@MarcelRguez He just didn't go into detail. He just said the basics and it sounded like the Eurogamer leak. I am not saying this guy is right, I am more pointing out that I am finally hearing stuff outside of random people on the internet... but I am a random person on the internet lol. I also don't want to go into detail since people I know professionally know my username and I don't want them to get mad at me lol

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I find it disappointing because I'm not convinced Nintendo knows that there's a difference between games designed for handheld and games designed for consoles. Xenoblade X is a game for consoles. Mario 3D land is a game for handhelds. Those games focus more on bite sized chunks of gameplay than games you're supposed to immerse yourself in. I'm worried they'll favor one over the other, and it'll be disappointing for console players or vice versa. Especially when we hear things like "pikmin would not work on a handheld". Will they hold themselves back in the kinds of games they develop just so they can satisfy the "at home or on the go" stuff they're gonna be peddling? Will we have another 3D land as opposed to a Galaxy or maybe even 64/sunshine because they think mobile game design should take priority?
Yes they will be able to focus on one device but it will definitely have it's drawbacks. Which I know is an unpopular opinion on a Nintendo fan site, but I see them as making a mistake. Hopefully there might be "home" exclusive games that can't be taken on the go. And that's not even getting into the issue that yet again their home console will be severely underpowered. Even if it'll be an impressive handheld. Which brings me to price worries. They can't get away with anything above $300 for this. But that's more their problem than mine.
@MarcelRguez
Detachable controllers? another thing to lose and break on my portable machine. A single screen? The DS and 3DS have really cleaned up the display of certain game series, take Pokemon for example. The top screen cleanly and clearly displays the battle while the bottom screen is for stats and attacks. With just 1 screen, everything is going to be crammed together again. Going back to Pre-DS Pokemon UI sounds terrible lol. Portable with Home Console abilities? Home Console price, Portable power, you probably will only use the machine as a Portable. Rarely will you be plugging it into your TV for the same game that you can play anywhere. 32 GB of storage, very low. NX games will be bigger than 3DS games, which I already filled up a 32 GB SD card on 3DS and updated to a 64 GB micro SD when I switched to the New 3DS XL. No Backwards Compatibility? Really, not even with 3DS or eShop stuff...
I don't think people that want a Home Console will be interested in the low power of the NX and people that want a portable won't want to be paying the higher price for the home Console features that they don't want. (detachable controllers and docking tech will drive up the price just like the GamePad did for the Wii U) So the ones this target will be people that want a Home Console and a Portable. This system will also not be targeted to families. Your kid can't take the portable with them to school or whatever while you game at home. This is a personal device that can be shared, when you aren't using it. A Home Console is generally at home for whoever wants to use it while a Portable system is with a single person when they want to use it. So I am not sure who this is going to target, and I still can't see how detachable controllers is better than just having a Pro Controller sold separately or come with the system...

@DefHalan All very valid concerns. I have the same ones honestly. Plus you can forget about 3DS or especially Wii U BC. And 720p games won't scale well on 4k tv sets.
There are hurdles to backwards compatibility if you only have one screen. How about the games that use both screens in tandem? I know dream team did and I imagine paper jam as well. No wii u backwards compatibility is definitely a given, unless they treat the home base as it's own entity, which would defeat the purpose of a hybrid completely. They're going to have to show me some amazing improvements in terms of their UI and online infrastructure as well as promising games for me to get over the device itself. Where the hardware fails, I hope the software can get me hyped.
@DefHalan I think maybe Nintendo will keep the 3DS for a couple more years as a budget handheld line, while positioning Nx as a more premium portable option and the home replacement for Wii U also.
I would not be surprised if they still launched a New 2DS.
But, overall, I think many of your concerns are valid. Particularly the dettachable parts, never felt right for me and will be something I need to see.
@MarcelRguez Yeah, I suppose you're very right. I'm just worried about how they're going to handle this thing in nearly every way. From price to the types of games it gets
@MarcelRguez Without multiple screens, I don't think we will have backwards compatibility. Sure the Wii U VC had DS games working on 1 screen, but I don't think they would do that on the NX for all 3DS games.
I believe all we got was it would dock into something to display on the TV. Whether it has any of its own hardware or it's strictly just a video output device remains to be seen.
@MarcelRguez I don't have the space to have a bunch of consoles hooked up to my TV or laying around in drawers. Which means I can't hold onto my old consoles when upgrading. BC helps with that. I could probably find space for my 3DS to sit somewhere, which means if I do ever get a NX (probably when the next Pokemon game is released, honestly) I will never hook it up to my TV.

@DefHalan If NX goes with ARM, they could do 3DS BC at least. Maybe use the screen in portrait mode and divide it in two to simulate the two screen of the 3DS? I don't know. Not sure if that will happen, but 3DS BC at least has a chance to happen. But this is Nintendo..
