@JaxonH They've done it with previous Indie World events meanwhile the only Nintendo events their games have been in are E3 2018 and E3 2019. While it's possible Silksong could've been present, the retweet meant nothing.

I mean, someone at Monolith Soft kept retweeting whenever a general Direct was announced for a year or two (IIRC) before XC: DE was announced, and I believe the same thing might be happening here too.
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔

Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
I won't bother looking for evidence to back-up my claim, but I'm pretty certain this is not the first time a dev has retweeted this sort of thing and it come to nothing. To the point whereby, having heard about TC retweeting the indie world tweet, I was casually open-minded about whether it signified anything or not. Particularly given the evidence posted earlier (was it Grumble, or Link?) about SilkSong only ever being in full directs previously.
@link3710
Well that's definitely a rule I'll be following moving forward.
@gcunit
Regardless of whether other devs have or haven't, I dont keep up with other devs, and frankly I dont even keep up with Team Cherry. This is one instance I just happened to see they RT. But saying "their one game has only been shown in actual directs" is circumstantial at best. That's only true until it isnt. And with actual directs on the back burner now, I wouldn't buy into such a pattern in the slightest, irrespective of whether or not they misled with the RT.
@Grumblevolcano
Had I known they had intentionally misled before I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But like most people, I dont follow every single tweet they make (actually dont follow them AT ALL, even despite backing the game on KS) so that's really only helpful if known beforehand.
The Direct thing means nothing. There is no secret pattern to parse with regard to them showcasing a game. 2 data points does not make a trend.

Its weird to think that Spelunky 2 was in development for a good long while and was always announced to be this big indie PlayStation exclusive from the moment it was first revealed to the time it finally launched. Now suddenly only several months later it's already announced to be coming to Switch. That was a real short exclusivity.

That’s speculation. Trying to guess their motives will get us nowhere.
The bottom line is, if you’re an indie studio with a highly anticipated game, and you promote an indie showcase which is revealing news on indie games, people are going to assume there’s a good reason for it beyond just “networking”. Whether that’s their intentions or not, that’s the inevitable result. That’s what people are going to think. Countless times we’ve see devs promote reveal events their game is going to be showcased in. Aside from Hideki Kamiya trolling, most of the time it’s for good reason.
My advice to devs with highly anticipated games is, don’t promote reveal showcases you’re not involved with unless you specifically clarify, “we won’t be revealing anything in the showcase ourselves”. That way expectations are made crystal clear from the start. Or do it from a personal Twitter account, something not directly linked to the development studio’s business account, which suggests the event has some relation to it.
Or... don’t. But if not, don’t be surprised when people stop listening or caring, which will damage their brand when it comes to promoting an event that actually does showcase their game.
I’m sorry for off topic but I have to share this.

OK, I wasn't entirely sold on the trailer, but after reading about Gnosia in more detail, I'm sold. You're not just replaying the game over and over for no reason: your characters are stuck in a time loop, and RPG stats apparently carry over between loops and impact how characters interact.
Really happy this is getting localized.
@JaxonH That's surreal. Did you just get invited to this cult of Jaxons out of the blue? lol

@Ralizah i love how crafty the gnosia can be. I do wonder how it works when you are the gnosia though. Like do you pick someone to kill?

@SM3DASislit Oh most certainly. If they only retweet a single presentation it spoils the surprise, so the only other option is not to promote it at all, or to retweet every single presentation so that it's not a giveaway. Even if it pisses off @JaxonH lol, that's the standard for most developers at this point.
@Ryu_Niiyama Based on the description, I'd guess you probably kill other characters and engineer the social environment so that Innocents take the fall when you're a gnosia. No idea how elaborate the mechanics are, but it sounds fascinating.

@Ralizah it’s like among us and Danganronpa had some kind of weird child. That’s perfectly fine by me! At first the characters designs kinda turned me off but the more I see of it the more I want it. Sounds exactly like my kind of game.
Also I feel obliged to play To The Moon in preparation of the sequel now. How good is it? I’ve been looking forward to getting it for a while.
Then there’s Happy Game. As someone who absolutely adores psychological horror and weird disturbing games. This is right up my alley. Looks stupidly creepy in the best way possible.
Add on Cyber Shadow, Among Us, Super Meat Boy, and the new Gears for Breakfast stuff, and man was this week an amazing week for indies!
