So Reggie will be a presenter at the Game Awards.

@DarthNocturnal Yup, quite common. And with the fact that it almost certainly wouldn't be in the form of a double pack with Bayonetta, it wouldn't make sense in this announcement anyways. Let's at least wait until the probable January direct before dogpiling Sega here.

Vanquish will probably be ported over on its own at some point. A current package wouldn't make a lot of sense on something like the Switch.

Will people still care for the port? To me, I feel like this is a spit in the face. Everyone and their mother knows the Switch is highly successful, so why would Sega leave a popular platform like the Switch behind? Cause I can't see a Vanquish port selling terrible on the Switch. Maybe like many other third-party publishers, Sega is stupidly blind.

I don't really remember Vanquish. I try, but the only thing that pops in my head is Dark Sector.

@MsJubilee If it's announced at the next Nintendo Direct as a standalone release, do really you think anyone's going to be upset it was announced a month or so later than the double pack on other consoles, especially when the double pack makes no sense on Switch? I don't see what the issue would be in a case like that. You can't announce a Bayonetta release on a console that already has one, so of course, the announcements make sense to separate to generate more press.

If it’s announced later it won’t be a problem. People will immediately forget, and all they’ll care about is the fact the game is coming.

My concern is... whether that will actually happen.

Sega seems very set in their beliefs about Nintendo as a platform. Little to no Atlus support in 3 full years, despite the amazing support 3DS saw before the Sega buyout (and they can say they give Atlus free reign but I say the proof is in the pudding). Little to no Sega support aside from the occasional cartoony game (usually a lame Sonic, and that’s not to say I have anything against cartoony games but it’s not the only thing we are interested in), or uber-niche arcade classics I doubt even most of the developers themselves have heard of, much less the consumer. Shining Resonance and Valkyria Chronicles came out strong. And then... nothing. Miss after miss after miss, ignoring Switch.

If it weren’t for Alien Isolation (which to be fair is five years late to the party) I’d think they’ve lost their minds completely.

Or, they are so thoroughly entrenched in their mindset of “these games don’t sell on Nintendo, don’t even bother unless it’s a cartoon, 40 year old arcade game or Nintendo is paying us” they can’t see past their own ignorance to recognize the seismic shift that occurred in 2017 with the release of the Switch, which has seen a massive shift in the market toward the platform with actual gamers who want to play all manner of games. At least Capcom consistently ports games from the last generation (even if that’s the best they’ve done).

@Grumblevolcano
That’s incredible news!

I always said The Show was a game I would love to play if it were on Switch, but not necessarily something I would buy on PS4 (say that for a lot of games, but there are quite a few I buy on PS4/X1 regardless). I’m not big into sports now, but I spent my entire childhood a baseball fanatic (didn’t all kids in the 90s?) and this game looks great for Switch.

I prefer more Arcady sports but, there really isn’t any good alternative for baseball aside from this game. At least not to my standards. Now if only we could get a proper hockey game. We have FIFA (and despite the hate, it’s a really fun game, just wish it was a little more Arcady, but it’s close enough). Hockey though. I have many memories tripping on mushrooms playing NHL Hockey 2002 on PS2 for 48 hours straight. Well... never mind that. I was a problem child all throughout my teenage years and early 20s. I don’t miss those years, but I do miss that game!

The news about The Show is fantastic! I don't think I've played a baseball game since the MLB Power Pros games on Wii, and I haven't played a "realistic" one since MVP Baseball 2005 lol.

Anyone play Ashen? My brother is raving about this game, telling me I have to buy it. He’s been raving about it ever since it originally released on other platforms, and just bought it a second time for Switch (something he rarely does since he’s a PC gamer mostly).

It’s a Dark Souls style game, and Dark Souls is his favorite game of all time. That and Demons Souls and Bloodborne and Nioh and Sekiro, The Surge 2 and all those games of the genre.

But I’m curious to get some other opinions because, I know he’s going to like it. He’s a Souls fanatic. And don’t get me wrong- I had a blast with Dark Souls Remastered on Switch and Dark Souls 3 back when I played. But they are really difficult games that I haven’t yet mustered up the patience to learn properly.

Oooo I do like The Show. Now the only major sports missing are hockey and gridiron football. I’d really like some Madden with touchscreen playmaking.

@JaxonH Sega has, and continues to be, one of the best third parties in terms of supporting Switch. Consider that, for the future, we've got upcoming EXCLUSIVE releases like SMT V and Project Diva Mega Mix. We're getting Panzer Dragoon. We've gotten pretty much everything Sonic related. Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4. Exclusive retro Sega releases via the Sega Ages line. The Genesis Collection. All of the Puyo Puyo stuff. Persona 5 Scramble. Shining Resonance. Some games I don't like and can't remember the names of.

I'd say that they're under Square-Enix and NIS, but above every other major Japanese company in terms of Switch support. Switch isn't getting a ton of Atlus games like the 3DS did because that's just how Atlus is. Don't believe me? Check out how many games PS4 got from them prior to Persona 5. Yakuza isn't coming because the people who make Yakuza games don't like or want to support Nintendo consoles, unfortunately. Sakura Wars is an exclusive, because every platform has exclusive, and that one went to Sony. Beyond that? We get most other stuff from them.

