due out by next year, then I don't know what to say. It's been long enough.
Ditto with BotW2.
Prime 4 gets a pass, since it restarted development and lost a couple of years of progress, resultantly.
Pretty much this. I'd put more pressure on Bayonetta 3 though because that was announced three and a half years ago. Breath of the Wild's sequel's been in development as late as December 2018. And Metroid Prime 4... the rumours are becoming boring. I'll take it when it comes. And it bloody better be finished.
Huh, they really shouldn't have revealed Bayonetta 3 so long ago, @TheJGG .... That really needs to be in Nintendo's Direct & get a release date or at least a window! Then, Platinum is working on Babylon's Fall with Square Enix & that game is well overdue getting a release date, too
@BruceCM I think there's a very good chance of Babylon's Fall getting a release date announced today as it's one of the main focuses of the presentation.
Yeah, we'll certainly hear more about it, at least, @Grumblevolcano .... Whether they're ready to give a definite date or it's a rather vague sometime next year is another matter but I'll be watching the SE stream to see
@JaxonH i unsure if Bayonetta 3 is releasing next year, the game maybe be cancelled or be one of Switch sucessor launch games, Metroid Prime 4 is still too soon to show something about the game, summer/late 2022, maybe Nintendo will show something about the game, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 might release on march 2022 for Switch 5th anniversary.
@link3710 I just mean it should be out by sometime next yeat.
@kkslider5552000 Well, BotW2 is re-using at least some aspects of BotW's map, will probably be re-using a lot of the same assets, probably the same physics engine, etc. If we assume BotW 2 was in development since before their announcement of it in late 2018 (safe bet, I think, considering there was actual footage to show), and assuming it releases in Holiday 2022, it'll have been in development for more than four years. BotW took five years to make, whereas this is a sequel that will likely be utilizing a lot of the same models, environments, physics, etc. as BotW.
Even factoring in covid, it should be ready for action by holiday 2022.
@TheJGG I'd love to see a Final Fantasy collection of some sort. Or an HD-2D remake of one of the older games, but I don't think that's likely with DQIII and Triangle Strategy both filling that niche.
@Ralizah I'd expect FF HD-2D is something they have in mind if DQ III does well. So not soon, but probably going to happen eventually.
I'm starting to reconsider my stance on Rabbids in Smash. With a second Mario+Rabbids game confirmed and the last two characters being rather serious, now would be the perfect time for that. I'd still prefer Rayman or The Prince or Sam Fisher, but I could be happy to get Rabbids. I'd want to see a Bowser Jr. Style 8 in one though, which should be easy enough at this point.
It’s crazy how my opinion on the Rabbids did a complete 180 after Kingdom Battle. I used to despise them. They were annoying, not funny, and I can’t think of a single redeeming quality I saw in them at the time.
But Mario Rabbids changed that. Completely. They were really toned down in that game and made a lot more relatable, humorous and likeable. I’m not sure if I would enjoy them in a game of their own, but they feel like they mesh perfectly with Mario and Co. it doesn’t even feel strange anymore. Not only that, but it feels right. .
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@JaxonH 0 definitely. I think the pairing works well. It helps that they cut down on the Rabbids running around and going "bwah".
I hope they increase the RPG trappings in the sequel. Nothing big, but maybe more NPCs and towns. Basically things to increase the amount of dialogue and something to give the player a break from standard gameplay. Privately, the first game kind of reminds me of Super Mario RPG and I hope it moves more in that direction (even if the idea is unrealistic).

Give me a heads-up if you're going to send a request please.
I'd be a bit disappointed if the Rabbids got into Smash instead of Rayman since he's a more iconic character and Rabbids is a spin-off from his series, but I wouldn't be entirely opposed to it. I love weird characters in Smash and the Rabbids definitely fit that bill.
That reminds me, did anyone ever work out why Rayman appears to be in the background of Ultimate's Battlefield stage? It might have just been a coincidence and it's not meant to look like him, but it really does. Context in case anyone missed it: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/05/random_frozen_rayma...
