Forum posting while I watch DQ stream. Just like @Slowdive that it doesn't have my full attention is not encouraging!

New HD-2D remake for Dragon Quest III, as a “simultaneous worldwide release on home consoles”. Pretty sure that will include Switch.

Yeah that aged poorly. I love the style so this is amazing.

@JaxonH looks amazing. Hoping it gets a switch release.

Dragon Quest III in the Octopath engine is honestly way more exciting than that vague DQXII announcement.

Not sure what to think of DQXII. Only a logo, but they describe it as, “DQ for adults, dark themes, and you control how you play, oh and we’re changing the command combat system”.

As soon as I heard that I just face palmed. Sounds like they’re trying to Final Fantasy the Dragon Quest series. Maybe it’ll turn out great- I don’t want to jump to conclusions. But the way they’re describing it sounds like we’re about to witness another quirky, beloved classic be changed into a gritty action game in the interest of appealing to the masses.

Given the success of Octopath Traveler and the interest in Project Triangle Strategy, and the fact it can easily run (especially on the new hardware coming), I would be shocked... no. I would be amazed if it didn’t come to Switch. They’d have to be smoking rock from a tin foil pipe.

I'm surprised but I shouldn't be now that I think about. DQ3 is absolutely legendary in Japan, way more than the SNES FF games are anywhere, so of course they'd do that over Final Fantasy remakes!

Having never played any DQ games before and having just purchased the first on the Switch, is it worth buying 3 now or waiting for the newer version?

@BenGrimm Wait for the new one I strongly suggest. It looks better, probably has a massive number of QoL improvements, and may even have voice acting. It'll likely cost more but it'll be so much better.

@DarthNocturnal FFXVI is looking to be the first M rated FF game (there's no way the initial trailer would be T rated) so might be a more general shift for Square JRPGs.

Thanks guys, think there all on sale anyway so may just grab them all anyway.

@Slowdive Some rumours from Nate on Twitter suggest perhaps even today which would be rather funny as it would probably overshadow both Sonic and Sony’s State of Play.

I’m still in the “don’t believe it’s real until Nintendo says so” camp on this though. Just like the new Donkey Kong and 2D Metroid games.

I don't even believe it when Nintendo does says so. Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime 4 etc ;p

Lot's of hype today for the reveal later, I can't believe Sonic is that popular still. ;p

@Slowdive why release another Switch, when it selling with no sight of slowing down? please don't make Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 exclusive for this Switch model.

@BenGrimm the version on switch is pretty good and as I have played it last year I will skip the new one. But definitely the new one will be much better though.