If you want to express ire, save it for Capcom, who has released no exclusives for Switch, and gives the system nothing but ports of their old games. Sega at least gives Switch owners some modern games in addition to the old ports. Even some exclusives!

@Ralizah
The Ages line doesnt impress me in the slightest. They've chosen to favor the oldest, most unappealing games over games fans want. No Sonic 3 or S&K, not even Sonic 2. No Knuckles Chaotix or Sonic CD, no Saturn, Dreamcast... there's been one or two good ones but, not much else. And over such a long period of time too.

Persona 5 Scramble and SMTV are fair points, I'll concede that much. But both seem a bare minimum carryover of Atlus support from 3DS era, and neither have released yet even at 3 years in.

It's not just Yakuza, it's also Persona, it's also Sakura Wars... they release more exclusives for Sony than they release multiplats on Switch. And I know the director of Yakuza doesnt want his games on Nintendo but Sega is the one who calls the shots as far as platforms and ports, irrespective of what he personally wants. It's just a running theme with most of their big games.

But ya, Capcom is a joke too. They know the system is profitable for them, yet they continue to invest in ultra low risk, low effort projects. Even now they refuse to invest in the system for even one major, meaniningful current gen game. The one system without a new MH despite the fact it would outsell every other version had it been given the chance. The only system where new RE games are an automatic NO. And forget an exclusive MH or RE. That ship seems to have long since sailed. They just dont care to invest beyond skin deep cash ins. Last year things seemed more promising, and this year, while things have improved from other developers, Sega and Capcom have both become major disappointments, Persona 5 Scramble aside. Cause that was an awesome announcement. We agree there.

That's not to say I dont appreciate many of the games they are releasing. I love RE5 and RE6 with gyro. And Sega too. Alien Isolation was fantastic. But both of them seem to be minimal commitment.

I think my main issues with Capcom has been the dearth or releases in series that would be worthwhile to bring to Switch in the first place. Ace Attorney, Vs. Capcom, Megaman, Etrian Odyssey, Radiant Historia, Classical Monster Hunter, or even resurrecting older series like Viewtiful Joe or Okami could easily scale to Switch while being on other platforms as well. And yet, none of these have gotten releases save Megaman 11 (which unsurprisingly did hit Switch.)

Well, I mean if Okami 2 is really real (that was so weird) I'd expect that to be coming. And there's no excuse for Persona not coming either. But while we've gotten basically their entire back catalog (If we get Battle Network / Star Force / Legends I think the only things I'd still want to play are Killer7, Dead Rising and some Vs. Capcoms from their back catalog) I think they really need to have kicked new projects that target Switch into the pipeline rather than trying to retrofit existing projects.

I do wish Capcom would either step up the release schedule or make an announcement for the games that CAN run on switch though. Are we getting DMC4? Where is the rest of Onimusha? I don't mind the individual pricing as ports cost money and dev time but I don't want to start buying onimusha only to find out this is the only game we will get. 3 was fantastic and I would love to play them on the go. Same with dawn of dreams. I do think Capcom should port USFIV though. I liked the final revision to SFIIHD but the switch can run IV and it has no weird patron issues. Also it would be nice if they would put AA 4,5,6 and GAA 1 and 2 on Switch.

Sega is kinda weird, Atlus has never been a super fast dev and they are releasing #FE as a stopgap (which everyone should play by the way) and I feel like by next E3 we should have some SMTV news (but honestly this is similar to the #FE dev cycle, which had been radio silent for a while.) I do feel like with the royal and P5S on the way to the market and with new hardware in the form of the newborn HDTwins heading in, the next two years Atlus will focus more on switch while they figure out what to do with the PS5. So I think that will pick up for us. I also think SEGA offers somewhat lighter/older pickings because they don't have a ton of active franchises right now.

PC is doing ok with Total Wars and Humankind whenever that comes out next year. Hatsunue Miku is heading to switch, shenmue is in a weird place as its is a croudfunded series now, yakuza was sent out to die on wiiu so we aren't getting that (I bought it though!!!!), I don't think there is any way we will get all of the simulation games (don't we get football manager?) and Sonic goes everywhere even if you don't want him.

So many franchises are mothballed: shinobi, (that to its credit had its last outing on a nintendo system...and was quite good even though the artstyle was horrid imo), alex kidd has been dead, VF is dead without Yu Suzuki anyway... Most of their nostalgia franchises don't have new entries so SEGA ages and the collection are the best they can do. The smaller franchises may have some people turn their noses up at them, but I'm pretty happy as these are games that would have died on their original platforms, I do wish they would port VC 2 and 3 though. I do feel that Sega AM2 is not getting the use that they should. However that is more management than anything to do with platforms.

I could see the Yakuza and Kingdom Hearts games announced at X019 maybe launching same day on Switch like a reverse Final Fantasy situation (that was announce in a Direct for Switch, later revealed to be coming same day for XB1).

Two Steins Gate titles just stealth drop on the Eshop right now, insane.

Which ones? Thought Stein's Gate Elite was a remake or reimagining of the prior entry (maybe I'm wrong?). I know a new one is in development but surely that wasn't completed and stealth dropped...
