So, that will be Direct for Smash Bros game only ? 🙄
Well... I don't need to watch the Direct unless it's Nintendo Direct.

@NintendoByNature Yeah, I thought it would be either Dante or Monster Hunter because of the Resident Evil spirit event. The DMC3 news suggests Dante.

@link3710 I don't think Nintendo's investors would be satisfied with no concrete future for Switch stuff so with your prediction are you expecting a "Twitter Direct" type thing like January last year where sometime before March 20th Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Bravely Default II and/or No More Heroes III gets release dates?

@Grumblevolcano You mean the January one? Honestly, no. I believe the investor briefing will focus on:
Smash DLC in Feb
FE Story DLC in May (revealed via Twitter, no details about contents til the direct)
Isle of Armor in June
New Mobile Game launching Fall
Pokemon DLC2 in Fall

And overall a huge focus on continuing support for Mario Kart Tour, Super Mario Maker 2, Smash Bros, FE, Pokemon, etc

Also, I expect to see release windows that were previously unannounced for BDII, and maybe XC:DE (not NMH III, they aren't publishing), but won't show up on Twitter first.

@link3710 I was talking about last January a lot of people thought there'd be a general Direct on the 10th as the last known game with a release date (NSMBU Deluxe) came on the 11th but on the 8th we got the following as tweets separated by 30 minutes:

  • NSO January games
  • Yoshi's Crafted World release date
  • FFX/X-2 HD and FFXII release dates
  • Dragon's Dogma announcement

So then the last known game with a release date was March 29th (Yoshi) for 1st party and April 30th (FFXII) for 3rd party of which a general Direct happened before Yoshi released (February 13th).

If dante is in fact announced as the 5th fighter, i wonder if they announce that a preorder of dmc3 gives you Dante as a preorder bonus? And if you bought the fighter pass, you just get a discount on dmc3?

Bioshock on Switch would be amazing, especially since they're Xbox 360-era games, so there shouldn't be too much downgrading being done to get it on there

@DarthNocturnal
Terry was 48 minutes long. So, unless if the new fighter is fairly simpleI wouldn’t expect any thing unexpected.

@darkfenrir I play it every morning (or, sometimes, evening on the few occasions where I have to rush out especially early). I'm lazy, but this thing has me up doing squats and jogging in the wee hours, so it must be doing something right.

Currently Playing: Silent Hill 2 (PC)

@Grumblevolcano Right, I remember. But this time around we have some notable titles:

Darksiders Genesis - February 14th
DMC 3 - February 20th
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX - March 6, 2020
Animal Crossing - New Horizons - March 20, 2020

We'll have Smash DLC dates too, and the last third party titles at the moment is Disaster Report 4 in April. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't just focus on what they have and not tweet off anything, since all that is after the January 30th Investor's briefing. Then, shortly after AC:NH, they'll have a direct to announce new titles prior to the April 30th one. Last year they wouldn't have had anything without the 'twitter direct', this year they have plenty.

@link3710 You were saying about an April Direct so from March 21st until the Direct nothing is in sight, I was asking whether you'd think there'd be a "twitter direct" on March 18th for example to hold off until whenever you thought the April Direct would be.

Grumblevolcano

link3710

@Grumblevolcano Oh whoops, my mistake. The answer is no, because the investor's briefing will have locked down a date for the Fire Emblem DLC in May, we'll get some standalone release dates from major third parties between for April/May, and I think the Direct will come two weeks after AC:NH so it won't be a big gap with only that on the table. Oh and Trials of Mana is on April 24th, so we have a major 3rd party release too.

@SuperSpaghetti NintendoLife reported on it too, with direct links to the source. You can look it up yourself, it's definitely a legit rating. Doesn't mean it's going to happen for sure, but the port at least exists in some form, if only a proof of concept (like those GTA IV ratings from last year for Switch...)

SuperSpaghetti

Wait, GTA 4 ratings for the Switch exist?

I dont like the fact that we may have towait untilmarch for a direct. What on earth is Nintendo thinking?????? Plus I really want update 10.0 to overhaul the OS. And when on earth is the update going to drop????

When it comes to Nintendo there's only one guarantee.

They won't do what you expect them to.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,561 games (as of April 18th, 2026)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

@DannyBoi 2 and a half hours from now according to the schedule they posted weeks ago. I still don't expect literally any notable change in the 10.0 version other than Animal Crossing icons though.

@Anti-Matter What if the fifth fighter is Six-Pack Muscle Boy?

I don't care.
Smash Bros Ultimate has been tainted by rated Mature characters and i really hate them all, don't even want to see them, know their names or even play with them. 😡
Just forget Smash Bros.
Not even a worthy game for me.
ARMS is thousand times much better than Smash Bros games in my opinion.
