@IceClimbers Awesome! Everything I've seen about that game makes me think it'll be top notch. Hard to believe I'm saying that about a licensed title that's not from LucasFilms.

@Magician. So much same. The lack of Tekken or Soul Calibur on the go is ridiculous. At least give us Tekken Tag 2 and Soul Calibur 2 remastered.

@Dezzy It's not irrational. Just preference.

I don't buy too many games, so I can afford buying everything in physical copies. And I'm not talking about price, since physical is usually way cheaper, but also in terms of storage. I don't hoard 300+ games for a single console, so everything easily fits on a couple of shelves. I have a small vinyl collection as well; the albums I really like, and most of the albums of concerts I've been to. It's just something nice to have.

So apparently Crysis is coming to Switch... and supposedly it has Ray Tracing. This I have to see. But jeez, this means EA is actually bringing their AAA titles of last gen to Switch finally, we're getting both this and Burnout Paradise. Maybe we might just get the Mass Effects, Dragon Ages, and Mirror's Edge after all. I don't think there's any other games besides the later Crysises that would be worth getting from that generation?

@gcunit
You couldn't play your NES whenever you wanted back in the 80s? (Don't know how old you are, so take it rhetorically if you weren't around back then.)

And shops not being open is a wafer-thin argument. Even during a worldwide pandemic Gamestop has found a way to stay "open" by doing same-day curbside pickup.

@Octane

I think the only part of it that makes logical sense is the ability to resell it. Beyond that I think it is largely irrational.

It's completely harmless irrationality though, so it's not like that's a problem. I have no need to change it.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Do you think we’ll be getting another Star Fox game anytime soon? I love the franchise (mainly 64) and I’m just dying for a new entry that doesn’t just rehash the same story and planets again, but at the same time doesn’t throw everything into a bizarre direction like Command did. Starlink gave me a taste at just how developed the story, world and characters could be and I’m hoping Nintendo doesn’t just abandon the series again. Also if you do want a new entry like me, I’d love to talk about ideas and hopes for what you’d like to see.

@IceClimbers Yesses single joycon controls mean I can probably even get my mom to play.

@NintendoWiiDS If we do, it'll be because a third party through together a pitch for them. The fact that Star Fox had such good reception in Starlink (even if the game itself flopped) means it's not out of the question they'd approve something. But I don't expect anything internal.

That said, I full believe Ubisoft could make a great Star Fox game after having played Starlink, so I think thats the best bet at the moment.

@link3710 My guess is with what seems like the vast majority of current gen games being playable on next gen, 3rd parties are having to look back at their last gen catalogs instead (as they aren't playable on PS4 and hence PS5), remastering them for PC/XB1/PS4 and Switch versions being a side effect of that process.

I just got Starlink, and it really feels like an amazing base for what a next-gen Starfox could be. So much so that I hope Nintendo is inspired and either hires devs to make it or try for themselves. It's so cool being able to just fly wherever, and even seamlessly leave the atmosphere. The only lame part is the fact that it's a toys-to-life game. I don't like seeing that I need to buy each ship piece-meal, even if you can do it digitally without the toys.

link3710

@Grumblevolcano While that's very much true, we're getting to the point where the Switch has portable versions of almost every notable non-exclusive, non-annual title from the PS3/360 era, with a giant helping of PS2/XB1/Dreamcast/PS1 titles as well. Not to mention basically the entirety of the NeoGeo's library. If only we could actually get a few of the Wii's highlights over here... Right now there's just Okami and Xenoblade Chronicles DE I believe. Oh and World of Goo I guess counts as notable.

@TuVictus Starlink honestly was such a cool idea, and even managed to make the Toys to Life aspect decent with it being fun to rebuild your ship midfight. But Toys to Life just doesn't work as a whole, because no single game can support buying that many toys for it.

