I have to say I'm emotionally invested in the story in AI Somnium Files. It's like reading a good book that you can't put down. I haven't been this invested since The Evil Within 2.
And if there's a shadow drop of something decent in the next Direct, or announced with a date a month from that Direct, it might be one of the best first quarters the Switch has seen.
So they didn't even improve the graphics for this expansion? The open-world areas STILL look less detailed than Xenoblade Chronicles did, 2 consoles ago.
I don't understand why a franchise that makes an insane amount of money can't afford better graphics.
It was the fastest selling Switch game, so yeah I doubt they have much incentive to put in any more effort than they already do. Especially considering the national Dex thing did absolutely 0 to affect the game succeeding
@scubydo I had to put myself on a spending freeze. Went too hard for black Friday and chrismtas. Plus rebel collection just showed up a couple days back since i got it for 22 bucks on Amazon. I wont even get to it for a while with my backlog growing.
@scubydo@NintendoByNature Fortunately, I spent nothing in the eshop in December, which means I don't feel too bad about just getting rinsed by the US sale...
Although I'd previously bought from the US & Mexican eshops, it had stopped working for me, so finding out I can buy again from there has given me a spurt of excitement at the wrong time.
I've come away from it this evening having bought:
Katana Zero
Unravel Two
Earthlock
Layers of Fear
The World to the West
Minit
Mulaka
LEGO City Undercover
Pikuniku
Stick it to the Man
And that was me being restrained and not buying a few others on the shortlist.
Also bought Lightfall, Fe and Snowboarding: The Next Phase a coupla days ago.
And now's as good a time as any to disclose that I also bought physical Mario & Sonic Tokyo 2020 and Planescape Torment/Icewind Dale yesterday thanks to a 20% off eBay code...
Anyone else sick and tired of eshop errors though when scrolling through the sales page? Takes ages to work through it all.
Another plug for Ori and the Blind Forest if you're any kind of action platforming fan. I think it's like 30% off. If you played Hollow Knight and enjoyed it even a bit, you'll like Ori. Definitely not as long as Hollow Knight and my main complain is the jump of the character is slightly floaty, but the environments are beautiful, the moves you learn are interesting, and it's actually challenging!
@gcunit I've been eyeing katana myself, and grabbed unravel 2 in the Christmas sale but haven't played it yet. Since thanksgiving ive lost track of what i grabbed. But i can tell some of the big ones..
re5
darksiders 2
stick of truth
ac3 and rebel collection
TW3
axiom verge
Bastion
fractured but whole as a gift from the wife
I know I'm missing some. Grabbed sword mid November too. Not to mention all the wii u vc games I've been grabbing. I have a probem lol. Let me know how katana turns out for you
Retro fans: Sydney and the curse of the Mayan is only 5 bucks. Good little time, I played it back on release. 6-8 hours or so.
@Xyphon22 I've only played 5 minutes but I would say 'definitely' from what I've seen and the price it's available for. The characters have an instant, simple charm to them, and swinging from lassoed yarn is a delight.
I'm gonna have to adjust to all these sales on the Switch. Having been primarily on Nintendo consoles for years, I'm not used to eShop discounts rolling around very often.
This is gonna be hard on my willpower and wallet. XD
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@link3710 Yeah between those three games and the various 3rd party releases I'd argue this is a better Q1 than 2018 and 2019 were. 2017 still wins because of BotW even though it only had March haha
Edit: Here's a look at the quarter as a whole:
January: Atelier Dusk Trilogy, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, Puzzle & Dragons Gold, Kentucky Route Zero, Stranger's Wrath HD, Aviary Attorney February: Dark Crystal Tactics, Darksiders Genesis, Snack World, Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, Devil May Cry 3, Samurai Shodown March: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Langrisser I & II, Animal Crossing New Horizons, Doom 64, One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 Q1: The Outer Worlds, Rune Factory 4 Special, Star Wars Jedi Academy

And yet another plug for Ori just because... the game is awesome.
@Xyphon22
Absolutely. Unravel two is a masterpiece of a game I value almost as much as Ori. I played the entire game solo until the last two chapters when my brother stopped by and finished the game with me in co-op. The game is 100% designed for single player, while also being designed 100% for co-op. That’s part of its brilliance. It’s one of the better games I’ve played this generation as a single player game, and even moreso as a co-op game.
I was singing praises of Unravel two when it dropped and nobody was paying attention. I’m still singing its praises today. Thankfully more people are discovering the game now.
Ori, Unravel two, Trials Rising... these are the unsung heroes of 2019.
