I agree @timleon, maybe Atlus'll do a Definitive Edition port, with QoL stuff, female protagonist, "The Answer" epilogue content all in one. Persona 4 Golden's more slam dunk because of how it was already ported to PC. And @Slowdive it would be foolish for Atlus to ignore Nintendo's huge Japanese install base, let's see if they make the right choice!
@Slowdive@jump Oh how I'd love to see Vanillaware games on Switch. They really take the Atlus concept of console exclusivity to the extreme, very rarely venturing outside of Playstation.
It's frankly bizarre that Switch doesn't have 13 Sentinels. I was honestly ready to add that to my wishlist when it first came out...until I realised it was PS4 only.
I'd like to see Odin Sphere on Switch even moreso. Sure, it has Vita-PS4 crossbuy...but the Switch's larger size has ruined me for the Vita tbh (at least when it comes to "console-quality" games; I'm totally fine with a smaller screen for games that are more typically "handheld").
@timleon I eventually just bought 13 Sentinels when it was on sale, because it's going to probably become hard to find before too awful long. I was hoping for a Switch port, but eh. VanillaWare are Sony loyalists to the bone.
I own a PS4 for the occasional game I'm interested in that just won't release on other systems, for whatever reason. 13 Sentinels is exactly the sort of game I still own a PS4 to play.
Sakura Wars' continued exclusivity surprises me a bit, though.

Started playing Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Remastered on Switch about an hour ago.
It’s very different from SMTIV. I mean, in many ways it’s not, but it has a very different feel. It’s certainly dated (can’t wait for SMTV to push the series forward and modernize), but it’s still intriguing and entertaining nonetheless.
After seeing Rune Factory 5 footage, which didn’t look too impressive (how does it still look like a 3DS game and yet averages 25 FPS? What gives?) and sucked the wind right out of my hype sailboat, I was feeling a little down. Because that was a game very high up on my list. And I’m sure it’ll still be a great game, and hopefully they’ll patch it up a bit before the localization, but it’s like, ugh. Come on with that.
But SMT3, which wasn’t high up on my list, has suddenly enticed me, and it feels like it’s almost replaced the lost gusto from Rune Factory 5. That, combined with No No Kuni 2, Ys 9, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Neo TWEWY and Zelda Skyward Sword, and a potential Cruise ‘n Blast Switch port, has lifted my spirits.
I need that Cruise ‘n Blast. I NEED it. I’ve been wanting that game on Switch for years. Never thought it would actually happen though because they tend to keep their arcade games in the arcade.

@JaxonH Nocturne is a bit short on plot compared to IV and IV: Apocalypse, but the atmosphere, challenge, and worldbuilding are fantastic nonetheless. This was also, I believe, one of Atlus' first full 3D games. First game to introduce the press turn combat system, variations of which are in basically all their RPGs now. SMT was really nothing to write home about outside of the unique themes until Nocturne. It's a classic in every sense.
As for RF5, I'm not too worried about it. Nocturne HD was a mess at launch in Japan as well. These companies are increasingly treating the Japanese releases as soft launches while they iron out the bugs and performance issues for the more profitable worldwide release.
Ys IX, though... I'm a bit weary of that release. I really hope NIS has learned a lot from its work on previous Falcom games because, as I recall, it had performance issues even on the PS4 when it first launched in Japan.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
And Trails IV was a better port than Trails III imo. Seems like they’re getting better at Switch development with each entry. The fact they also did the first Ni No Kuni hopefully means we have nothing to worry about. Ni No Kuni, Trails of Cold Steel III and Trails of Cold Steel IV were all solid releases on Switch.

Ninja Gaiden master collection has a pre-order discount. Remind me again, there will NOT be a physical release correct? I also noticed the collection is only 3.8gb. Wonder if that's even accurate. Seems pretty small of a DL for those 3 games.
Lack of physical often has nothing to do with file size. Just has to do with cost-benefit analysis of how much they think a physical version will sell. Plenty of games don’t get physical versions in the west despite a low file size. Ace Attorney Trilogy comes to mind. Famicom Detective Club. The list goes on. So assuming the file size truly is what it says, that’s still not enough to say “there’s no reason”. File size isn’t the only factor that plays into the decision to release physically. Multiple variables are at play. Including the higher % cut that goes to the manufacturer, the retail cut, costs of manufacturing and shipping, projected sales and projected digital sales lost due to physical release, etc.
That being said, plenty of games have one download size but the installation size doubles. Add to that day one updates, and it’s possible a 4GB game is 10-15 GB after everything is said and done. Not saying that’s the case, but until we know more, we have to entertain the possibility.

Wait you can buy the ninja gaiden trilogy for the same price as miitopia????!!!!! How is that even possible? I thought it must cost a lot of money to port games based on Nintendo’s pricing strategy.
I was worried the Switch port would be an atrocity but no, it looks fantastic. Just preordered the physical version. My brother said he loved that game.

@Northwind Yeah, I feel like Kanto second stage mons are really strong in design. The starters, Haunter, Machoke Kadabra, Dragonair, and even some that get evos later like Seadra and Rhydon are all wonderful. I suspect it's because the design of Pokemon for Gen 1 wasnt focused on designing pokemon as a family, instead adding and removing evolutions freely throughout development.