NintendoWiiDS

@link3710 We all know Nintendo can be rather unexpected at times. I think they could look at Starlink’s sales figures in one of two ways; either the game just flopped because the toys to life concept was on its way out, or that the Switch version sold the best because we love Star Fox. I really hope they don’t look at them and think we just don’t care enough to warrant a new release. I totally agree with what you said about a third party developer handling a new entry; I mean Nintendo hasn’t developed a game in house since 64.

I mean I love Star Fox 64 and I thought Zero was mediocre/fine. The issue for me is that I love the plot, characters and planets of 64, but it just feels like the series is stuck in an eternal limbo. Andross is a great villain and I like the lore of James McCloud being betrayed by Pigma and Peppy barely escaping. But it just feels like the exact same story has been told four times with the SNES original, 64, 64 3D and Zero. I don’t resent Zero as much as most did: I actually accustomed to the unique control scheme somewhat quickly, but my primary problem was the number of original ideas the game had. I get it was so similar because there hadn’t been a new game for 10 years, but it’s a shame we couldn’t enjoy a more original experience, especially with Platinum Games at the helm. At the same time though, I didn’t like Peppy being retired in Adventures, Assault and Command and I hated Command’s nonsensical multiple endings. So basically what I want is the same basic gameplay formula as 64 with perhaps some new mechanics added on top, new planets to explore that feel fresh and new, and a new villain with a motive to conquer the Lylat System. Perhaps some new side characters to interact with, keep Star Wolf and the Star Fox crew the same and just develop a new, refreshing adventure with 64 as a base. Also bring back the multiplayer mode.

I’d love to hear your ideas for a new Star Fox as well

@link3710 I think there's plenty left and there's some annual franchise stuff that makes sense to bring over like Ezio Collection and Modern Warfare Trilogy (the 3 original games, not the 2019 reimagining). By the time last gen library is exhausted, I'd guess the next gen systems would be into the "new game" phase.

Hey quick question if someone could help me, I (U.S. citizen) want to get a game of the European sale (you lucky brits) but like I don't know if there's a fee because of the difference in currency? Is it possible to use paypal and not pay a fee or what because I'm like pretty confused.

I don't like Monster Hunter.

Having Crisis on Switch is actually really interesting. Especially if they add gyro. I used to play that game on my laptop back in the day (or, Crisis 3, can’t actually remember which one). Very nice showpiece. I bet it’ll look great on Switch, too.

Jump Force? I guess I’ll take another fighter. Can’t say I’m too excited about it, but like My Hero One’s Justice it’s nice to see more diversity. Don’t think we’ve ever had so many fighting games on a handheld before. And, we all know they’re going to bring anything with One Piece or Dragonball in it. Which is why nobody cares anymore when they don’t announce Switch with a new game, cause everyone’s like “yup, that’ll come to Switch about 6-12 months later”. Kakarot will be next.

We’ve being doing this long enough to know how it works.

Unfortunately I think certain games and series are a lost cause, due to the director/producer/guy in charge just not wanting their games on Switch. Guy who makes Tekken doesn’t give a care about Switch or hybrid gaming, for example.

But that’s fine. I don’t think any of us expected to see every current gen game running on a handheld hybrid. Still, I’d like to see as many as possible.

@Grumblevolcano
For whatever reason, Activision is hell bent on ensuring Call of Duty never makes an appearance on Switch. Even stuff that makes perfect sense like Modern Warfare Remastered (not the remake). They just don’t want that series on Switch. Now, Ezio Collection, that I think we’ll see.

We've already got several "great" Gen-6 games on Switch. RE4, DMC, Okami, FFX & FFXII, etc. You could almost put a top-twenty list together at this point. But I'd like to see a few more come over. How about double packs for Viewtiful Joe, Maximo, Red Faction, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, or Capcom vs. SNK?

Better yet, how about those up-rezzed ports of RE2 and RE3 that the Dreamcast got back in 2000?

And give them the 3D control update that Onimusha got while you're at it, Capcom.
