Yea, a bit deeper on the RPG stuff would be awesome. Nothing crazy, nowhere near FE (and that's still considered fairly light by a lot of strat RPG peeps), but like you said: some more towns, more dialogue... I think maybe just a tad more choice and stat building would be great.
@Losermagnet
It does. It's not a traditional RPG- it's SRPG, but it feels very similar. It's an RPG starting Mario made by a major 3rd party, and it's really good.
I'd be OK with leaning a little more heavily into the RPG side. Not sure that's what they'll do, but ya.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who likes Rabbids games other than Kingdom Battle.

@FragRed Look at the wording more carefully, it's players not sales. It's like when companies talk about units shipped or Game Pass subscribers rather than Xbox sales.
@BruceCM they can get it from the user agreement people click through without reading at the start of a game. If they had meant sales they would have said sales rather than using word play, like when you avoid saying sorry to someone by saying Iām sorry you feel that way.
Not that Iām taking it away from the game, itās been very successful and it deserves it success.
Well, the 2 million was quite awhile ago, so with all the deep discounts since, I'm sure it has sold a lot more than that by now .... We'll have to see if they publish some official figures soon that include this game
That's an absolute truckload of people to play Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle given the last official sales numbers, and I wouldn't be surprised if the actual sales were 4-5 million by this point. The Switch player base was in single digits when it released, but it's close to 90 million at the present.
Even right now, on Amazon, it's #6 in Video Games category, presumably from the boost in interest after Sparks of Hope was announced. Probably gonna do even more now that it's getting a sequel.
I feel so lucky the game did as well as it did and we're getting a new entry. I was kinda puzzled that the game has less sales than Fire Emblem going by the 2m figure from a few years ago, especially since it's just as good. But then I remember it's been several years since, and so many more people have a Switch now. Clearly that 2m is out of date.
Maybe this series will become a mainstay. I think it deserves it, and I don't think anyone would be opposed to Nintendo adding a solid X-COM style Mario strategy title to their permanent portfolio. I love FE to death, but Mario Rabbids provides a completely different take on the genre.
On the bright side, with the rest of E3 being so lame it'll only serve to make Nintendo's Direct more impressive by comparison š„ half full
They always announce at least a couple bangers. Worst case scenario, we get like 3 solid titles. Probably Zelda Collection, 2D Metroid and one game that's completely out of left field. Tack on Mario Rabbids, and it's something to be excited for.

I think I am getting old. I am usually finding gems all over E3 but I have not seen a single game I want day one. The game I am most happy about (starfield), I am only happy because it means that finally we can start looking towards TES. Will buy a new GPU for that game. Even mario rabbids is a wait for it because ubisoft games always tank in price quickly.
But nothing looked remotely great...and switch support still sucks with western devs. The FF retro games made no sense to me at all. I have nothing against mobile but this was a āput it on everything that can run itā situation.
Really need Nintendo to save the day.
Edit: that being said many indies look good. Just not day one good.

I enjoyed the Rabbids games. They milked it a bit but they were fun little romps. I have no attachment to rayman though so I felt none of the outrage over their creation. Only rayman games I stuck with were the newer ones.

@Ryu_Niiyama I felt the same, at least until I watched the PC Gaming show. I'd recommend giving that a look if you haven't yet. Nothing AAA in scope, but some stuff that actually feels fresh and exciting mixed in there.
Even knowing Mario + Rabbids 2's price will drop like a rock after release, I'll still get it at full price. It looks awesome.
Eiyuden Chronicle looks pretty good as well. Love the visual style.
Trek to Yomi caught my eye. Looks VERY nice for a 2.5D game, and, like with Ghost of Tsushima, I love the vintage Japanese setting.
Those are the only games so far that appeal to me on any level, but there's nothing new there. Microsoft's show usually does nothing for me. Nintendo Directs always have at least a few bangers, even when I'm disappointed by what's not there.
@Ryu_Niiyama The funny thing is that a bunch of the old FF games are already on PC and mobile. Whereas they have no presence whatsoever on PS4/Switch.
Legitimately the most baffling ball drop I've seen from them to date.
