Nintendo will start March 31st off with a tweet that's just a video of the Nintendo headquarters PS1 Crash commercial.

@FragRed Never seen any Asterix related media but I enjoyed the scott pilgrim game so maybe!

@FragRed Aye, count me in. I happened to hit up Microids on Twitter this avo to ask when the Asterix XXL Collection was releasing, then I went back later to see if they'd replied (they haven't 😭) and saw their tweet about this 2D game. Coincidence.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

Surely an Asterix beat 'em up is the easiest game in the world? Unless you are playing the Romans..?

Totally OT, but @Slowdive - saw Kemistry & Storm at Bradford Uni back in the day. Utterly fantastic.

@gcunit According to Amazon U.K., the Switch collection of Asterix XXL was 27th May. Does that help?

@FragRed I had seen that, but I hadn't seen anything official from Microids. It was due to release in 2020 originally, so I was hoping for some reassurance from the publisher.

@gcunit Odd. It’s just a collection so I’m not sure what the hold up would be.

Nintendo updated the NSO trailer from the September 2018 Direct and this new upload still has more dislikes than likes

@Grumblevolcano No wonder, that was dreadful. And they’re promoting Mario 35 which is being removed in a week? This is going to be incredibly dated in such a short amount of time.

It's almost as if they're building to some sort of announcement...

@gcunit That announcement is "We are removing Mario 35 today and it ain't coming back" followed by a whole week more of Nintendo Life articles on the subject

Can't find anywhere else to post this, but apparently Balan Wonderworld's final boss causes seizures without warning (they do not show the scene in question in the video below, but they do show the white screen that flashes for a split second for about 5-10 seconds so this video should be safe for anyone that is susceptible):

As if this game couldn't be any more of a train wreck.

I was surprised that someone already finished the game. I thought it got delayed.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

@Bolt_Strike Out of pure interest how’s the game a train wreck? I imagine it’s partly because of the overly obvious emphasis on the hero’s journey but anything more?

@TheJGG Where do I even begin? The graphics are poorly optimized for the Switch, the character moves as slow as molasses, they mapped the same action to every button (what, was this game designed for an NES controller or something?), the level design is bland and empty, there's little direction on some of the games' mechanics (What are Tims used for? Why do I feed them drops? What does constructing the Marble Run-esque structures on the Isle of Tims do for me?). And now on top of that you could die of a seizure playing the final boss? You don't have to be Nostradamus to know that this game is going to be a massive disaster, the signs are obvious that this game is going to get utterly blasted by reviewers and gamers. And now not only could it sell poorly (it was probably going to), but it could even result in a lawsuit that could cost Square Enix millions. This cannot end well.

@Bolt_Strike Good for me I never had an interest in it. I just saw a YouTube video that also said that the final boss could likely kill somebody, that's strangely funny that Naka's team never considered that. And having seen it, I can't see it ending well if they don't fix it. At least add a disclaimer to the game like Incredibles 2, which also had an intense strobing at one point. I'm not epileptic, I went to a laser tag match a few years ago and almost enjoyed the fast strobing lights, though it left me a bit dizzy. But poor optimisation and controls? God that can't be good.

Stuff like character speed and the strobing can be fixed with an easy patch, though altering the latter may break some of the game's puzzles. This'll likely damage Yuji Naka's reputation, since in honesty this is his first major game that isn't Sonic.

@TheJGG Oh yeah, Naka may be done as a developer after this. Most of his games haven't exactly had a sterling reputation (the fact that his best games are Sonic games says a lot), but this one is just the icing on the cake which could kill his career. It's kind of sad, this game could really use a win but it's looking like it'll be an epic disaster.
